*Switch to Admin Mode from the dropdown select to enable editing

This was written from the point of view of multiple choice questions
and therefore it:
* numbers the questions in a tiddler
* numbers/names the answers from a through d
* currently has no facilities for setting the current value from a
field, or saving it to a field.

This is the syntax for a question and associated answers:
Q: How long does the handwashing process take?

A:
* 5 min
* 1 - 11/2 min
* 30 sec
* 10 sec

How would you want to specify the field being saved to/loaded from?
What value would you want to save to the field? The text of the
selection, its associated letter (a-d) ?

[tw] Re: Sending tiddlywikiform and gathering the information - howto??

2009-03-05 Thread Saq Imtiaz

Alex:

With regards to the first project you mention, I think this is outside
the scope of the forms work and perhaps closer to the work I've been
doing on the student notebook project:
http://lewcid.org/2009/02/11/student-notebook-workflow-demo-and-screencast/

If you could start a new thread describing step by step exactly what
you need, I might be able to guide you as to what the available
options are.

The second project requires that the form data in a questionnaire
format sorted. This could be by e-mail, but it would be good if the
team members could submit there forms ajax style. If the project takes
off, the data would be best collected into a database on a server
 (mySQL has been recommended)

The forms work we're doing is mostly focused around aggregating the
form data in a customized TiddlyWeb server, with admin users able to
see all the data. As such that would be the database being used for
storage. However, there is no reason you couldn't further push that
data out to a mySQL db if you wanted, the system is designed with such
exports in mind. I'm curious, what is the reasoning/purpose of having
the data in mySQL? I assume its related to what the data will be used
for later?

I currently use Udo's data, forms and foreachTiddler plugins.  I would
quite like to continue to use them. Is it possible, or are these more
 suited for local use?

Our forms solution is agnostic of the plugins used to set up the
forms. We are in the process of evaluating different ways of
implementing forms in TiddlyWiki with the two front-runners being the
type of form Eric created for the UnaMesa Academy (which Måns
translated) and forms implemented using the inputEx library. (demo:
http://peermore.com:9998/forms/0bd6a30e-fddd-4564-99d9-d56f69e7e326 ,
inputEX library: http://javascript.neyric.com/inputex/ ) However, the
code that does the form submission and storage on the server does not
care what plugins are used for the forms.

I've got MAMP in my Mac: Need to read up some server basics; nothing working
 yet
I think I would like to use TiddlyWeb, but am a little way off
 understanding it yet.

I'm in the same boat there. Chris Dent has been leading the way with
the forms development and I've focused on the associated client-side
work. However I'm sure that we could guide you through it. Just to
clarify a few points that if you were to use our forms solution:
a) the TiddlyWeb server would need to be accessible online (or via
intranet if your users will be on one)
b) we're still in very early developmental stages so the solution wont
be polished and will require some tinkering and manual work.
c) you will need to accept that you're an alpha tester and all the
usual fun that comes with that. :)

Also, what is your timeline? When does your project start and what
will be its duration? If we decided to go down this road together I'll
need to check with Chris that we can get something ready for you in
time.

It is really helpful to hear about how different people would use
TiddlyWiki based forms and will help us deliver a service that the
community will find useful. Hopefully there's enough overlap here for
us to work together but if nothing else, thanks for sharing the work
you're doing Alex.

Cheers,
Saq

[tw] Re: Sending tiddlywikiform and gathering the information - howto??

2009-03-05 Thread Alex Hough

I'm curious, what is the reasoning/purpose of having
the data in mySQL? I assume its related to what the data will be used
 for later?

One of the members[1] of SCiO [2] (an organization to which I belong)
to has a 'fractal database' technique which enables the modeling of
systems using the Viable System Model [3] which as a recursive fractal
like structure. He uses mySQL and does stuff in quite large projects.
For the project I am doing, he thinks that the full fractal database
treatment is overly complex. Somewhere down the line though, I would
like to think that my TW could be used across a large organization to
gain multiply perspectives on that organization. The ability to save
this data onto a database so that existing custom tools, such as the
Mircosoft ones created by the member of the group, running off a type
of 'fractal database' appeal to me.

I also know this much: the second 'M' in 'MAMP is mySQL! - so it must
be part of what needs to be done right!???!?!?! ;)

Also, what is your timeline?
The most pressing is the first project - that academic writing project
for the mental health care trust. I can demo my existing TW to them
and it would be great if they could also see a web based application
or even better one which can run on their intranet, which is , i
think, 'Sharepoint'.
But there is a big but - there is no guarantee that they will take it
up and be able to commit to it being operational.
The project is up for re-newal (or not!) at the end of May.
**If it is ok, I would rather talk about this one off list. There may
be some interesting ideas which we could talk about, but i'm not
really sure if the people i am working with would like the details of
the project on the web.

Another project has come up today after I demoed one of the
questionnaire TWs. This has not been put into a timeline either, but
is less time critical, but has more chance of being completed. My
academic friend was asking who owned the copyright this very morning
(-- i showed him UnaMesa on the code -- and he noted it down.) This
project is likely to have some IP issues. There is potentially parts
of a book [4] going into the TW to surround the questionnaire. The
accademic in question is keen also to explore creativity and IP (open
innovation is on his radar, but creative commons is not) with one of
his DBA students who has a keen interest in IP and software
innovation.

