Ciao Ton *Let us not disagree where there is none.* 1 - The point was, for me, THE QUESTION was on PRINTING a Tiddler. I suggested it EASIEST via "Open In new window" 2 - In Firefox on Windows it behaves as expected. You open a new Tiddler via "Open in new window" and right click and get a Print option for it. Easy and to the point. Elegant prints come out without messing about in convoluted print directives. OTHER situations, like, apparently, under Mint, fess up on that and get complicated. My POINT to you was ONLY over that specific scenario. Does Mint Firefox right click enable print? [tw] Re: printing
Hi Josiah, I totally disagree with you. 1) My proposed solution is general. It works independent of browser and/or OS. You can adjust what you want to print. 2) The 'new window' print can only print *one* tiddler *without* title, subtitle and tags. You assume everybody wants it printed this way. But what to do if I like to have the tiddler title and/or subtitle printed? 3) Default TW only suppresses printing the tiddler controls (@media print { .tc-tiddler-controls { display: none; } }). That makes sense; the rest is up to you. Cheers, Ton -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. Re: [tw] Re: printing
Dear Josiah, Dear Ton, Thank you so much for your solutions. Both worked magnificently. I guess which one to use depends. On circumstances and purpose: To print one tiddler only from an unmodified TW one would go in via the info panel. To buld a new application one would do whatever one could to adjust it for ease of use (so CONTROL + P works beautifully). The way I regard TW is almost like a stemcell: it can devolop into almost anything: notebook, database, word processor, presentation, mathermatical machine, etc). Thank you again. [tw] Re: printing with teamtasks template?
I am using the TeamTasks template [www.getteamtasks.com] and I suspect that there might be something different about the CSS in this template that is not allowing me to print anymore than the first page of a tiddler. When I paste the CSS below into the StyleSheet tiddler, it does not change the print layout at all. When I add the CSS below to the StyleSheetPrint tiddler, it does have the desired effects. However, the bigger problem is that with or without any changes to the StyleSheet or StyleSheetPrint tiddlers, only the first page of a Tiddler is printed. TeamTasks takes advantage of TiddlyWiki's systemTheme mechanism for it's presentation. The complete theme, templates and CSS, can be found in the TeamTasksSkin tiddler. Any changes you wish to make should be made in here. You can still use transclusion techniques so if you add some CSS to the StyleSheet tiddler you can just add [[StyleSheet]] to the bottom of the stylesheet section in TeamTasksSkin. Again, I suspect it's something particular to the CSS for this particular Tiddlywiki template, TeamTasks. I am not knowledgeable enough of CSS to search through it and identify what might be causing the problem. I'm not sure what is causing your problem. If I have chance to work it out I'll let you know but in the meantime you will be able to add your CSS from below using the transclusion stuff explained above. Below is my custom StyleSheetPrint CSS as well as the CSS for the StyleSheetLayout tiddler from the particular template I am using. This is my modified CSS in StyleSheetPrint: /*{{{*/ @media print { #mainMenu, #sidebar, #messageArea, .toolbar, #backstageButton, #backstageArea {display: none ! important;} #displayArea {margin: 1em 1em 0em 1em;} /* Fixes a feature in Firefox 1.5.0.2 where print preview displays the noscript content */ noscript {display:none;}} /*}}}*/ /*{{{*/ @media print {#mainMenu {display: none ! important;}} @media print {#topMenu {display: none ! important;}} @media print {#sidebar {display: none ! important;}} @media print {#messageArea {display: none ! important;}} @media print {#toolbar {display: none ! important;}} @media print {.header {display: none ! important;}} @media print {.tiddler .subtitle {display: none ! important;}} @media print {#tiddler #toolbar {display; none ! important; }} @media print {.tiddler .tagging {display; none ! important; }} @media print {.tiddler .tagged {display; none ! important; }} @media print {#backstageArea {display; none ! important; }} @media print {#backstageButton {display; none ! important; }} /*}}}*/ This is the CSS for the StyleSheetLayout tiddler in the TeamTasks Template [www.getteamtasks.com]: That is the standard StyleSheetLayout that ships with any Tiddlywiki, it isn't specific to TeamTasks. [tw] Re: Printing Report
I am interested to know if there is a solution to the following problem. Say that I have a number of links in a tiddler. Is there a way that I could go to each of these links, and recursively follow the links in these tiddler also, copy the body of each tiddler, and make it into a linear document that will sit in one tiddler so that I can print it as a document that reads in logical progression. Said another way, I want to copy the body of each tiddler in a depth first search, and make it into a single document. http://www.TiddlyTools.com/#RelatedTiddlersPlugin peforms a recursive, depth-first traversal of tiddler links and generates a tree-view display of the result. Take a look at the plugin-defined function: config.macros.relatedTiddlers.getList(start,exclude,callback) where: 'start' is the title of the root tiddler for the traversal 'exclude' is an array of titles to skip (i.e. don't follow links FROM those tiddlers) 'callback' is an alternative function for getting a custom list of the links from a tiddler For your purposes, you won't need to use a custom callback, since you are interested in the normal