Yahoo had switched my messages to fully featured
without having the courtesy to ask or tell me. I had not realised
because even for fully featured the plaintext view has nothing added
at all.

I think the only difference is that fully featured has an
alternative HTML view with some Yahoo links at the bottom and a group
footer and just one advert link under the heading of Marketplace.

The HTML view is also unreadable because Yahoo's formatting changes my
default black background to white but does not alter the colour of my
default white text!

I cannot comment about their daily digest because I receive
individual messages.

Totally off-topic, but the list is quiet.

It seems I don't receive ads but a long footer in traditional

I assume this was to reply as text rather than as quotes. I don't
understand this, but doing it was
quite helpful, as modified messages now come out with:

%REGEXPBLINDMATCH=.

with the dots representing the match.

Great! It means I know what the macro's doing now. However, the macro
is still matching sigs and ads at the bottom of messages - I mean,
these sigs and ads are within the quotations. Here are two sigs it is
still including:

_

These are the only two I have tested so far, although it has also not
excluded my basic mailto: URL, which I would also like to filter out
if I can ... (yes I'm very demanding for a novice)

The comments in the macro library aren't very explicit about this
macro.

I don't know if the macro is supposed to filter ALL signitures or merely specific ones?
And I don't know what the criteria are that it uses to detect sigs and ads?

Your breakdown above Bill was helpful. My fumbling decoding efforts
suggest that the macro looks to exclude lines beginning with
_underscores_, or the message get your free download. I don't
understand the 'none of the above' bit.

Do I need to add sig specific texts in the macro in order for it to
exclude them?

Also, if it seeks to exclude _underscore_ lines, why didn't it exclude
the two sigs above?

Phew!

cleaning sigs ads from forwards - RegEx migrane

2003-06-11 Thread dajabo

I'm trying to exclude signatures and adds from bottom of messages to be
forwarded

The REGEX-BASED Macro collection
http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/macros.html

offers the following string:

   %quotes='%SETPATTREGEXP=(?is)((\s*)?\n?-BEGIN PGP %-
   SIGNED.*?\n(Hash:.*?\n)?\s*)?(.*?)(^(%-
   -*?\s*?--\s*\n|%-

   -+\s+.*roups.*~--\)|%-
   \n+Get your FREE download|%-
   \z)%REGEXPBLINDMATCH=%text%SUBPATT=4'

which I've used, but replacing the first '%quotes' with '%text'
because I want the text not the quotes (!?)

My question for all you (very helpful) souls:

How does this work?

A test run hasn't filtered:

  _
Mit dem MSN Messenger eine Reise für 4 Personen nach Barcelona gewinnen –
  jetzt mitmachen! http://www.sweepstakes2003.com/entry.aspx?locationid=15

from a message; nor has adding the line:

\nMit dem MSN Messenger eine Reise|%-

in between the last and second to last lines.

Do I need to specify the text and if so how, in order to get it
deleted in the forwarded message?

Many Thanks from a novice...

dajabo

ps. are the line endings in the above string neccesary or should it
carry on on one line...?

There is one on the list's FAQ site under macros...

  http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/macros.html

Kindly hosted by Marck himself, if you scroll down, you'll see a
section titled Automatically stripping out signatures and
advertisements, where you will see two macros. The first will pull
off adverts, such as yahoo, and hotmail, along with Gnupg/pgp signed
messages, whilst the second will only stip off gnupg/pgp signatures.

The easiest thing to do (I found) is put them in a quick template, and
call the quick template in your reply template. Makes life a lot
easier.

JR - - End "pgpout" expression -

This is the wrong macro. This expression is listed on the Macros web
page with the following heading: "If you do not have e-groups banner
ad problems and wish to automatically trim only signatures which are
preceded by common signature delimiters then you may use the following
macro:"

Your situation is the opposite - banner ads and no PGP.

You should be using the macro which precedes it on the page as
follows:

macro dumping *just* eGroups ads

2000-11-09 Thread Jan Rifkinson

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hello BatListers,

In the Regex Macro Collection @ URL
http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/macros.html
the following macro is described as a way to clean
up a reply, dumping PGP sigs as well as eGroups.

%quotes="%SETPATTREGEXP=""(?is)(^-BEGIN PGP
SIGNED.*?\n(Hash:.*?\n)?\s*)?(.*?)(^(-*?\s*?--\s*\n|_{40,}\s*\n|-BEGIN PGP
SIGNATURE.*s?\n|-+\s*eGroups.*~-~.*-*_-)|\z)""%REGEXPBLINDMATCH=""%text""%SUBPATT=""3"""

There are a # of egroups I belong to where the PGP
sig is not employed the above macro doesn't seem
to work there, though it works like a charm when
PGP info is present.

I guess the PGP pattern has to be removed, yes? no?
help. TIA

Re: macro dumping *just* eGroups ads

2000-11-09 Thread Januk Aggarwal

Hello Jan,

On Thu, 9 Nov 2000 at 21:17:43 GMT -0500 (which was 6:17 PM
where I live) witnesses say Jan Rifkinson typed:

snip

There are a # of egroups I belong to where the PGP
sig is not employed the above macro doesn't seem
to work there, though it works like a charm when
 PGP info is present.

I seem to remember this macro working for me in the past with e-Groups
posts with no PGP signatures. Looking at the RegExp Syntax, it
shouldn't need the PGP part removed to work successfully. But the
e-Group ads must be at the end of the message. Where are they in your
lists?

If the ads are at the beginning, try this one, it is an earlier
incarnation of the same macro. As usual, this should be on one line
for best results.

%quotes="%SETPATTREGEXP=""(?is)(^-+ eGroups.*~-~.*-*_-$\s+){0,1}(^-BEGIN PGP
SIGNED.*?\n(Hash:.*?\n)?\s*)?(.*?)(^(- --\s*\n|_{40,}\s*\n|-BEGIN PGP
SIGNATURE)|\z)""%REGEXPBLINDMATCH=""%text""%SUBPATT=""4"""

If that's not the problem, how exactly is the macro failing? Are you
getting too much quoted, not enough... ?

I guess the PGP pattern has to be removed, yes? no?

More likely the e-Groups people changed something minor to make the
match fail. In addition to the above requested information, can you
please post and example of the ads that you are trying to remove?

Taking out the egroup ads

2000-09-26 Thread Cameleon

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

Hi,

I read on the digests that "somebody" wrote a macro to delete the
egroups ads. I was unable to find it on my 78434678 digests messages
:)

If he could repost (or in private of course), that would be great !

Thanks !
