Hi all,

I am switching to amitryteline (sp?) from neurontin.  I stopped the neurontin
and started all at once (doctor's rec) and went nuts...this is when one can
experience suicidal thoughts (really).  I decided to wane the dose of neurontin
(was on 1800 and now am taking half that for the week) and perhaps even a
nother smaller dose next week.  Amitryptilene is an older antidepressant that
treats pain, especially in the neck I was told.  I feel a bit like a yo-yo and
sorry for me staff!  In any case the foggy feeling is lessening already.

I also hate TM--makes me long for my previous normal physicala and mental
state.  I wake up every morning and wait for the pain to ensue.  But I can
function which I am very grateful for.

Hey Jill everyone,

My doctor told me to switch neurontin to Lyrica cold-turkey, because they
where in the same family.  I had the worst headache for 5 days and then I was
fine.  So I don't recommend doing like that, but it's faster.
Why I like Lyrica for me, is that I only need to take it twice a day instead
of 3 times a day.  When I was on neurontin in the middle of the day, I would
start to feel pain and then knew I had forgotten my second dose of neurontin.
The neurontin would make me a little foggy and that might have been why I
would forget the second dose.

I wished we all could do well on Lyrica,

Jil,
That much neurontin also exhausted me, but I took fewer naps as time went
on.. It never eliminated TM pain, however, it helped some. My biggest
complaint about Neurontin is the time it took to work and how fast it wore
off.  My Neuro said that was a common complaint  and suggested I try
Lyrica.   I researched Lyrica for a year before letting my him write a
prescription.  My biggest fear was his insistence that I could switch from
neurontin to Lyrica overnight.   I finally made the switch exactly that way -
overnight -  with no side effects.  I didn't swell up like a toad nor did I
turn into one.  Lyrica works within fifteen minutes of taking the pill and
lasts much longer.  I took 75mg every 12 hours for a year, then upped to 75mg
every 8 hours for about 9 months.  I then asked for an increase to 100mg
every 8 hours and have been on this dosage for over a year.
I understand being afraid of Lyrica, because I was petrified of it myself.
Now I have to share the benefits I received.  It works for some, but not for
others.

Hi Gang ! ,

Has anyone been keeping count of the number of different spelling of that drug,
you now the one in the subject line??

I count at least half a dozen.

I hate it when you can't even know the spelling of one of your meds. You need
to be spending more time reading your medicine bottles.

You think I'm going to bail you out by spelling that mother of a word. H*ll no
!! I'm really in a bad mood, because of all my allergies being fired up by
Spring time.

Love you all

I was on Amitriptyline for one week when I was being medicated. I was switched
to Nortriptyline and still take 50 mg in the morning and 100 mg at bed.

I take Phenobarbital 15 mg in AM and 45 mg at bed instead of Neurontin, and
Dextromethorphan twice a day, SATIVEX twice a day, and VIT D.

Hope that helps

I too was put on that for a short while back in the 70's for depression.
I too felt 'right out of it' or 'stoned'.
I couldn't take it then and guess I will just stick with the Neurontin.

2-300? I doubt it...2-3000 would be more like it. Having said that, it
would be awesome for people with mobitilty problems, but I also see it
as another reason for people (without issues) to not walk and loose
another form of exercise. I'm always asked why I don't use a power
chair...umm...cuz my arms are fine and a power chair would be another
reason not to get that vital exercise I'm getting now by pushing

I cath 5 times a day. every 4 hours during the day, and I can stretch
it to 6 at night. I'm still constantly incontinent, but going more
often has become a quality of life issue. My bladder constantly
over-reacts no matter what I do..I'd have to do it every 2 hours to
stay dry. The botox will take care of that...I hope
