Re: [Texascavers] Fw: [PBSS] September Meeting Notes
The issue I saw is that someone made a custom google map with the cave location and left it public. I use the custom maps for work or caving trips all the time. The key is to make them private. You can still share the maps but your locations and what not will not show up for the public to see. The quickest resolution might be to find the map owner (Bill is on it) and get them to make the map private. Joe On Wed, Sep 12, 2012 at 2:04 PM, Kurt L.
I am tentatively looking at getting permits to park caves on October 27th. I also hope to get permits to the TCMA preserve in November after Thanksgiving. The meeting was officially closed at 7:25 because of a commitment I had in Odessa at 8:00 but most everyone else stayed and ate and probably talked about caves. [PBSS] September Meeting Notes
The September Meeting of the PBSS began at 7:00pm with Bill Bentley, Tony Abernathy and Matthew Ormsby in attendance. We were later joined by Kerry Lowery, Patrick Ray and two of his friends Erik Ulrestad and Laura Liem. A financial Report was not given because Walter was not in attendance but last months report was 800.79 and there have been no expenses since then. Bill gave a report about the upcoming Amazing Maze trip for the Permian Basin Outdoor Club led by the PBSS. Emphasis was added regarding TCMA membership requirements. The PBOC meets next Tuesday and the trip will be on September 22. Any interested PBSS member are invited and encouraged to attend, please make sure your TCMA membership is up to date. If you need directions please e-mail me. I gave a brief report about a trip to Ess Cave this past Saturday. Bill recommended I mention in this remailer that the gate has been compromised and needs to be repaired. Barry and Mike have been recommended for the job. Currently, the cave can be accessed by anyone who knows its location. Thanks to Google anyone that searches Ess Cave can find it. Bill is going to send Google a request that the location be removed from its map but doubts anything will come of it. The TCMA reunion will be on October 20-21 at Paradise Canyon. I am unable to change the email message at the bottom of the remailer messages... - Original Message - From: "J. Also, reminders regarding both the Fort Stanton Project week September 24th-October 2nd, and TCR the weekend of October 15th. We had a Treasurer's report, and the Treasurer, Bill Bentley, informed everyone that he will not accept a nomination for treasurer for 2012, going so far as to say, "And if elected, I will not serve." Bringing us to the Election of Officers: We will be electing officers at our December meeting. Nominations will be accepted at the November meeting. Please nominate people for: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. President runs meetings and, in absence of a Secretary, keeps meeting notes. Vice President runs meetings in the President's absence, and could be in charge of programs if we chose to have regular programs. Secretary keeps notes or minutes writes letters, thank yous, and sends cards as (rarely) needed. Treasurer keeps track of our money and membership and Bill has a set up that makes the job fairly simple. Reports were given on the August Amazing Maze trip and the Labor Day weekend Comanche Springs sensor installation/survey trip. Brought up for discussion: We have no "members only benefits" and we have a long list of former members. We decided to leave things the way they are but Bill will add a paragraph to the remailer messages stating how to become a member of PBSS. Upcoming Trips and Adventures: TCR the weekend of October 15th. ESS Cave the weekend of October 29th. Hallowe'en Party included. Five Mouth Cave dig either November 13th or 20th, depending on the landowner's preference. Permian Basin Outing Club (PBOC) trip to Amazing Maze September 2012 The meeting was closed at 1948. Re: [PBSS] September meeting report
I am unable to change the email message at the bottom of the remailer messages... - Original Message - From: "J. LaRue Thomas" To: Sent: Monday, September 19, 2011 7:34 AM Subject: [PBSS] September meeting report [If I missed anything by all means post it to the list] PBSS Meeting September 13, 2011 The meeting was opened at precisely 1900 (7 p.m. for the 12-hour people) In attendance: Tony Abernathy, Bill Bentley, Walter Feaster, Koyle Knape, Kel Thomas, Jacqui Thomas (report) Announcements: After determining that the following would not ruin the movie "Contagion" for anyone, it was announced that Bat Conservation International has released a statement regarding the slanderous (or is it libelous, when it's a movie?) treatment of bats in the movie.
