Re: [TMIC] Shellfish vs TM
Three times since developing TM he has eaten shellfish, and after each time, he totally lost all strength in his legs..nearly to the original point of TM paralysis. Very Interesting!!! What sort of Shellfish did he consume??? F

Re: [TMIC] Lyrica (Tequila)
Well, te he ... I've heard very very unofficially that tequila is a banned substance in Canada :):):) just kidding. Maybe the Scots in charge overthere would rather everybody drink a good single malt instead. Re: [TMIC] Shellfish vs TM
Indeed, me also suspects an allergic reaction to (certain types of) shell fish. Here in Elvisland, me missus, the one with MS, she eats anything she wants, anytime, anywhere, anyhow.. including crabs' legs, lobster, octopus, oysters, eel, soft shell crabs, crawfish, and hoo-noes what other creepy crawly weird stuff. And so far ... no nada nuthin nowheres aftereffects or adverse reactions of any kind. I guess it all has to do with each individual and allergies within. Regards from Bobberino, in balmy Elvisland; some winter, indeed. From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: tmic-list@eskimo.com Sent: Thursday, January 12, 2006 9:52 PM Subject: [TMIC] Shellfish vs TM Perhaps he has acquired an allergic reaction to that type of shellfish, which is not uncommon. Terry eats shellfish frequently without any adverse reactions, particularly if he kills the parasites with tequila Sandy
[TMIC] Discovery may aid autoimmune treatment
Discovery may aid autoimmune treatment ANN ARBOR, Mich., -- University of Michigan scientists say a new discovery could help scientists understand what causes autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis. In a study published online in Nature, researchers from the university's medical school found that the protein cryopyrin responds to invading bacteria by triggering the activation of a powerful inflammatory molecule called IL-1beta, which signals the immune system to attack pathogens and induces fever to pro- tect the body against infection. Found in the fluid inside cells, cryopyrin is a member of the NOD-LRR family of pro- teins, which protect cells against microbial infection. Defective cryopyrin is associated with increased suscept- ibility to infection. Small mutations in CIAS1 --the human gene for cryopyrin-- are known to cause three rare auto- inflammatory diseases: familial cold autoinflammatory syn- drome, Muckle-Wells syndrome and neonatal-onset multiple- system inflammatory disease. The scientists found that activated cryopyrin triggers a enzyme called caspase-1, which splits the immature form of IL-1beta to produce the active form of the molecule. Once IL-1beta is activated, it can be secreted out of the cell where it binds to the IL-1beta receptor on other cells to trigger an immune response.
[TMIC] Re: tmic-digest Digest V2006 #15
About the shellfish and the recurrent TM perhaps there is a correlation between an allergy to the shellfish (which is an auto-immune response) and the flare up of the symptoms of TM (an auto-immune disease). I have severe allergies which really mess with my TM symptoms!
