All,

How's that for an obscure keyboard, eh? Anyone, think they
can get a handle on that one?

Actually, what I wrote was "a US-English keyboard."
Originally, I had lowercased "english." When Spell Check,
puzzled over the construction, I used the pause to uppercase
"English," telling Spell Check to make the change, then,
that being the only error, sent the message off, discovering
only afterward that Spell Check had made its own change.

Thus . . . the remarkably esoteric Shellfish keyboard.

I'm using a Shellfish keyboard, and, for me, it's Ctrl+Plus.

(Which, as an aside, is precisely what I was most looking
for at the moment. I am not a power user, am indeed daunted
by some of the posting here, and thus, on both counts, have
little I can contribute, regrettably. But I do slog through
most of all but the most recondite posts (recondite to me,
anyway), and, bit by bit, pick up a wealth of information.
For which I thank you all. Spectacular program, TB. [But
wouldn't a manual or genuine Help system be an easier way to
go about learning it?] [Would almost certainly result in an explosive
increase in the user base, too.])

Absolutely. For instance, when I'm typing in Russian, I can't access
the (non-cyrillic) menu bar by hitting ALT+M, ALT+V, etc. 8-[

You're right, on American keyboards this is the CTRL+] shortcut. An
excellent shortcut, but useless after your messages are marked read.
So, if you'd like to browse your archive folders quickly in The Bat!,
forget it. (Until Ritlabs implement the CTRL+ARROW-DOWN or UP
shortcuts, or something even better, in the preview window -- but I'm
repeating myself unduly, I beg your pardon.)

It is Ctrl-= on english keyboards

Yes. Most of the shortcuts posted to this list apply to standard
US-English keyboards. With the international flavour of this list,
keyboard shortcuts really should have a disclaimer referring to what keyboard
they are using.

No keyboard shortcut, I'm afraid. You may try one of TB's neatest
tricks, however, by clicking on the "Message Flag" icon of a unread
message while holding down the ALT key to achieve the same effect.
Note the "Message Flag" icon (as it's called in then message column
adjustment dialog box) is not the little red "flag" (it's called
"Flagging" among message columns), but the little envelope icon
(which should be yellow, red, or blue for unread messages.

The same trick works for any other visible columns in the message
list. Try it and you'll see.

Keyboard Shortcut... (Ctrl+=)...

2000-09-19 Thread Mark R Harding

Hi TBUDL,

I've been using the option from the 'View' menu...

 Display -> Only Unread Messages

... recently when new mails have appeared but due to weird dates end
up buried way down a message list. I select this option via the mouse
and the menus but I'd like to be able to speed things up by
keyboard-shortcutting it.

I notice that only the 'Display all messages' option has a keyboard
shortcut listed and that is "Ctrl + =".

Is there a keyboard shortcut for displaying only unread messaages
because I prefer to only switch to this mode for a short time to allow
me to quickly find the new messsages before I switch back. Therefore,
a shortcut key would be the ideal thing.

I have already checked the list held at...

 http://www.pcwize.com/thebat/shortcut.eng

... but I didn't see anything obvious.

Thanks and best wishes,

Mark.
