2017-11-22 Thread Eric Weir
Thanks, Alfonso. My apologies for the late response. As I said, I don't
make that active use of TiddlyWiki anymore. Just don't want to lose it.
It's possible that resolving this issue will get me more active again.

I'm checking out your suggestion as well as the others. A question about
yours: Is it necessary to install Portable Firefox on a portable drive, a
USB drive? Can I install it to my applications folder like regular Firefox?

Thanks again,

Eric

[tw] Re: TiddlyDesktop

2017-11-17 Thread Alfonso Arciniega
Iain and Mark,

   1. Firefox Portable Legacy 36_3.6.28 (FPL) is noticeable faster than
   TiddlyDesktop and does not have any issues with TWC;
   2. FPL may be used portable (even running from an USB is faster that TW
   Deskop installed locally), and occupies less than half the size;
   3. FPL is able to run some TWC plugins that TiddlyDesktop cannot (e.g.
   LessBackupsPlugin by Simon Baird)
   4. My two TWC TW's are version 2.8.1; upgrading them to 2.9.0 beta 3
   won't do anything;

I tried converting my two large and highly customized Gething Things Done
(mGSD) TW's to TW5 Cardo 1.0. However, I believe Cardo is still in
development. This task would be too much effort for half the gain at this
point in time; maybe in the future.

2017-11-17 Thread Alfonso Arciniega
For everyone that still use TWC, I recommend do not use TiddlyDesktop (any
version).

I use TWC daily due to a couple of TW's that cannot be converted to TW5
TW's due to the extensive use of customization and plugins and large amount
of data.

The best solution to me is to have a portable version of an old version of
FF for exclusive use of these TWC TW's. This version is very small, super
fast, does not messes with other programs or options, and may run out of an
USB. The only caveats are that it cannot be run with another FF version at
the same time, and cannot open TW5 TW's.

Download the FF portable, almost any language you want, from:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/Mozilla%20Firefox%2C%20Portable%20Ed./Mozilla%20Firefox%2C%20Portable%20Edition%203.6.28/

I think that it is a problem in the EditorCounter plugin. It is based on
some things I made and it is possible that the parsing is getting confused
by the < character. And the initial error seems to be caused by an
oversight on my part, the basic widget isn't checking to make sure that
there is a text field before checking its length. I will try to fix the
widget later but the EditorCounter plugin will also need to be updated and
I don't have access to that.

Hi ,
Thanks for coming back to me.

The error
'Uncaught TypeError:Cannot read property 'length' of null'

pops up when I put the cursor in the place of the actual body of writing
the tiddlers.
When I put the sign ' < ' the error pops up.

I did not do any actual customization to the TD.

My plugins are the following:

[[$:/plugins/telmiger/Clipboard]]

[[$:/plugins/telmiger/details]]

[[$:/plugins/telmiger/EditorCounter]]

[[$:/plugins/telmiger/listreveal]]

[[$:/plugins/telmiger/todonow]]

and obviously the TW5 core

hopefully this is the info you need.

Well, the first thing you need to do is give more information. This is most
likely caused by either a plugin you are using or some customisations you
made to your wiki. Does it happen when you open your wiki? Or does it
happen when you do something specific? What plugins do you have installed?
Have you created any custom javascript widgets or macros in your wiki?

Hi, Andy —

I've encountered a similar problem myself. I can still see TiddlyDesktop
in my taskbar (in addition to the icon in the tray), but I can't "find" the
window anywhere on my desktop. What I've been doing is using Task Manager

I made a quick screencast to show what I mean:

[tw] Re: [TiddlyDesktop] TWC & TW5 Open at the Same Time Causing a Slowdown?

2016-01-02 Thread Scott Simmons
I don't know that it's necessarily the mix of classic and modern
TiddlyWikis doing it, but TiddlyDesktop is definitely slowing down for me
periodically if I leave it open a while and have several TWs open during a
session. A quick restart of TiddlyDesktop resolves the problem.

I typically notice the slowdown in increased save times, leaping from maybe
6 or 7 seconds to over half a minute and sometimes as long as two minutes
if I let TiddlyDesktop stay open a while longer without restarting it.

