Ciao Mat

I have benefited from you stuff a lot over time. Sometimes the gizmo
itself, or, often more, the demonstration of an approach to issues that is
v. enlightening.

One issue. I often recall (half-formed) thoughts of things you made (like:
"that table demo with sleeping headings").
So, question: Do you have a plugin library that would make is easy to find
your gems? :-)

@bimlas

I agree with David the Ahrens is useful. Also, in your case, the writer has
a decent grasp of Zettlekasten, as well as changes some software has made
to the original Luhrman approach.

bimlas wrote:

An issue with *all* the literature around software I have read so far is
that it tends to focus on technical means too much.
The fact is that use of software in the way you want/need is ultimately
based in a *cognitive* need.
You know what you want but need work at how to achieve it.
Using/building tools is a creative act of "meaning making" dependent on
task ("function").

So, as far as books go, I'd look took a *little bit *at general works on
"meaning making" & "creative process" too. Not for solutions as such; but
to aid perspective. Like: Gene Gendlin (e.g. Experiencing & The Creation Of
Meaning), Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (e.g. Flow), Edward de Bono (e.g. Serious
Creativity), Brewster Ghiselin (editor of The Creative Process). A bit of
any of that stuff might help.

Longer term I think that "open tools" like TW, that are ultimately agnostic
on link "philosophy", that permit many enabling modes of linking, will
clarify what good praxis looks like for specific aims. Hopefully, your &
David's approaches could help show some of these more clearly. Folk working
FOR a purpose using a tool that helps.

Best wishes

Good idea! Given you worked at getting tools workable for you would be able
to provide rich, meaningful examples.

FWIW, TW would be a Good tool to demonstrate different approaches in. Its
got the flex to support many approaches. Frankly there is a lack,
generally, on-line of clear on-line examples demonstrating comparatively
where different approaches come out.

[tw5] Re: Advice for a iOS and iPadOS only user

2020-08-09 Thread Ed Heil
Hi Ivan,

Yep, Quine 2 does exactly what you're looking for, in terms of keeping
everything local and syncing to iCloud (or any other sufficiently
featureful file service provider on iOS).

You can indeed insert images, either embedded in the wiki or sitting in a
nearby folder (though this feature might not be available if you're using
something like Dropbox instead of iCloud), and I imagine you could embed
youtube videos though I honestly haven't tried it.

I was trying to use TW on iDevices before Quine 2 came out and Quine 2 was
1000x easier than anything else I tried.

It's just like using a TW locally on your device, with local saving, but of
course if you're using iCloud storage, that local saving will sync to other
devices :)

In personViewTemplate, you have an opening , but no matching

Although it has been common practice to use and as *unmatched *HTML

[tw5] Re: Advice for a iOS and iPadOS only user

2020-08-09 Thread TW Tones
Ivan,

I only recently obtained and Ipod touch to test TiddlyWiki on IOS, So I am
not expert here. However a few useful points

   - Quine may be the only app for tiddlywiki, but it is not the only way
   to use tiddlywiki on iOS
   - Any browser can access a tiddlywiki anywhere on the Internet, LAN etc..
   - Once loaded in a browser tab tiddlywiki can keep running fine until
closed, even if it can't save
   - If you install a node server on your device you can access the
tiddlywikis on that server via local host address
  - There is an equivalent to Termux on Android
  - The trick here is get your device to serve the wiki, then when on
the LAN your desktop can access it on the phone
   - Although not adopted widely the local storage plugin may add the local
save mechanism for tiddlywikis that are "offline" for a period so when they
return to online to the server they then save the changes.
   - At present only a bob server will truly protect you at a tiddler
level, if you access the same tiddlywiki from multiple devices at once.

Regards
Tones

Mat,

Attached is a sideBar width button, that opens a modal, to allow the
SideBar width to be be modified.

It works well for my usage of Sidebar editor, especially on my widescreen
desktop monitors. I share it for two reasons;

   - Perhaps you could add it to the sidebar editor window (steal the code
   or idea) if you want
   - It raises the issue of managing the third Dimension the z-index across
   tools.
  - Do you have a design suggestion for my independent tool so it does
  not clash with sidebar editor
  - Is this one argument for you incorporating the side bar width
  feature in Sidebar editor?

I did exactly this function as part of the InsideTW "page navigation"
interface.

It does a recursive "walk" of a "tag tree", and generates a flat list of
tiddler titles:

\define toc-list(here,max,exclude,level:"1")
<$list filter="""[tag[$here$]] $exclude$ -[[$here$]]""">
   <$link />
   <$reveal default="$level$" type="nomatch" text="$max$">
  <$macrocall $name="toc-list" here=<> max="$max$"
exclude="""$exclude$ -[[$here$]]""" level={{{ [[$level$]add[1]] }}}/>

\end

Invoke it like this:
<>
where "some name" is the top-level tag for your tree.

