I didn't realise that there is a different procedure for installing
the plugin now, Through Options-Preferences-Protection-Antispam
rather than Options-Preferences-Plugins as before.

I had to retrain but this was not a problem as I have a fairly
large mailbase to work with.

It remains to be seen how well it works now but at least it works.

Thanks for the help.

Hmm ... I have nothing else to suggest at this point. But you might

I tried that. There are no new messages with malformed headers.
The problem lies elsewhere.

I tried transferring most of my BayesIt installation from the old
machine in order to preserve the training so perhaps there is
something amiss with one of the configuration files.

You can try experimenting with that, but I don't think that is the
problem ... at least not directly. When I first started having this
problem, I not only 'un-installed' the add-in, I deleted the all the
training data and retrained. That did not stop the problem from
reoccurring either.

It works this way for me too. Deleting BayesIt allows the mail to

M3 I am not sure if the problem is triggered by a certain email

I am not sure about that because it seems to be a constant

I will monitor this for a while.

Well I am not sure either g It just seemed that since it seems to
work well for varying periods of time ... some times long, sometimes
short ... my guess was that it was being triggered by something it was

SF I will monitor this for a while.

I would be interested in hearing what (if anything) you find out.

BayesIt blocking mail import

2005-03-29 Thread Scott Frederick
Hello TBUDL,

I just clean installed everything, and imported my installation
from a backup, but now BayesIt is giving me trouble.

Sometimes all my messages will download but not be imported,
then the connection centre just hangs. If I remove the plugin
everything works fine (except for the spam).

I keep my Mail directory on a different drive from the
installation directory and I have tried running the plugin from
both locations but there was no difference.

I am running AVG Free v7.

 Any ideas?

I have this problem (at least it sounds like the problem I have) about
once a week or so. It is not you Anti-virus, I use eTrust ... and
have Zone Alarm Pro FWIW.

If I delete the BayesIt plug-in (from options/preferences/add-ins only
... I don't delete the files or the trained data), close TB, start TB
again, add BayesIt back in ... that usually fixes it for me, I can
then download again and things work normally.

Occasionally, that won't work and I have to do one extra step. After
I have deleted BayesIt, I have to connect and get mail once. After
that I can re-add BayesIt and it will work fine for a while again.

I am not sure if the problem is triggered by a certain email message
