Thanks so much, Birthe. Simply knowing that someone recently used the app
from Arlen Beiler is reassuring and helpful. Thanks for taking the time to
share how you used it and under what circumstances.

Thanks,

Hi dlh,
I am sure it was not anything you said. You are more than welcome to ask
questions.

I am sure you know, that you can view your dropbox directories and files on
the web, when logged in. With the app from Arlen Beiler, you are able to
open your wiki, edit and save it.
I used it yesterday setting up af new computer. With dropbox account
limited to 3 devices, It did not install dropbox on this new computer. But
I needed some of the information in one of my wikis.
Sure enough I got a mail asking if it was me logging in.

I think you should try it out yourself, just to get a feeling of how it
works. Even if you normally work in another way it is nice to know your
options, when needed.

[tw5] Single File TW: Dropbox vs. "TW5 in the Sky for Dropbox"

2021-02-25 Thread Dan Hoffman
Hi All,

I'd like to better understand how to use TW with Dropbox. Currently, I'm
using TiddlyDesktop (0.0.14) with a single file TW.

My understanding is using TW with a service like Dropbox might provide two
benefits: 1) the ability to have a cloud backup of my TW, and 2) the
ability to access my TW on another device (after syncing of course).

Assuming this is semi-correct, what's the difference between 1) saving a
single file TW in a Dropbox folder and letting Dropbox do its thing, and 2)
using @Arlene22's "TiddlyWiki5 in the Sky for Dropbox"
? Are there advantages and
disadvantages to each approach?

I apologize if this has already been addressed. I've tried searching the
community but haven't seen/found a simple explanation on this.

Thank you for helping a newcomer along 👍

Looks like my date is the same as Jeremy's, as I have Dropbox pro as well.
I guess that means I will have to find a place for Twits5-Dropbox. Jeremy,
would you be able to host it?

Not that I have the time to do it right now. But maybe sometime yet this
winter.

Re: [tw] Dropbox no longer serving HTMTL files?

2016-09-01 Thread Danielo Rodríguez
Couchdb (and by extension cloudant too) is able to serve html documents. This
have the advantage that your wiki is being served from the same domain where
your data is stored, so CORS restrictions do not apply, and hence security
increases (no need to enable CORS).
Noteself can be used as client for any couchdb, including one that is serving
it.
Noteself in fact installs a special document (a view) on every DB it connects
to. This document is required for requesting skinny tiddlers, so it does 50% of
the installation process for any plugin that does not use pouchdb (there is
one!).

Maybe I can create a Noteself edition that does the entire installation
process, but that would require CORS, at least during the installation.

As I said, Noteself can act as client, with the extra advantage of caching the
tiddlers locally, and requesting only the new ones.

I assume this means that it won't be possible to host your TW out on the

[tw] Dropbox no longer serving HTMTL files?

2016-09-01 Thread Steven Schneider
Has anyone received this email from Dropbox:

We’re writing to let you know that we’ll be discontinuing the ability to
render HTML content in-browser via shared links or Public Folder.

If you're using Dropbox shared links to host HTML files for a website, the
content will no longer display in-browser.

Please note that this change will take effect for your account on October
3, 2016, and only impacts how shared files are displayed on the web. Your
files will remain safe in Dropbox.

Thanks for being a loyal Dropbox user.

-The Dropbox Team

I have a paid account, pre-2012 with a public folder, so perhaps I'm
exempt? But this seems like a problem for those of us who use DropBox to
serve TW files. Any alternatives out there that folks are familiar with?

[tw] DropBox

2016-02-04 Thread wardjh
Hello.

I am a student just learning TiddlyWiki for a college course.

I have noticed that when running some scripts in my TiddlyWiki they seem to
work on my local drive. When uploaded to Dropbox they don't seem to work.

When I uploaded the same TiddlyWiki file to my server the scripts worked
great.

See the examples:

   - My Dropbox TiddlyWiki

   - My server TiddlyWiki

Notice the twitter follow script on my server TiddlyWiki on the bottom of
my landing page on both TiddlyWikis
This would make me believe that we are very limited how Dropbox is as a
host.

Any thoughts on if there might be a work around in Dropbox, as other
students don't have the option of having their own server.

Thanks,

Here is my tiddler:

Here are the models that I personally like:

You may be interested in these two iPad apps that give you a way to
use TiddlyWiki in your DropBox:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/twedit/id409607956?mt=8
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/tiddlynotes/id465930290?mt=8

Otherwise, as Hans says, you can straightforwardly get a read-only
view of TiddlyWiki files in your DropBox.

TiddlyWiki5 will indeed soon give a lot more flexibility in terms of
letting you store tiddlers as individual files in your dropbox, but
it's not yet in a usable state for end users.

[tw] Dropbox sync

2012-02-19 Thread Terry
Is it possible to sync the contents on my TiddlyWiki with Dropbox -
this would be useful as Ipad version just been released so it would be
nice to share the content across devices.