Re: [tw] Re: TiddlyDesktop creates unremovable file

2015-10-21 Thread Linus Johnsson
Dear Eric,

I did try deleting the directory but received the same error message (that
is, that the path is too long).

Following your suggestions, I have now tried to delete the file from the
command line, but nothing happens after responding with an "Y" to the "Are
you sure (Y/N)?" prompt. Even "del *.*" fails without any error message
whatsoever. Deleting other files poses no problem.

I eventually found a thread that suggested using robocopy:
http://superuser.com/questions/45697/how-to-delete-a-file-in-windows-with-a-too-long-filename
which seems to do the trick.

For me, at least, the problem is solved for now. But I'm more than a little
hesitant to attempt reinstalling TiddlyDesktop. What does this rogue file
do, anyway?

Best regards,
Linus

Have you tried using a wildcard filename from the command line to delete
the file?

Open a command shell, change to the "...\static" directory, and then enter
   del %22*.html
or perhaps
del ?22*.html (if the shell objects to the "%" in the filename)
or even
del *.html (if you don't care about any of the directory contents)

However, the plugin to import is called Untitled. When I press the button

However, when I look at $:/ControlPanel, I do not see Katex in Plugins (I
have even tried to import the plugin to the tiddly html homepage,
where the action (though unsaved) resulted in having Katex in the list of
Plugins in ControlPanel.
Moreover, when I click on the link (in the newly created tiddler
Unknown), I suddenly have Katex Demo instead of my html page opened by
nw.exe (the TiddlyDesktop application). And from here there is no way back,
unless I close Katex Demo and open my own html page again (but still
without working Katex in it).
Please do you have an idea what the step is that I am making wrong? Can't
it be due to the fact that I open html by nw.exe?

Thanks a lot again,

The idea of dragging links is probably very odd to most people, it was at

 without working Katex in it).
Please do you have an idea what the step is that I am making wrong? Can't
it be due to the fact that I open html by nw.exe?

 Thanks a lot again,

The idea of dragging links is probably very odd to most people, it was

I downloaded and extracted tiddlydesktop-win-0.0.3. So I run nw.exe and
then select and open my html file, which was originally the empty.html
template (that I took somewhere on the internet).

I will try the same and report back if I shall meet the same problems.

Best wishes, Tobias.

Hi Tobias and others,
thank you very much for your help and patience! I discovered the mistake
that I was making all the time (except from using MSIE, with which *it does
not work even now*, but never mind - Firefox works).
It was a wrong dragging technique. The correct dragging technique is: to
select the link with a mouse, press and hold Ctrl and then drag the link.
The link being dragged this way also looks specifically:

The issue is that the pathname you've given in the a element is taken to
be relative to a folder inside the TiddlyDesktop app. It would be more
useful if the path was taken relative to the location of the TW file. In
the meantime, you can use an absolute link:

a href=file://localhost/Users/me/mywikis/empty.html
class=tw-interwiki-linkmy link/a

I've created a couple of issues:

Hi!
I like Popeye too, but i never got so far to check the licence ;-)

the lightboxplugin also needs some/a lot of html inline, depending on
using the tiddlerbox or divbox macro. only imagebox macro is pretty
straightforward, as long as you make sure the image has a working
link. So, having another plugin that would make popeye or fancybox
work nicely with the TW would be wonderful!
I'm curious to know what you've done, would you reconsider publishing
a draft?

Hi mitchke,
What exactly is your desire ?

March 2010 I played a little bit with [1] Popeye V1.0, [2] FancyBox
and [3] Roundabout to get them working with TW. I think the problems I
faced, where similar to yours. Every plugin needs a different DOM /
HTML structure, to get the pics rendered.

I got them working together (at the same time [3]+[2] :), but it needs
some inline html and inline javascript ... So it's not very handy.
That's why I didn't publish anything.

I personally like Popeye most. But I don't like its GPL license. (May
be it's too complicated for me). I think tiddlySpace makes things
easyer here.

have fun!
