Great question. At this time I can take cash, checks or visa and MasterCard. No
Amex at this point but hope to be there soon!

Michael, what app will you be using? I'm just curious if it's paypal,

Cavers! Don't forget that the TCMA fundraising auction will be held this
Saturday at the TSA Spring Convention. Don't forget to bring your money,
AND bring your old caving/camping gear to donate. I am also looking for at
least one more lovely auction assistant, to show off each item and work the
crowd. If you are interested, contact me directly. The auctioneer and his
assistants will be doing the "Thrift Shop" thing this year.

[Texascavers] TCMA auction at spring convention

2012-03-26 Thread Saj Zappitello
The TCMA auction will be taking place at spring convention this year,
after dinner on Saturday night as usual. We are seeking fabulous
donations of great items that cavers will be interested in. We will be
set up to accept credit card payments, checks, and cash, so please
plan to participate!

For example... Auction highlights from past years include:
custom cave-related artwork, new and lightly used functional camping
equipment, caving equipment, a ride in an ultralight aircraft, dinner
on a private boat.

100% of proceeds go to the TCMA in pursuit of it's mission to conserve
Texas caves.

If you need assistance transporting your donations, or are wondering
if an item will be appropriate, please contact your nearest TCMA
director (contact info at www.tcmacaves.org).

[Texascavers] TCMA Auction at Spring Convention

2011-03-08 Thread Saj Zappitello
Greetings From the TCMA Fundraising Committee;

As you already know, the TSA Spring Convention for 2011 is scheduled for
April 1st through the 3rd and will take place in Brackettville, Texas. TCMA
will once again be holding its annual fundraising auction, on Saturday,
April 2nd as part of the convention, and we are asking for your help to
ensure the auction’s success.

So as you are doing your spring cleaning this year, be sure to keep an eye
out for that piece of artwork that you no longer display, length of rope
that you no longer use, camping items that you bought extra of because it
was a good deal or funny novelty item that you just can’t throw away. If you
are not sure if the items you have to donate would be good auction items,
ask your friends. Chances are if they offer to take the item off your hands
others would be willing to bid on it.

For those who find items they would like to donate, please contact Saj
Zappitello at sajar...@gmail.com or Evelynn Mitchell at evel...@satx.rr.com.
This will help us make sure that your items are given a spot either in the
silent auction or in the live auction that evening. Please also let us know
if you cannot transport the item you would like to donate and we will make
arrangements for the item to be transported.

Donations to TCMA are incredibly important for us to be able to maintain the
wonderful cave preserves that we all like to visit, and for us to look for
future caves to purchase. Whether you are able to donate items or not, we
hope to see you all at the auction on the 2nd, ready to have a good time and
helping to ensure the future of caving in Texas though caver owned caves.

Thanks for your support!

Or maybe he was too far away to clearly see who those young, attractive women
were. We did have an excellent turnout, which was great for the auction but
meant that not everyone could be near the stage. The only way I found to get a
front row seat was to bring a bunch of PA gear and claim I had to be there to
operate it. ;-)

Thanks to everyone involved both for helping TCMA and for putting on an
entertaining show.

[Texascavers] TCMA auction this weekend!!!

2010-03-22 Thread Jim Kennedy
Friends, this may be your last reminder, as I will be out of town most
of this week, and then setting up on Friday for the TSA Spring
Convention in Cedar Park. On Saturday evening, after the scrumptious
feast prepared and served by our fellow caver-caterers (Stefan and Vico
and crew), we'll once again hold the TCMA Charity Auction, where your
contributions and purchases help buy caves for you. We have some
interesting potential purchases in the works, but it is too early to say
anything yet, or the deals might fall through. But we are going to need
money! That's where you come in. Send me a quick email telling me what
you want to donate (must have some caver appeal), and I will put it on
the spreadsheet to give to the auction bookkeepers. Then deliver your
items to Mike Walsh's house in Cedar Park, where the Convention will be
held. Finally, attend the auction (bring a lawn chair) and bid high on
the items we have, even your own if you decide you want it back! We
(the Auction team) promise to entertain you. This year we are going
formal. That's right, I bought a tux for the occasion, and my lovely
assistant Ann Scott will be elegant in an evening gown and pearls. If
any of you would like to pull out your little-used formal wear and don
it for the event, we would love to have you join in. The auction (as
well as the rest of the TSA Spring Convention) will be a really fun
time, so don't miss it!

[Texascavers] TCMA Auction

2010-03-15 Thread Jim Kennedy
Hello again cavers! I hope you all are planning to attend the great TSA
Spring Convention that TSA Vice-Chair Ellie Thoene is planning for us in
Cedar Park, Texas on the 26th through 28th of March. Yes, that's in
less than two weeks! So I figured it was time to remind you all again
that we are having another auction to raise funds for TCMA to buy caves
for you. Yes you! But we really need items donated to sell. So far I
have about a dozen items pledged. It will be a really short auction and
not raise much money if that is all we get! So please, see what you can
spare and email me soon (before the Convention) so I can get the
spreadsheet of items to the Auction treasurers and make it a fun even
for everyone. Any caving or camping equipment is greatly appreciated,
but you can also donate art, jewelry, services, trips, clothing, and
collectibles as long as it is caver-related or at least would appeal to
cavers. All items donated become property of TCMA, and can be delivered
to the Auction committee or any TCMA Director at the TSA Spring
Convention. Thanks all! We have some really exciting things in the
works, and hopefully will have a new cave or two to brag about soon.