The other projects are not managed to a timeline. Part of the problem
is that I can't commit to a deadline as I don't know how long it will
take for me to deliver so I have not stuck my neck out. I did slightly
today - i thought that i would be 6 months before it would be up and
running with web enabled features.

If we decided to go down this road together I'll need to check with Chris that
we can get something ready for you in
time.
I don't want to put you out, but that would be great. I might be able
to work it into another project I am currently writing a proposal for;
a public engagement project. It combines systems, community groups
and IT. For this project, one of my potential partners is a seasoned
IT architect and wants to use DSDM V4.2 [5] to run things to a plan.
So in this case, we could manage the timeline as part of a proposal,
and if the proposal was taken up, i think it reasonable that your
support be incorporated into the budget. (the funding director might
like this). My potential partner is keen that the proposal is managed
to make sure that the project proposal can deliver what it promises at
the right time and price - she rightly has spotted that I am not an
expert software developer and has rightly identified areas of risk.
**again, probably best to talk more about this off line.

c) you will need to accept that you're an alpha tester and all the usual fun
that comes with that. :)

This sounds excellent. I would love to be an alpha tester. It would be
a great honor. Please sign me up! I think it would inspire confidence
in others so that they would be more willing to embrace the TiddlyWiki
way. I hope that my contribution will have some value; one of the
things I have thought about is making the work on the TWs I develop
available for distribution to non-profits - but this is something I
need to talk about with the organizations. I don't want your kind help
to be a one way thing, i would like to help as well as be helped.

So that I can put some feelers out, what kind of time do you think it
would take to get something focused around aggregating the form data
in a customized TiddlyWeb server, with admin users able to see all the
data.? I have already got my TW questionaire.

If I could demo this I could get the systems questionnaire project
going as soon as - I am seeing them on this Sunday, they would be very
excited to see something that worked, even something quite shaky.

Best Wishes

Alex

TagglyTagging has nothing to do with the appearance of tagging. It has
to do with the way tags function. As I understand it, the basic idea
is that tags can also be tiddlers, which allows for the introduction
of hierarchical structure into tagging.

The best explanation I've seen is in Daniel Baird's introduction to
MonkeyPirateTiddlyWiki here.
http://mptw.tiddlyspot.com/ Check out Using 'TagglyTagging' to
organize your data in the Welcome tiddler.

There are several plugins that change the way tagging is done and
displayed. I believe several of them are used in MPTW. I use
TaggerPlugin http://tw.lewcid.org//#TaggerPlugin which provides
for toggling of tags in the tag list as well as creating and renaming

I've just replied via email. We can continue the discussion here later
once we've sorted through some of the details.
Cheers,

[tw] Re: how to have header fixed?

2009-03-05 Thread FND

Is there a better way to have the header fixed on top?

Fixed positioning is a tricky issue - for the reasons you've already
mentioned, but also because it's not very well supported across browsers*.

We've struggled with similar issues before, e.g. WRT the message area.
Chances are we'll look into it again in the future, but don't hold your
breath.

Very smart Andrew.

leeand00 - I like the way your website folds up the timeline into
months. How do you achieve this? Plugin?

[tw] Delete All Tagged Tiddlers + Tiddler Tag

2009-03-05 Thread Mike

I have found a few variations of the DeleteAllTagged Plugin

Is their a way to delete all tagged tiddler + the tag?

IE - Tiddler = Project12, and has 20 tiddler tagged as Project12, one
macro that will delete the Project12 tiddler + the 20 tiddlers tagged
as Project 12

I have found the following Plugins:
http://ido-xp.tiddlyspot.com/#DeleteAllTaggedPlugin
http://trac.tiddlywiki.org/browser/Trunk/contributors/SimonBaird/mgtd3/supporting/DeleteAllTagged.js?rev=4806

2009-03-05 Thread Alex Hough

Yes very neat - ive got it on mine too! thanks for pointing it out David.

Its done with ArchivedTimeline.

Works with the latest beta too.

The plugin has a link to prince TW[1]
PrinceTiddlyWiki is a TiddlyWiki Adaptation, it is separated the code
of TiddlyWiki core javascript and extensiones into external js files
: what advantages does this bring?

[tw] Re: Midstream index FET

2009-03-05 Thread cmari

Hi Dave,
I'm sure there are more elegant ways to do it, but it should be
possible to use:
forEachTiddler
where
'tiddler.tags.contains(basic)'
write
'(index 4 index 18) ? * [[+tiddler.title+]]\n : '

 Hello,

another FET question here.  This example:

 forEachTiddler

     write
         '(index 10) ? * [[+tiddler.title+]]\n : '

from Udo's site lists the first 9 tiddlers described, but not the ones
after that.  Is there a way to put it so that the output would be, say
the 5th through the 17th, but not before or after?

 Thanks,
 Dave Parker