tiddler links from each tiddler, which is already provided by the plugin as a default callback handler. Once you have retrieved the resulting list of related tiddlers, you can write some relatively simple script that outputs the desired format (e.g. embedding the content of each tiddler in the list). Something like this: script var start=story.findContainingTiddler(place).getAttribute('tiddler'); var list=config.macros.relatedTiddlers.getList(start); var out=''; for (var i=0; ilist.length; i++) out+='tiddler [['+list[i]+']]\n'; return out; /script Note: to embed javascript code within tiddler content, you need to install: http://www.TiddlyTools.com/#InlineJavascriptPlugin enjoy, -e Eric Shulman TiddlyTools / ELS Design Studios -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. I am going to e-mail this to the creator of MonkeyGTD also, but I wonder what you think of this. I was expecting it to just span pages like any other web page does. Thanks! Mike, Thanks so much for the reply. However, that did not work. I placed it both before and after the existing code. I saved the tiddly and re- opened it. No luck. Any other ideas? [tw] Re: Printing truncates when Using MonkeyGTD tiddlywiki
I haven't messed with MonkeyGTD in a while. . . but I think I remember the StyleSheet containing the media print and being part of the respective themes, you might find your solution digging through the themes and looking for @media print (following would be css rules for printing) If I get a little time tonight I will head over to the mGTD site and take a better look. Wish I would have remembered that yesterday . . . Good Luck, Mike On Jan 3, 3:16 pm, Rod rlfa...@yahoo.com wrote: Hi! I found a workaround, but it does not work exqactly as I desire. The workaround uses three columns, and they do print to succeeding pages when printing. This is am improvement over the truncation issue. The workaround fix was found here: http://twhelp.tiddlyspot.com/, then click the Formatting Tiddlers link, then click the TowColumns tab on the resulting page. That page tells you to modify the Stylesheet tiddler as shown below: - .twocolumns { display:block; -moz-column-count:2; -moz-column-gap:1em; -moz-column- width:50%;} - Then, surround your code / text on the tiddler to be displayed, as shown below: {{twocolumns{ here is much text in two columns}}} I substituted the MonkeyGTD code for the to-do tiddlers into the above and it worked. In MonkeyGTD, my tiddler contains code to display the to-do items grouped by category (Upcoming Ticklers, Next Actions, Waiting For Actions, Future Actions, etc.). The side affect that I do not like is that the todo items run together. In the default multi-column views of MonkeyGTD, using the Cols mechanism for creating columns, I can choose to display each category on separate columns. I prefer the latter as I can keep Upcoming Ticklers and Future Actions in the left column, Waiting For items in the center etc. a bit easier to use. So I found the 50% solution, and it will work, but I really would like to get the original MGTD tiddlers to print on mulitiple pages. Thanks! I have now loaded the tiddlers contains information from Iain's Notes on Industrial Archaeology into a clean copy of TW Notes. This eliminates changes made to improve the colour scheme, however the TW now appears in the print preview screen ot FF and prints. I then began my normal process of customisation. I changed the Default Tiddler and then edited the Site Title tiddler. This had the effect of bringing back the old problem. I reloaded the tiddler Site Tiddler from a clean backup of My Notes and this seems to have restored the problem. I tried this with my Iain's Notes on Industrial Archaeology but it didn't seem to fix the problem. Does it seem odd that changing the tiddler4 Site Title' should cause a printing problem? [tw] Re: Printing
So where I am at now is as follows. 1) I cannot print my TW 2) I have the original versions of No Braniner and My Notes copies of these printed ok 3) Therefore I conclude it must be a problem with either my colour scheme changes to the TW or a problem with plugins that I have installed that are not in My Notes. 4) I have tested a copy of Iain's Notes on Industrial Archaeology which is the basic standard modification of My Notes. It has three additional plugins - Firefox privileges, Image size and Tag Cloud. I tested these by disabling each one in the plugins menu in turn by ticking the disable box in the manage plugins menu, saving and reloading the TW. I also tried disabling all three at once. Still I am unable to print. 5) I conclude from this that the plugins are not an issue (if anyone disagrees with this conclusion please let me know) 6) Therefore my next task is to restore the colour schemes to Morris's and see what happens. I am determined to solve this and I am assuming that a logical approach will get there in the end. yours --~--~-~--~~~---~--~~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups TiddlyWiki group. [tw] Re: Printing Problems
You didn't say whether you are using TW Notes or TWT-Notes. In TW Notes the HistoryPlugin sets the TiddlyWiki to single page mode. So disabling HistoryPlugin will allow more than one tiddler to be displayed for printing. (This is not so clean as errors are generated with the plugin disabled however they do not print.) In TWT-Note it is the TiddlersBarPlugin that sets the TiddlyWiki to single page mode. So disabling TiddlersBarPlugin will allow more than one tiddler to be displayed for printing. What we need is a plugin that will print tiddlers by tag regardless of single mode or not. Morris On Apr 21, 8:40 am, iain i...@jcis.net.au wrote: I cannot print my tiddlers properly.