[Texascavers] TCMA Auction at TSA Spring Convention, Saturday 27 March

2010-03-01 Thread Jim Kennedy
Greetings, fellow cavers! I have pleased so far with the responses for
donations to the upcoming TCMA fundraising auction. But I want to take
a little time today to remind you about this fun and important event,
and ask you again to let me know if you have items you are willing to
donate for the auction. In the past we have had such items as trips,
historic cave-related collectables, new gear, antique gear, artwork,
jewelry, food, clothing, and others. In fact, we'll accept almost
anything as long as it is at least marginally cave-related or if it will
appeal to cavers. Remember that this is one of TCMA's most important
fun-raising events of the year, and that all the money raised directly
supports our mission of acquiring caves for cavers. If you would like
to donate items, please contact me off-list so I know what we will have
to sell. You can bring those items directly to the TSA Spring
Convention or contact me for prior delivery if you cannot attend. We
hope to see all of you in Cedar Park on March 26-27, and bring your
wallets!

[Texascavers] TCMA Auction at TSA Spring Convention

2010-02-18 Thread Jim Kennedy
Cavers, please start looking through your garages, storage units,
attics, sheds, and basements (for the few of you lucky enough to have
one!) for cave and camping gear, art items, fine foods or alcoholic
beverages, or anything else cave related or that would be appreciated by
other cavers. We are having another fund-raising auction this year at
the TSA Spring Convention, on Saturday evening after the banquet. In
previous years your generous contributions (and generous bidding!)
helped us pay off the property with Punkin Cave and Deep Cave in Carta
Valley, Texas. The TCMA is actively looking for additional caves to
purchase, and your contributions will help buy caves for cavers. Please
send me a short email if you have anything to donate, and I'll start a
list. You can bring the items directly to the TSA Spring Convention in
Cedar Park, unless you can't make it that weekend and want to make other
arrangements with me. My lovely assistants and I, as well as the rest
of the hard-working TCMA team, hope to see a record crowd this year. We
promise to make it entertaining if you promise to be free in both your
item donations as well as your bids. :-)

2009-04-23 Thread Jim Kennedy
Cavers,

This is a reminder to bring your Auction donations with you this
weekend, and give them to Jim Kennedy or any other TCMA Director before
Saturday evening. That's when we'll sell off your stuff and try to make
enough money to pay off the remainder of the Punkin and Deep caves
property. See you there, and bring cash or your checkbook!

[Texascavers] TCMA Auction at TSA Spring Convention

2009-03-06 Thread Jim Kennedy
Greetings, cavers! This is Crash, your manic Auctioneer, here to drum
up support for the TCMA fundraising auction to be held Saturday 25 April
at Schreiner Park in Kerrville during the TSA Spring Convention. For
you past Auction attendees, you will recall how entertaining the Auction
can be, and how much really good stuff gets donated to sell. And it's
for a great cause: raising money to help pay off the mortgage to TCMA's
Carta Valley preserve, which holds the world-class Punkin and Deep
Caves. And we all know that cavers buying caves benefits us all! In
the past we have auctioned off brand new ropes, historic caving
ephemera, new caving and camping gear, weekends at nice B&Bs, ultralight
airplane flights, hardcore (and softcore) cave trips, home-brewed beer,
original artwork, and so much more. Last year I believe we raised over
$3700. This year we are pushing to finish paying off the mortgage for
the Punkin and Deep property, so we want to make this auction even
better! We need some volunteers to solicit, store, and transport
donations to the Convention site. We need cavers like yourselves to
donate items to sell, or talk to your local businesses for donations of
items (or money) to help with this fundraiser. And, of course, we need
all of you to come to the Convention, and bid on items during the
Auction. Contact me, Joe Ranzau (Auction treasurer), or any other TCMA
board member if you have questions or would like to volunteer
(http://www.tcmacaves.org). We'll have fun, there will be some
surprises, and we'll help secure two great caves for our use. I hope to
see you there, and remember, bid high, and bid often!

[Texascavers] TCMA Auction at the Spring Convention

2008-02-20 Thread Linda Palit
First, Anybody hear of any good caves for purchase? WE are looking, and we
need you to look also, and let us know if you see anything. Make sure your
cave contacts know that when or IF they decide to sell, we'd like to know
and have a chance to preserve their cave. But please, be sensitive to land
owner relations and don't scare the owners.

Now, the real purpose of this message. TSA Spring Convention is just a
little over a month away, and it's going to be a great one. And we will
have another TCMA Auction to raise money to purchase more caves. The
Auction depends on you to make it great, so search for that perfect donation
that will make every Bidder up the price! We have local contacts working
all over the state, so pass me the information and we'll get back to you.

Thanks, and hope you're caving this weekend!

Linda
