[TMIC] Kate's question

2006-05-04 Thread AnnDillon

Kate.. Was hoping someone would reply to you since I have the same
questions but no answers. It does make sense that the more you use your
legs the better off you would be. Hopefully someone who knows the answers
to your questions will reply.

Is there any documentation on TM - specifically on the pain aspect and
physiotherapy - that I could print out to give them? (Also; is this
a valid point; in that the muscle wastage will prevent me from walking if I
don't overcome the pain and keep going before it gets too severe?
Apparently I have quite a bit of muscle wastage on my legs already, and whilst
doing all the exercises helps a bit; the physio thinks I need to keep trying to
walk, in spite of the pain, if possible). I will print out the info
files that are on this site, but if there is anything specifically relating to
the rehabilitation and physiotherapy aspects, that would be very
helpful! I don't think the medical profession here (esp. those
in public health system), really knows what to do with this situation; and each
different (public health) physiotherapist that gets assigned to me seems to have
totally different ideas, method and approach. All have said that they've
never treated anyone with TM before, and don't

I've done the exercising, rehab and I still can only walk so far before muscle fatigue strikes my legs and I have to sit for a minute or so to recoup and then I can go again.. Kate, walk as much as you can. If you don't:

Your muscles will indeed atrophy,

You will lose the calcium in your leg bones

Alton, who should have done this himself

[TMIC] Mr. Graves info?

2006-05-04 Thread ACAROE
Can anyone give me an address to contact this Mr. Graves that you are all talking about. I would like to know what the Miami project is. I stay in southern Florida for the winter and am thinking of going to the Cleveland Clinic which is near Miami. Maybe they can tell me what I have. Of course so far I have no diagnosis. First thought it was Guilliane-Barre Syndrome, then TM, but my neurologist says it was a spinal cord stroke and is quite sure about it.
In any case I have most of the symptons that most of you have but fortunately not alot of pain. Some nerve pain that is like sciatic pain but only in the evening.
Also, the more I lie around the worse I feel. If I spend more time walking (with a walker of course and using mostly hands) then I dont get as stiff and ill feeling. I cant stand on my own yet but am working on it and thats because the muscles in my butt and my hamstrings are not working,
 Thanks, Rosalie

I sent an e-mail to the Montel Williams Show a few years ago, but never got a response. Perhaps if we all send an e-mail, he will grease the "squeaky wheel"!
