export.html appears as text D3

2009-12-15 Thread Jonas Thomas
Hello,
I hate to be a pain here. But I don't know if I hosed something or
not.

I found the backstage export to be convenient to export my archived
actions and projects and then delete them after I did the export.

I thought I was dumping data into a blank D3 file and I could look at
what I archived later.

It seems like everything was working correctly except when executed
export.html everything appeared as gibberish. (See below. )

I wanted to keep track of completed projects and this seemed(at the
time) to be an efficient method of doing this.

Is there a way to get the export.html file to display properly?
If not, I suppose I should attempt to import data into a blank D3

Reading the D3 specific documentation I got the impression you could
backup a complete file with archive information and the purge the main
file of the archive.

I want to keep a file of just completed projects and actions. I've
got to think that this has been discussed, but for apparently, I
haven't stumbled on the magic search terms...

Thanks,
JT

Monkey GTD performance

2009-12-15 Thread Marijn Vriens
Hi all,

I've been using MonkeyGTD for organizing my work and personal issues,
with quite some success. I've really found it useful for maintaining
my own information.

However, It seems to become a victim of that same success. As it's
starting to run slower and slower everyday. I already turned of
animations and such. It's becoming a multi-second wait to reassign a
action to a different project, associate someone with an action, or
creating an action.

I have around 450 tidders at the moment.

My setup might be a bit non standard, since I am running MonkeyGTD
ontop of tiddlyweb. However I have looked at the network usage, and
it's really quite minimal and the wait doesn't seem related to network
lags.

My browsers are FF3 and FF3.5 on Linux and WinXP.

I have the feeling the JS walking over each tiddler in turn to when
assigning values. Is this correct? Can I change something to make
things faster, maybe loosing something else.

Any hints on how to improve performance? I wouldn't mind spending time
improving this my self, but honestly, i don't understand enough about
tiddlywiki to know where to start looking.

[tw] Shadowtiddlers and excludeLists/excludeSearch

2009-12-15 Thread Jonnan
This is a niggling annoyance rather than anything important, but maybe
it's a niggling annoyance there's already a plugin for.

I use [tag[DefaultTiddlers]] in DefaultTiddlers to simply make
anything tagged DefaultTiddlers show up on first opening, and
similarly I tag anything I want in the lefthand column with MainMenu.

But I like this to be otherwise behind the scenes and not listed in
the side tags, so I tag MainMenu and DefaultTiddlers with
excludeLists. Of course, as soon as you do this, these now exist as
regular Tiddlers, so you have to tag them with excludeSearch to ensure
a search doesn't accidentally return them as results. All of which
also applies to various other 'important' tags like systemConfig,
excludeLists and excludeSearch themselves (Which I have added to the
shadowtiddlers so I can find them despite hiding from the main view)
et al.

All of which is fine in the grand scheme of things, but if there is a
plugin out there that simply automatically treats *any* shadowtiddler
as if it were on the excludeSearch / excludeLists filters despite
whether o not it actually exists as a regular tiddler (Only in the
same way something explicitly added to the excludeLists tag is
normally treated - I.E., [tag[DefaultTiddlers]] still needs to show
the entire list, or it's pointless - G), it would clean things up
considerably.

If anyone is familiar with a plugin that does this, I'd be much
obliged - Thanks

Jonnan

[tw] Introduction 2 new macros SelectStoryMacro and StoryGlueMacro

2009-12-15 Thread PMario
Introduction 2 new macros SelectStoryMacro and StoryGlueMacro

I want to introduce 2 new macros which I made for using with
navigation and stories.

First: [1]SelectStoryMacro which can switch between different
tiddlers, that contain stories.

Second: StoryGlueMacro which makes NavigationMacro and
SelectStoryMacro work together. It searches all tiddlers tagged:
eg:story. If a tiddler is displayed and belongs to the active story
NavigationMacro is activated.

If the tiddler belongs to an other tagged story, SelectStoryMacro is
activated with a list of valid stories. If you click the new story,
this story will be the active story now.

StoryGlueMacro should be included in the ViewTemplate.

