Yes. I can't take more than 10mg and was totally stupid at 20mg. However, I
also find that pain makes me stupid since I can't concentrate on anything else.
What a vicious cycle we're in!

I had similar confusion with what I heard from various medical people.
Dec 2003 my neuro rx'd baclofen for spasticity and the next day I had
physical and occupational therapy. Both therapists told me I didn't have
spasticity and wanted permission to talk with my neuro. So there I was
in my TM stupor questioning who knew best. I started on the baclofen
and have never discontinued it. My Neuro knew best.
I am too flexible (rubbery) if I take over 10mg so he moved me to every
six hours and that works for me.
I couldn't have discribed it at well as Merieke's post, however, it's
exactly how both the spasms and spasticity feel to me.

It is the opposite with me I have been on baclofin for approximately 5

zanaflex; I can't walk or function without them. It took approximately five
changes in strengh before my neuro was pleased with the disage. The only
side effects I now experience is dry mouth; The long term is that you must
consult your neuro before stopping taken it; Once on it it is very dangerous
to stop taken it;

I take Tizanidine (zaniflex) every night - I think I would have big
trouble sleeping if I didn't - I get jimmy legs. Taking it during the
day as prescribed by my neuro is a problem because it makes me sleepy.
In the morning I sometimes have dry mouth so bad, the inside of my mouth
sticks to my teeth - tough talking like that!

When I first came home from hospital I was on 80 mg of Baclofen and lots of
Zanaflex (can't remember exactly) and with the Gabapentin at about 3600 mg I
was a real zombie. It took a few years to get down to where I am now. I
take 40 mg Baclofen per day (10mg every 5 hours) and then one 4mg tab of
Zanaflex at bedtime. Have to be careful with the Zanaflex - liver enzyme
problems.

[TMIC] Jude was looking good today!

2008-04-08 Thread pjv1234
I visited Jude this afternoon (Tuesday) and had a surprise - she wasn't in her
room. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise as soon as her nurse said she was
at their salon getting her hair cut. She said I could wait for Jude since she
was due back to her room for her antibiotic regimine, but I was eager to see
her be up and about and went on the search down the halway.
I found Jude in a recreation room visiting with her friend who has a chair
identical to hers. We stayed there for just a few minutes, then went back to
her room.
Jude's aid came in and put her in bed using a lift - something I haven't
witnessed with anyone (including myself). I'm stuck sitting here trying to say
how much I hate TM after witnessing what it has done to some of you.
Nothing has changed in Jude's prognosis - I think this is her second week on
the antibiotics fighting MRSA. I did witness answers to our prayers regarding
the care she is receiving at the nursing home.
The aid that cared for Jude today was super. She told Jude that she went to
Administration and asked if she could be Jude's nurse, it was time to put
things behind them. They hugged, teared up and I watched this lady give the
kind, carrying, and respectful treatment that we all want to receive. She was
likely with us about twenty minutes while she transferred Jude. After the aid
left I asked Jude what the reunion was about - was she one of the nurses that
Jude had trouble with? She was! Jude said she had been a good aid in the past
and she wasn't just putting on a show for me. She said this lady turned ugly
toward her and made her night miserable (the night we heard about a few weeks
ago.) Jude had no fear of having her as her aid today and complimented her on
how comfortable she made the transfer. These people must all realize how
fragile Jude's life is and know she wasn't making up her additional weakness
from the MRSA.
By-the-way she will hopefully have her laptop hooked up tonight. So send her a
post.
It was a pleasant visit, although, sobering to know that antibiotic is truly
her lifeline at this time. (I taught a Sunday School class once titled Jesus is
my LSD -
Life Saving Device.) The kids loved it!
