[tips] Eastern Psych Assn. 2010 Meeting

2009-11-08 Thread DIANE FINLEY
The link for EPA is
http://www.easternpsychological.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=1.

The deadline is November 15.

The purpose of this email is to invite you to submit a paper, poster, or
symposium proposal for the March 4-7 2010 Eastern Psychological Association
meeting at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge. I am encouraging the
submission of teaching related papers, symposia/workshops and teaching activity
posters. (STP sponsors a contest for the best teaching poster.)

Yes, EPA is back in New York City, and it is likely to be an historic meeting
(see speakers below).

EPA remains a bargain. The Membership dues of $45 includes the meeting. There
are no other fees. Furthermore, the room rate at the Marriott is $199, not
including tax.

To pay dues got to: . Click on Members Only at the top of the left menu, and
then click on Renew Your Membership. After you have paid your dues by credit
card, again click on Members Only and then click on Member Proposals, to submit
your proposal.

Remember that only paid up members may submit proposals for the meeting. If you
are planning to submit a proposal, it is not a good idea to wait until the last
possible moment to pay as payments are not immediately credited to the data
base but may take up to 48 hours to process.

As in previous years, we will be holding events in conjunction with APA*€™s
Division of International Psychology, APA*€™s Division 27 (Society for
Community Action and Research), the Council of Undergraduate Psychology
Programs (CUPP), Council of Teachers of Undergraduate Psychology (CTUP), the
Society for Teaching of Psychology (STP), and Psi Chi (National Honor Society
for Psychology), and Psi Beta (Psychology Honor Society for Community Colleges).

At the 2010 meeting, there will be invited addresses by:

Linda Bartoshuk - University of Florida

William M. Baum - University of California, Davis

Ray DiGiuseppe - St. John's University

Arnold Glass *€“ Rutgers University

James Herbert - Drexel University

2009-11-08 Thread Dr. Bob Wildblood
Diane,

I have moved back to the east coast and have just renewed my membership (I
know, very late), but when it asked for my affiliation, my new school (Germanna
CC) isn't on the list, and although there are Virginia colleges on the list, I
don't think there are any of the VCCS schools listed. While I was in Indiana,
my affiliation (Indiana University Kokomo) was listed. Is there a reason that
VCCS schools are not listed other than, perhaps, that there are no members of
EPA and that they all are in Southeastern?

Just wondering. The speakers for the March convention look very good.

Hi Diane,

If you have room on your panel, I would be interested in participating (so long
as my grad asst can be a co-presenter). I would talk about the use of
writing to learn journaling assignments (as opposed to high-stakes writing
to earn assignments) in large introductory psychology courses. Thanks, Jeff

2009-09-18 Thread DIANE FINLEY
Thanks to everyone who volunteered to serve on the EPA Teaching
Activities panel. The panel is now full. However, please consider
submitting a teaching related program. If you have a good idea, you may
be able to find some colleagues (perhaps on the listserv!) who would
like to put together a program.

The online submission system will open soon at
http://www.easternpsychological.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=1. Please
note you must be a member to submit. However, the membership fee covers
conference registration.

Looking forward to seeing lots of teaching program in NYC in March!

[tips] Eastern Psych Assn. 2010 Meeting

2009-09-09 Thread DIANE FINLEY
Call for Programs EPA Convention 2010

Hope everyone’s school year is off to a good start. It may seem early but
before you know it, the deadline for submission of programs for EPA 2010 will
be here. As chair of the teaching programs, I am encouraging you to submit
programs related to teaching.

The convention is scheduled for March 4-7, 2010 in New York City. The
electronic submission system will be available at
http://www.easternpsychological.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=1 .
As you plan for your submission, here are a few reminders and tips:

1) The earlier you submit the better. Many people wait until the last minute
and sometimes the computerized submission system can get overwhelmed.
Submitting early can avoid these technical glitches.

2) All research submitted must be completed and submissions must include the
data and results. No “in progress” studies will be considered.

3) Please be sure to submit accurate and up-to-date email addresses. The
Division will contact you about the status via email. An incorrect or inactive
account means you cannot be reached.

4) Consider allowing us to move your individual submission to the poster
session. D47 gets limited hours and we cannot accept all of the worthwhile
submissions. This flexibility allows us to accept more.

5) Please note you must be a member of EPA to submit. (Membership includes
convention registration). Please join (or renew) now to facilitate submission
later on.

6) Please be aware that if you are accepted, it is a commitment to attend and
present. Failing to appear (without contacting the Program Chair about an
extenuating circumstance) will result in a ban for the next year for
submissions.

7) Please be aware that we schedule programs through the last hour of the
Convention so if you are submitting, please plan to stay for the whole
conference.

If you have questions, please email me at dfin...@pgcc.edu. Please put EPA
Submission in the subject line so the email will go through our spam filters.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing your submission!