SelectStoryMacro can be called everywhere. It needs a cookie name and
a list of tiddlers which contain stories. Since it can handle
different cookie names it can be used to swich between different sets
of stories. [3]

There are two additional small macros, that evaluate and render a
small script. They can be used in the MainMenu for displaying the
active presentation. A CSS class can be optionally used to use a
StyleSheet for configuration.
varDisplay {{your script here}} 'CSSclass'
varWikify {{your script here}} 'CSSclass'

You should also have a look at my experimental jQuery plugin jQSorter
[4] which nicely fits to this two macros. It is dicussed at [5]

Have fun.

[tw] Re: unable to save in Chrome Mac due to no Java support.

2009-12-15 Thread Mark S.
Hi Eric,

I'm having difficulty. Can you explain how this works?

To test, I loaded the Rescue plugin. I created a tiddler (RescueTest)
with the tiddler RescueStoreArea. I saved and reloaded. Then I
went and modified exactly one tiddler. I opened the RescueTest
tiddler. I clicked on the link. It popped up and told me to save the
text. It put the text in another tab. Looking at the text, there is
way more being saved then in the one change I made. So maybe its
saving everything that has been modified in the last day or two, not
just the dirty stuff modified in the current session?

Next I opened a text file and saved the contents created by RescueTest
into it. I went back to the original TW and reloaded in order to lose
the changes. I tried to import from the save file, but it said
error getting list of tiddlers.

So at this point I have a largish file that contains some duplicates
of my non-changed existing tiddlers, including ones that don't need to
be saved, and no way to recreate them without painstakingly sifting
through the text file.

What would be preferable is to either have *everything* generated
necessary to recreate the TW (as if we could do a view source that
included active javascript) or to just have the dirty changes in a
format that can be readily imported into a tw.

Thanks!
Mark

[tw] Re: FileDropPlugin not creating a new tiddler when dropping pdf file

open in Word.  So it seems obvious that this isn't an Adobe related
issue.  Also upgrade Firefox from 3.5.1 to 3.5.5, but that didn't make
 a difference either.

tried to use it myself and it's not working.  When I drop a pdf file

the browser opens the pdf file for viewing within the browser. I
checked the about:config setting as suggested by Eric in the
FileDropPlugin usage notes, and have the same problem whether the
setting is set to true or false.

My assumption is that the problem is with a setting in either Adobe
Reader or in Firefox.  I did recently upgrade Adobe Reader from ver
8.x to ver 9.2.0.  I think everyone else in our office is using ver
8.x, but I had to upgrade to maintain compatibility with another
  application that uses reader.

I have discovered that by updating FileDropPlugin from ver. 0.1.1 to
the most current version the problem is fixed.  So I know how to
correct the problem for the future, but we have a ton of TW's that are
using the old version of FileDropPlugin without any complaint.  So I
guess I'd like to know exactly what the source of the problem is that
I experience on my machine so the other users don't run into the same
  problem I just encountered.

All TW linked pdf files are locally stored.  Firefox is ver. 3.5.x
TW core is ver. 2.2.5 or 2.4.1

[tw] Re: Introduction 2 new macros SelectStoryMacro and StoryGlueMacro

2009-12-15 Thread Eric Shulman
On the PluginManager it shows: Error: Expected identifier, string or

This error is typically caused by a trailing comma following the last
element of an object declaration. For example:

config.macros.myMacro = {
   handler: function(...)
  {...},
   someValue: text,
   someFlag: true,
}

Note the last comma (,)... Most javascript interpreters handle it just
fine... but IE complains because there is no identifier, string or
number following that comma.

The fix is trivial: remove the extra trailing comma.

On the PluginManager it shows: Error: Expected identifier, string or

This error is typically caused by a trailing comma following the last
element of an object declaration.  For example:

 config.macros.myMacro = {
    handler: function(...)
       {...},
    someValue: text,
    someFlag: true,

 }

Note the last comma (,)... Most javascript interpreters handle it just
fine... but IE complains because there is no identifier, string or
 number following that comma.

The fix is trivial: remove the extra trailing comma.
