So young. I was 58. I was dx'd with definitive ATM and 'possible' MS. My neuro said that statistically, the later in life you develop neurological disease, the lower your chances of developing full blown MS. I was never sure if he was trying to raise my morale or if he did have those statistics. Whatever the reason, it helped a lot with the initial shock of having to live life differently. I was 55, just retired from work and had just made the woman's tennis team. In the middle of the night. I too thought it was a pinched nerve. TM possible MS but I still have so much to be thankful for and each day is a gift. I can sit and hold my new grandson, hug my four grown kids and travel. Now I'm 62... a true baby boomer!!! My son is flying in from Phoenix tonight to ask his girlfriend for her hand in marriage!! He's going to surprise her at the top terrace of the Kennedy Center. He's 33 and she's 30 I am so excited.. When I went in to the ER early in the morning, Janet, they just left me laying as the paralysis moved it's way up my body and just shrugged their shoulders saying, Oh, you just worked too hard and pinched a nerve. Later in the afternoon my daughter asked me if I had to go to the bathroom and I told her I couldn't tell. She was the one that asked them to please cath me since I hadn't gone all day. [TMIC] cataracts and steroids
Hi, I had 2 courses of high dose steroids;one at onset of tm,and one a couple of years later when I had a flare-up. I was told in 2006 that I had a beginning cataract;on my exam this year,it is the same.I will be 62 on 6/17. Cheryl in cloudy Easthampton,Mass.

Took 10 minutes to become paralyzed from the waist down (T12) Strictly speaking, neither of us have TM. Myelitis is an inflammation of the myelin; I don't believe any infection can have such a sudden onset. Moreover, my spinal fluid was clear of white blood cells that would have been marshaled to fight an inflammation. I, perhaps we, had an infarction of a branch artery within the cord. Alton
