[tw] UploadPlugin not saving password to cookies now

2012-08-24 Thread Joe
Uploadplugin works perfectly for me with TW 2.6.1 but when I try to upgrade
to the latest version of TiddlyWiki it no longer saves the password cookie.
I tried other versions and it seems that going from 2.6.1 to 2.6.2 breaks
the PasswordOptionPlugin cookie feature. This occurs in Firefox and Chrome.
IE give a Stack Overflow with 2.6.2.

I would keep using 2.6.1 (which works perfectly) but I really want to use
mGSD which is at version 2.6.5.

Any ideas to get the password to save?

Thanks, Joe

[tw] Tiddlywiki5 include other TW file' content question?

2014-01-28 Thread cangaroo joe
Is it possible in TiddlyWiki5 to display the content of one or more
tiddlers which are located in an other TiddlyWiki5 file? TW previous
version supported the includeplugin which made this possible. Also I would
like to include and search all or specific tiddlers from an other TW5 file
inside the main TD5 file.

yes, will future releases of TW5 be able to import the content of TWC files

[tw] Re: how secure is encrypted TW5 and DropBox?

2014-01-29 Thread cangaroo joe

Your idea is not bad. An other solution would be Evernote (online
synchronization and the encryption of sensitive information). Or you can
simply organize your digital documents, notes, etc. in folders then archive
and password protect it with zip or rar archivers and put the package in
dropbox. Truecrypt is the safest but a bit complicated method. I would
never put personal info in the cloud unencrypted. Always make backups of
your data. Take care.

Dear Mal,

Yes linking to external images are not available yet, I added the link tags
and URLs of files in the database waiting for new TW5 updates. Embedding
images in TW5 slowers it down very much (in case you embed hundreds of
images in a single file) and the file size will be much larger than storing
images separately+database.

[tw] testing TW5

I tested TW5 on Firefox 26.0 and TiddlyDesktop 0.0.3. Both tests gave the
same results. I generated 11664 text files each 4017 bytes and dropped 7000
files on TW5.
TW5 could import 1853 files at once, no more. After that I tried to add
more smaller group of files till it created a total number of 2293
tiddlers. The saved TW5 file was 11,4Mb. How can some have 10k or 20k
tiddlers in one file? To edit a tiddler took about 10 sec before saving the
big file. The opening of the saved TW5 file took so much time that I
stopped it.

I am curious about how you use images and other data with TW5? Do you
embeed images especially when you have many photos or do you create links
that point to those images. Those who use everyday TW5 do you store in one
file your data or in multiple files. How do you search the data in case you
have multiple databases? If I create for ea category a separate TW5
database I will have about 25 files. Opening all databases and search the

[tw] (CTW) Alternative SiteSubtitle (multi-language)

2014-02-24 Thread Joe Shirk
I made a nifty resume on my tiddlyspace, in Portuguese but with the
intention to later add a version in English. I put the main index in the
SiteSubtitle to easily navigate from the resume, to work history,
to contact (all in Portuguese, linking to tiddlers in Portuguese). I
put it there because it's always there at the top, no matter what tiddler
is displayed. It seemed a good idea at the time...

Now that I want to add the English version, I thought it would be best to
put an EN link in the SiteSubtitle that swaps the SiteSubtitle for one
with links in English to tiddlers in English (that includes a link to
switch it back to Portuguese). I don't know how to do that.

To make matters complicated, the current default is the Portuguese but now
I would rather make the English version the default. What needs to be done
to accomplish this? I was going to try to avoid linking to a new site and
maintaining them separately because the tags in each would be isolated and
duplicated (I tagged all tiddlers with Portuguese with the intention of
tagging the English versions as such.

If the only way is really convoluted, maybe I need to re-think my strategy
and start over again. At least that way I have an excuse to start fresh
with TW5.

Thank you

Re: [tw] Re: (CTW) Alternative SiteSubtitle (multi-language)

2014-02-24 Thread Joe Shirk
This is great! Thank you so much!

Two notes:

While executing your directions, I discovered that my site anatomy was
wrong, the thing I really need to change is the MainMenu - so I just did
everything you said exchanging SiteSubtitle for MainMenu (I discovered that
the siteSubtitle is obscured by the mainMenu - this is probably because I
must have moved it to the top if it was by default to the left side - I
don't really remember from a year ago.)

In SetMainMenu, the parameters names for the button had to be swapped:
title="$1" value="$2"
because they came out swapped on rendering the button (and setting the
tiddler suffix. Not exactly sure why (at this late hour) but the bottom
line:

This works beautifully!

Re: [tw] Re: (CTW) Alternative SiteSubtitle (multi-language)

2014-02-25 Thread Joe Shirk
After having slept peacefully with this solution, I realized this morning
that there is still something that I did not think about.

After re-writing the MainMenu transclusion, what should happen next is to
open the corresponding DefaultTiddler (English or Portuguese version). I
could easily use the same technique but I doubt that DefaultTiddler will
run again and open the right tiddler, as it is defined as the setting that
opens the default tiddler when the app is first loaded, so I am thinking
that isn't the way to go. There must be a macro that calls the right
tiddler after the menu reloads, but I have not been able to find it in the
Help.