[tw] DropBox TW : publishing and including for groups on the "public" Dropbox

2011-05-11 Thread Bauwe Bijl
Hi everybody

This time the export html (pure store) and a include tiddlers
tiddlywiki is worked out on the public side op DropBox ... so anyone
interested can join in ... from your local public DropBox folder!

I started a new post about dropbox and tw...
New because here is one of the options we explored and worked out..the
other post is about exploring more optionsthis is just one that
works -ish.

To make things work you need the following conditions...

1) DropBox installed on your PC
2) inside the Public folder a folder named : DropBoxPublisher
3) the DropBox PUBLISHER TiddlyWiki inside that folder [1]

About the DropBox PUBLISHER (publishnotes.html):
This is a very simplified TiddlyWiki ... configured to work with the
including "public tw".
(since "notes" are "hip" @april... I was curious how such would
work ... so I made a basic NoteTiddlyWiki ...mockup...working a
little)

features:
only 1 type of tiddlers can be created (tagged "note" is default ... a
la newJournal)
Autosafe to "backup" is true
no sidebar/tabs etc.. just a list for the tiddlers tagged
"note" (tweaker bookmarklet can be used to rip the tw apart)
No option to set siteTitle etc. ... use as is
Export plugin installed ... so a export html file will be created in
the:
 /Public/DropBoxPublisher/ (if publishnotes.html is also there !
important)

You can download the Notepublisher (publishnotes.html [1] ) here:

Note Publisher
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9670094/DropBoxPublisher/publishnotes.html
(save as - html only ... )

More info is inside the PublishNotes TiddlyWiki (publishnotes.html)
links:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9670094/DropBoxPublisher/publishnotes.html#PublishNotes

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9670094/DropBoxPublisher/publishnotes.html#TiddlyWiki

What happens:
as you can see ... all urls from DropBox folder /Public//
DropBoxPublisher/
are similarapart from that number
Alex: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1316865/DropBoxPublisher/export.html
Bauwe: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9670094/DropBoxPublisher/export.html

This is because the default path of the export plugin is build up that
way (I adjusted the plugin so the default option is the PureStore to
export

So if you create tiddlers (Notes) and tag them with your name we can
Include them in lists inside the Include TiddlyWiki
So you "publish" in there via your own desktopfolder (all possible
since it's the same domain)

You can reach that tiddlywiki here:
TiddlyWiki DropBox Includer
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9670094/TiddlyWikiDBIncluder/twdbinc.html

At the moment TiddlyWiki DropBox Includer [2] is Recieving:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1316865/DropBoxPublisher/export.html (tag
"alex")
and
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9670094/DropBoxPublisher/export.html (tag
"bauwe")

You can also check in the TiddlyWiki DropBox Includer's IncludeList
what urls are included.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9670094/TiddlyWikiDBIncluder/twdbinc.html#IncludeList

Everybody is invited to post tiddlers via this method in their
DropBox
... just have the paths ok and post me the url of your:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/ [your unique number here ] /DropBoxPublisher/
export.html
and tell me which name you add to the tags (just post here ... like
the rest of the "Public" DropBox url's of TiddlyWiki's are posted in
this group.

Next:
Also the Includer
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9670094/TiddlyWikiDBIncluder/twdbinc.html
can be downloaded (all the urls and include plugin inside) so
developers can give a twist on the workings...explore ideas (ask for
more tags etc.)..add scripts...explore and brake
I used a vanilla tw as Includeralso interesting how people would
shape that to their needs...
These new includers.html's can be linked in this group again.

Last ...
I'm aware of the over-simplified concepts used here ...it's about
giving "shapes" to an idea.
... and inspiring others ... even if you dislike (also that generates
ideas)

Enjoy!

Bauwe

[tw] Dropbox + Pyndexer + Tiddlywiki

2010-03-26 Thread Iggy
Hi everybody,

1.- As a Dropbox user, I was looking for a script or program that
could create an HTML list of the files and folders out of the files
and folders in my Dropbox public folder. I found Pyndexer, which does
very simple its work (at least in a Mac), including all folders,
subfolders and files in the public Dropbox folder.

Pyndexer: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/552/pyndexer/README-FIRST.html

I was wondering if anybody has come out with a plugin, macro o similar
for Tiddlywiki, which, whether by using Pyndexer or any other script,
could automatically create tiddlers for each file within the Dropbox
public folder, and include, in each of the tiddlers created, the
public link to the file, as provided by Dropbox. Ideally that would be
something generating something like this:

-TIDDLER TITLE: the file name
-TIDDLER TEXT: the public link to the file, as provided by Dropbox.
-TIDDLER TAG: the name of the folder in which the file is placed

2.- If not possible a plugin like that, do you recommend a quick way
in order to, once I have created an HTML list of files with Pyndexer,
get all the links in that HTML file and create the tiddlers to each
file?

Thanks. Regards

Iggy.
