[Texascavers] Punkin Cave survey
I still have some openings for the upcoming Punkin Cave survey trip, the weekend after the TSA Spring Convention (5-8 April 2012). We plan to head out to Carta Valley on Thursday evening, survey all day Friday (Good Friday), all day Saturday, and return home sometime Easter Sunday. Even if you can't make it until Friday night, I could still use the help, although preference would be given to folks who could commit to surveying both days. Sketchers are especially welcome. The cave has a minor vertical component at the very beginning, so you must have your own vertical gear and be competent in it's use. If you are interested and available, please contact me offlist. Registration to the TSA Spring Convention includes entrance to a regular scheduled tour of Cascade Caverns. These tours are the regular scheduled tours open to the public. Since the regular tours are mostly during the presentations, our group has 2 extra chances to visit the cave. *The 1-hour cave tour will delight any caver with its unique formations, cathedral room, and lovable critters. *The passages are smooth gravel and steps lead to cave. There are areas that require squatting or leaning over while walking because of low head clearance. Tour is lighted and no gear is necessary. Cascade Cavers is offering to take our group off trail for a fee of $20.00 per person. The 2-hour tour will take you 400 feet into wet, muddy, walking/crawling passage. Cascade Caverns will provide helmets to those who do not have their own. The trip open to all cavers but is not included in registration. Recent cave-dives have substantially increased the length of the lower cave. [Texascavers] Punkin Cave survey
I still have some openings for the upcoming Punkin Cave survey trip, the weekend after the TSA Spring Convention (5-8 April 2012). We plan to head out to Carta Valley on Thursday evening, survey all day Friday (Good Friday), all day Saturday, and return home sometime Easter Sunday. Even if you can't make it until Friday night, I could still use the help, although preference would be given to folks who could commit to surveying both days. Sketchers are especially welcome. The cave has a minor vertical component at the very beginning, so you must have your own vertical gear and be competent in it's use. If you are interested and available, please contact me offlist. Registration to the TSA Spring Convention includes entrance to a regular scheduled tour of Cascade Caverns. These tours are the regular scheduled tours open to the public. Since the regular tours are mostly during the presentations, our group has 2 extra chances to visit the cave. *The 1-hour cave tour will delight any caver with its unique formations, cathedral room, and lovable critters. *The passages are smooth gravel and steps lead to cave. There are areas that require squatting or leaning over while walking because of low head clearance. Tour is lighted and no gear is necessary. Cascade Cavers is offering to take our group off trail for a fee of $20.00 per person. The 2-hour tour will take you 400 feet into wet, muddy, walking/crawling passage. Cascade Caverns will provide helmets to those who do not have their own. The trip open to all cavers but is not included in registration. Recent cave-dives have substantially increased the length of the lower cave.
