Docs in a sorry state
Heavy user of mGSD here, love it. The practices and organization of documentation need a good deal of help though. I am using 3.1.7. The latest version mentioned on the blog is currently 3.1.6. The actual latest version is 3.1.8c, which I only found out by chancing to download a new blank copy. mGSD does not publish a changelog, so I have no way of knowing what the differences are between any given versions. The main website has almost no information about mGSD. It sends me to a separate resource for documentation, http://tiddlywiki.org/wiki/MonkeyGTD, which no longer exists, and to yet another site for the blog. I found out through a blog post from February 2011 that the docs have moved. So when I go to the new docs, and click on the Updating instructions, I find that they don't work (0 tiddlers to import). This all makes for a very unfriendly experience which limits the reach of your good work on the software. In summary: - Update the links on your http://mgsd.tiddlyspot.com/ website - Fix your upgrade instructions in the docs - Use a standard process for every release that includes posting a full changelog, and at the very least a blog post Long term, please consider actually using mGSD's main website as a convenient source of info about the software. Right now instead of providing the information one would expect, it sends you hunting umpteen different directions to try and glean it out of blog posts and newsgroup topics. Reformat at least the core, basic mGSD documentation into a normal, linear format and put it on the main mGSD website (tiddlers are a frustrating way to read documentation). Include new releases and a changelog on the main website. Realize that you have essentially a functioning, finished product here and treat it that way! :-) -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups GTD TiddlyWiki group. Hi Crys Foab, If you have a TiddlySpace account, just: — go to the backstage area. — Click the left menue. space:yourName — Go to the Include tab and — Include neui-em space. — reload It should activate the neui-em theme. You can start changing the configuration to your needs. I made a short intro video [1], which explain some configuration possibilities. (The video is a little bit outdated but the concept is still the same. GettingStarted tiddler is up to date.) :: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTaovgc4V5w If you mess up something, just rename or delete your tiddler, then my included default tiddler will take over again. Do I have to import every single tiddler from each of them? Only a few of them? To private or to public? In what order? Just include the neui-em space, like described above. If some used plugins need some fixing, you'll get the updates directly form this space. Private/Public I set the chkPrivateMode: variable to true. See SystemSettings tiddler. This means, that every new tiddler is private by default. If you want, that everyone can see them, you need to make them public. click, the pink cycles labeled private and say make public. Everyone can see them now. click again to make private ... If you want to have new tiddlers public by default change SystemSettings … chkPrivateMode: false If you include a space like neui-em you include the public stuff from this space. If I change something there, you get an automatic update. If you change my tiddlers, they are cloned/saved to your space and you need to take care of them. (Public ... everyone sees them) (Private .. only you can see them. Everyone else sees neui-em public stuff with the same name) Will this give me full MPTW functionnality (TagglyTagging, NewHere Button, sorting, columns…) or just a few of these features? There is a new thread in google groups. I created a newTagged command, which can be imported into TS. But there isn't an icon yet.