Notes:
1) There is also an optional "max" parameter to limit the depth of traversal
2) The "exclude" and "level" parameters are only for internal use by the
macro itself
3) The default output just lists each title, one per line. If you want a
bullet list, you could change this line:
<$link />
to this:
<$link />
and if you want a numbered list, also wrap the macro invocation within
..., like this:
<>

enjoy,

Agreed. See update notes below:

* WorldClocks - use "world_format" configuration for easier customization
* SidebarClocks - use sidebar_format (was using default clock_format by
mistake)
* Info - added WorldClocks setup (world_format), revised WorldClocks info
to match setup

2020-08-09 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
To do this in one step, like you want, you would probably need something
like the kin filter operator:

[tw5] Advice for a iOS and iPadOS only user

2020-08-09 Thread IvanPsy
Greetings,
The more I read about TiddlyWiki the more I think is the right tool for my
second brain.
I think Stroll has all the features I need, such as bi-directional links,
reference links, autocompletion, etc...

I have just one question...

Considering I’m only on iPhone and iPad, and that I want to keep all local
(synced on iCloud) can I have all these feature while working on such
devices too?
I read Quine 2 is the only tool to manage a TiddlyWiki on iOS and iPadOS:
can I have those features while working on Quine 2?
How about inserting images and embedding videos from YouTube?

I have access on a PC (Windows), so starting on a PC to setup the base is
not a problem for me, nor accessing fro ma PC here and there for
maintenance purposes, but the daily work would be on an iPhone and an iPad.

Thank you!

[tw5] Filter advanced search

2020-08-09 Thread Bob Flandard
Hello,

I'm trying and failing to write a filter expression that lists all tiddlers
that are tagged "some name" (call this list of tiddlers resultA) and then
extend that list to include all tiddlers that are tagged with the names in
resultA. For the general case this would continue recursively until no new
tiddlers were added to the list.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Bob

[tw5] simple intenal svg switch (not using button widget)

2020-08-09 Thread A Gloom
For a simple internal button for a svg with activation of a svg
element/animation without having to use button widget.

(haven't been at the computer enough to type up the explanation for
tattered tiddlers but this little gem I was able to type up, sneak peek at
tattered tiddlers below)

In code below the has an unique id (startButton)
that the animate element
begin="startButton.click" attribute will use to activate the animation with
the trigger button click.

In attached example tiddler, button activates a bar graph block that grows
from 0 seconds to 8 seconds the minimum, maximum scale marks on the graph.

Any svg shape can be made into a button. Appears that a button controls
one element/group/animation ot animation chain.

Use case: having invisible svg markings or annotations over a embedded
image, foreign object (for a tiddler or iframe) that will appear when the
internal svg button is clicked. Another example: an embedded Google map in
an foreign object iframe with an invisible route that becomes visible with
a button click

Re: [tw5] Re: Time Tracking in TiddlyWiki?

2020-08-09 Thread Pit.W.

Eric,

1. No problems running it so far. It exactly meets what I need for a
task I am working on, so I use it for productivity. All fine so far.
2. Do you plan to pack this into a plugin?
3. I propose to set the default formats for date and time to ISO 8601
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601, to ease the use for newcomers.

Thanks as always,

Pit.W

Update August 8, 17:22pm (PDT): http://TiddlyTools.com/timer.html

* There are a number of significant changes in this update:

1) TiddlyTools/Timer/AnalogClock and TiddlyTools/Timer/DigitalClock
has been combined into TiddlyTools/Timer/Clocks
2) This new combined Clocks tiddler no longer uses "templated
transclusion" (e.g., {{||TiddlyTools/Timer/AnalogClock}}) to embed a
clock in a tiddler.
3) Instead, the new Clocks tiddler defines a <> *macro* that
can be used to embed either the analog or digital clock.
4) This macro also includes parameters for specifying the timezone
"offset" and an optional "format" override for the digital clock.
5) The SidebarClock and WorldClocks tiddlers have been updated to use
the new <> macro instead of transclusions.
6) The WorldClocks tiddler has also been updated to provide a
multi-select list for choosing which places to display.
7) A new tiddler, TiddlyTools/Timer/Places, has been added to define
the list of available places for use with the WorldClocks tiddler.

Documentation for all of the above changes in syntax and usage have
been updated in TiddlyTools/Timer/Info.

Note that, while these changes do not alter the overall functionality,
they do make usage and customization easier and more consistent
by using macro parameters to control clock options, rather than
defining "context variables" to pass those values to the underlying code.

Hopefully these changes don't cause too much grief for anyone who had
been using the previous version...

Please let me know right away if you run into any problems with using
this update.

enjoy,

Be sure to update before the end of February 2024 (the next leap year)
This will be accurate until the year 2100 (which is NOT a leap year)

[tw5] Re: Presenting: SideEditor 2.0 - A live editor floating by the river side...

2020-08-09 Thread amreus
I too am still using SideEditor - quick and convenient. I like the recent
addition of the "toolbar" and buttons.

I am experimenting with styles in TW and I think SideEditor is over-riding
my stylesheet. Can you confirm? I made a sandbox site here:

http://beach.tiddlyspot.com

It is a version 5.1.22 empty other than SideEditor and a Stylesheet.

Thanks
