[Texascavers] Texas Cavers Reunion!
Howdy y’all! It is only three short weeks until we all converge on Flat Creek near Johnson City for the 34th Annual Texas Cavers Reunion. For more information and directions, visit www.oztotl.com/tcr. We have lots of fun and excitement on tap for the weekend. We have contests organized and vendors scheduled. We have LOTS of great prizes for the competitions and door prizes. Everyone who comes out is a winner but some of the lucky ones will leave with some great prizes! We’ve gotten a little rain but not nearly enough to alleviate the fire danger so we ask everyone to be very careful with fire. TCR recommends that every car have at least one dry chemical fire extinguisher. The fire extinguisher should have an A in its rating. This year, the Bexar Grotto has decided not to do a fundraising dinner on Friday night so y’all are on your own on that night. Saturday night we will have the Big Feed and Stephan and crew are planning some good eats for everyone. Please bring your own plate, utensils, and a mug. Sunday morning, from about 8 AM to 10 AM the TCMA will be hosting a fundraising breakfast. We invite everyone to come and have breakfast while helping TCMA get more caves. The TSA and TCMA will be having Members Meetings on Sunday morning. The TSA meeting starts at 8 and will next to where TCMA is offering breakfast so you can have breakfast and coffee while you hear all the exciting news from the TSA. Following the TSA meeting is the TCMA meeting at 9AM. You will have a chance to hear all that TCMA is up to and have a chance to meet the directors. See y’all there! Allan and Ellie
[DFWgrotto] DFW Grotto Meeting Sept. 28
The DFW Grotto meeting is next Wednesday, Sept. 28, 6:45 p.m. at REI at 635 and Welch. This month we have a professionally produced caving video from Italy, L'Abisso (The Abyss): In the fall of 2004, Italian cavers discovered an impressive new branch in the Spluga della Preta Abyss, long known as the deepest cave in the world, and still the deepest in Italy. Grotto T-shirts: Around 15 people responded with size/color choices, so we're in pretty good shape now for a t-shirt order. I thought I'd wait until the day after the meeting to place the order. I'll try to bring color swatches to the meeting. See you there! Ed ___ DFWgrotto mailing list dfwgro...@dfwgrotto.org http://dfwgrotto.org/mailman/listinfo/dfwgrotto_dfwgrotto.org
[Texascavers] NO CSBP project in October!
Please note that there will NOT be a CBSP Project in October. There are just too many conflicts that weekend, most notably Bill Stone and Vicki Siegel's wedding reception. We urge you to attend that as an alternative to the regular caving weekend. The Project Coordinators will be there, so you can still discuss digs and mapping projects and so on. The Project will start up at it's regularly scheduled time in November (11-13 Nov). If you feel you MUST get to CBSP sooner, come out and volunteer your help during the cave gating workshop next week. We will be building a new gate on Gorman Cave. Contact me to let me know so I can arrange meals and bunk space. Thanks! Jim Kennedy, TSA-CBSP Project Coordinator [feel free to distribute this amongst as many Texas cavers as possible]
