[tw5] Re: how to edit nodejs tiddlywiki tiddlers via an external text editor

2022-08-18 Thread Zachary Storer
I did find this neovim plugin to let me edit tiddlers in the google chrome
browser via neovim: https://github.com/glacambre/firenvim. it's working
well for me.

[tw5] A TiddlyWiki community book.

2019-09-19 Thread Zachary Storer
Hello,

Is anyone interested in a TiddlyWiki community book? I'm thinking of
something for newbies to TiddlyWiki. The current documentation seems to be
scattered, and I don't know of a good central location to find tutorials on
how TiddlyWiki can be used for various tasks (authoring a book, writing
college notes, Getting Things Done, etc...). Although, I wonder how
difficult it might be to create a book since TiddlyWiki is so flexible with
what it can accomplish. Has anything like this been attempted before?

[tw5] What is a good naming scheme for imported images?

2019-09-09 Thread Zachary Storer
Hello,

When importing images into a tiddler with _canonical_uri, I'm currently
naming the tiddler ImageSkateboard, and then I'm tagging the image with an
[Image] tag.
I'm wondering if there is a better way to name the actual tiddler than
ImageTiddlerNameHere, especially since I already have an [Image] tag.

How do you name and tag tiddlers for imported images or other multimedia?

Thanks.

[tw5] Is it possible to display a local HTML file within a tiddler?

2018-11-20 Thread Zachary Storer
Hello,

I want to archive some blog articles and reference them from within my
TiddlyWiki.
Is there a way to display a locally saved HTML file, and its corresponding

linking into an external browser. I am also using Tiddly Desktop.

Thanks,

[tw5] Re: Timimi plugin - released for firefox/chrome/chromium in linux/mac/windows

This plugin is working for me on Kubuntu 18.04LTS. One suggestion that I
might make is to allow the user to disable the pop-up bubble that says
"Saved wiki". It can get distracting for me, and the saved checkmark icon
within TiddlyWiki serves the same function.

Which of these plugins works best with an out-of-box TiddlyWiki5 empty.html

Also, how do I actually find and properly install either of these two

Here are the links that I have:

KaTeX: https://tiddlywiki.com/plugins/tiddlywiki/katex/

[tw5] TiddlyDesktop keyboard shortcuts

2018-05-25 Thread Zachary Storer
Hello,

Is there a way to configure keyboard shortcuts for TiddlyDesktop? I want to
add some vim text editor keybindings.

Thanks,

Should I add a feature request for this on GitHub?

[tw5] Feature request - canonical uri button.

2018-05-15 Thread Zachary Storer
Hello,

I wish that there was a more intelligent [import] button that could link to
external images without the need
for manually inserting the _canonical_uri field. This is a feature
request(?). I don't know how difficult it would
be to add this. Perhaps I can learn some JavaScript and make a plugin for
it, or perhaps there already is a plugin?

[tw5] Re: How to properly embed and inject an image into a TiddlyWiki HTML file?

2018-04-27 Thread Zachary Storer
Oh, nice! Thanks. Yeah, I now see the Import button under the tools menu.
For this particular TiddlyWiki I don't have very large image, audio, or PDF
files, and I just want to quickly share it, so a single .html file seemed
convenient to me. Most of the time I do indeed plan to use external images.

Anyway, thanks.

[tw5] How to properly embed an image into a TiddlyWiki HTML file?

2018-04-27 Thread Zachary Storer
Hello,

For some reason my search of this mailing list isn't popping up with a
proper answer to this question for me.
Anyway, how do I properly embed and inject an image into a TiddlyWiki HTML
file without keeping an external directory for images?
Also, can I do this with other media as well, such as with PDF files or
Audio?

Thanks,

-

[tw] Hello World!

2015-03-03 Thread Zachary Storer
Hello World!

I'm a newbie TiddlyWiki5 user. So, far I'm really enjoying it quite a lot.
(For my needs, I like it better then Evernote because I can customize it).
Anyway, I've submitted a few posts to g+ about my joy of using TiddlyWiki
thus far. I plan to write some tutorials that I will post somewhere for
newbies, based on my learning experiences, and my personal workflows. I
hope to also contribute documentation and tiddlers for the main
http://tiddlerwiki.com/ homepage via GitHub.
I can't believe I hadn't discovered TiddlerWiki sooner! I'm using it for
the following use cases right now: Web Bookmarks / Contact Manager / Image
Gallery / Research / TODO List management / Project Management /
Brainstorms / embedded PDF galleries / etc.. I am starting to see more and
more uses for it as I keep learning more. I've only used TiddlyWiki for
like three days now. I hadn't ever used anything like tagging / tags
before, and wow... They are really powerful and cool.
Thanks for making this really super useful app. Perhaps eventually I may
contribute some plugins too. Thanks!

[tw] Tag naming conventions.

2015-03-03 Thread Zachary Storer
Hi everyone,

I'm curious as to how you name your tags. Also Captial cased tags versus
lowercase tags. I'm using something like ALL CAPS for things like BOOKMARK,
TODO, PROJECT, GOAL, MILESTONE, IMAGE, PDF, AUDIO, VIDEO, etc... I'm also
using a naming convention like myDATA for files that are stored locally
relative to my tiddlywiki's root directory. I also use Zachary Storer, John
Lennon, Yoko Ono, and First Last, for tags that are names of people. I've
been using a naming convention like: naming a tag BDAY, and then naming
MONTH January, and naming YEAR 1. I'm kind of structuring the tags so that
I can really filter them for different table of contents, that I'm tagging
with TOC. I also have a GALLERY tag for image / pdf / audio / video /
embedded youtube, galleries. What else am I doing...? I'm a huge fan of the
film and story of the Sound of Music. So I'm labeling my favorite tiddlers
with FAVORITE, then I have a tiddler that filters all of them called: My
Favorite Things. I then have a TOC filter tiddlers on my home screen:
[[advanced search]] [[My Favorite Things]] [[Brainstorm]] [[Work]]
[[Projects]] [[Tasks for Today]] [[Todo]] [[ Bookmarks]].

I am working on making a TiddlyWiki for tiddlyspace soon, so you guys can
really see what I'm doing. Perhaps you guys may have tips and tricks, or
better naming conventions for tags. Please let me know.. Thanks!

2015-03-03 Thread Zachary Storer
Heh, your smiley reminds me of the animated film The Point, narrated by the
Beatle Ringo Star. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067595/
:-)

As tags are quite often also tiddlers, I mostly stick with Title,
SomeTitle or Some title. Occasionally title but that is mostly for
very special tags or e.g pdf where Pdf wouldn't make sense.

I guess the naming convention is affected by how you *use* the tags. Are
they pure tags or are they actually tiddler titles? Or maybe strictly
category titles? Or keywords merely for search?

 :-)

Hey, thanks everyone. Sure, I will make a version at tiddlyspot so you can
see my workflows, and I can post ideas about tutorials there. I think a
peer review of my processes and workflows would be a good idea. I'm kind of
doing this totally organically, and perhaps people have better ways of
doing things. One thing I would like to learn about from you guys is tag
naming conventions. I'll post a new thread on this question. I started
first with web bookmarks, and got used to that.