[tw] Re: (TWC) Change to View Template and Edit Template have no effect

2014-02-26 Thread Joe Shirk
i started my tiddlywiki over a year ago, and stopped using it until
recently. but there is a lot of info there. i can only say i imported a
style but i don't remember how, or whose, or where it is. i think this
raises a lot of unknows when one tries new modifications that don't play
well with an unknown background of plugins. is there a way to list these or
see them from a url?

basically i wanted to add a start date and end date field to a resume that
includes a lot of job tiddlers. i added various versions of examples i
found here and on the regular tw sites. in the edit screen, no field
appeared. i thought it was caused by EditFieldPlugin, so i stopped using
it. then i just tried something basic - to change the order of the text
field and the tag field. nothing changed. then i deleted last modified
date. nothing. then i deleted modified by and comments number... then it
hit me, my wiki is not even looking at edit template or view template. i
don't know where to look.

my wiki is at http://joeshirk.tiddlyspace.com/

[tw] Re: manually dismiss (wiki saved) notification?

2014-02-26 Thread Joe Shirk
I am interested in the opposite. on my wiki, the saved wiki toast stays on
top of the edit-close-additional toolbar until i dismiss it. i would rather
it just go away after a few seconds but i have to dismiss it before i can
access the toolbar. but this might be a problem caused by whatever style
plugin i am using.

[tw] Re: what does 'dateline' refer to?

2014-02-27 Thread Joe Shirk
warning to anyone who is thinking about date ranges. after some confusing
red herrings caused by unknowns in a theme, i successfully moved my
tiddlers to a new space with default theme. i created a startDate and
endDate for tiddlers. i created a view template and edit template handler
that shows the fields only when it has a certain tag. BUT

I found that some pages would NOT save the fields, where a few did. I
found that the few that did save had fields shadowing the ones created
startdate and enddate - I take this to be due to some built-in system
variables. not all pages had these fields but apparently something in java
is causing case insensitive name collision.

Bottom line! I had to rename all those fields start_date and end_date to
eliminate this problem.

[tw] TWC how to use list macro

I'm embarking on replacing a static job history with a dynamic
list http://josephshirk.tiddlyspace.com/#%5B%5BWork%20History%20list%5D%5D

that I adapted from reading this stuff below:

http://tiddlywikiguides.org/index.php?title=Getting_started_with_custom_tiddler_fields#Using%20forEachTiddler%20with%20tiddler%20fields

trouble is, the macro does not do anything but list the code i typed there.
there is something missing from the pages above. are they TW5 only? is
there some prerequisite knowledge or plug-in that is not mentioned on these
pages?

I think ALL docs should mention using tags the prerequisites - TW5 TWC or
agnostic, Cor or requires X plugin.

the first problem is that the help texts about
http://tiddlywiki.com/static/ListWidget.html or
http://tiddlywiki.com/static/TiddlerFilters.html does not give a syntax on
how to call the list filter. I assume the method requires an include, such
i tried here Work History [rev. #1674697] (it's not possible to get you a
link to the revision in either firefox or chrome; the links are broken)

use case:
list all tiddlers tagged 'History' in chronological order, that is, fields
start_date end_date link-to-tiddler ordered by end_date (reverse).

but this strategy isn't going to work if the list filter only is
implemented in TW5. In that case, I will have to try the ForEachTiddlerPlugin
., or some other core functionality in TWC

Re: [tw] Re: TWC how to use list macro

2014-03-01 Thread Joe Shirk
I spent many hours on the two methods above, and even FiltrPlugin.

In ForEach, there are problems with my custom (string) dates, which are
showing as undefined.

I just could not get the syntax for core list with match tags right.
I probably won't pursue the avenue of Filtr because not only is there an
error parsing the date string (no method) but it only allows one custom
field, and I have two (start_date and end_date).

I have to find a simpler way to do what I need. I think that i will have to
move my site to a TW5.

Hi Eric, to my horror, today i discovered that this macro only shows code
to non-logged in user. I am discovering that i had a fundamental
misunderstanding about what the purpose of private vs shadow is, and a lot
of imported plugins i imported as private. something is missing from my
'education' in TW. in this case, i cannot determine what the factor is, as
the macro above is public, but must be calling something else that is not
public... what am i doing wrong? thanks!

[tw] Missing Link Style in TW5

2014-04-08 Thread Joe Bush
Is there a way to edit the style of a missing tiddly link? I'd like the
missing links to be red, instead of blending in with the rest of the blue
links, so I can make sure I'm being complete.
Is this best done by CSS, and if so, what's the least intrusive way to edit
the CSS? Is there a way to do it from the Appearance tab?

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I couldn't find anything about
this specifically.

[tw] Listing Tags with Color

2014-04-09 Thread Joe Bush
So I'm listing the tags on a list of tagged tiddlers

<$list filter="[tag[character]]">
<$link to=><$view field="title"/>
-
(<$list filter="[{!!title}tags[]]"><$link to=><$view
field="title"><$fields
tiddler=/>)

which gives me something like this:

AlastairClarkMessner - (character TheUSA)
AuraAI - (character)
AuroraLeitner - (character)
BarnesLeitner - (character TheUSA)
CamilleStephenson - (character TheUSA TheFederation TheAC)
ClarkM - (character)
JustineBaxter - (character TheUSA)
Messner - (character)
FeenHaluxion - (character TheGrandLaraxa)
KeequeProbe - (TheGrandLaraxa character)
KatherineHawke - (character)

But I'm trying to set the background color of the tags in parens using the
Color field of the tiddlers for those tags, so if the "character" tag is
green, character should have a green background after Alastair.

My problem is that doesn't get parsed inside a block of normal
HTML, and I can't figure out how to insert a variable reference inside the
appropriate piece of HTML.

The output HTML looks like:

character

Any Ideas?

Hello all, is there a way to set up a list with a link to delete the
