RE [TMIC] OT: REQUEST
i agree Akua,Dalton, you are the only people on the planet that will put up with my pain and frustrations! for instance, had a spat with my family Dr the other day. The only think that has given me any shade of relief from the piercing pain in my side has been hydrocodone with atavan. the neuronton hasn't helped there and the baclofin hasn't helped there and the lyrica hasn't either. He told me that if i didn't slow down with the hydrocodone that this time next year i would be addicted to it. so with my fashionable humor i politely asked him what happened with the past 2.5 years that i have been taking it? all i wanted hm to do was to continue the status quoe. i was getting 60 pills of hydrocodone about every 22 days that's an average of @ 3 a day sometimes less. they are the 5/500's my last family Dr said i wasn't taking a dosage that would hurt me. so in my analogy and metaphorically speakingDr's kill me! theres a pain clinic not far from here. A man i worked with goes there for back pain. he is taking the same things i take other than the neuronton and baclofin,so whats the point? i asked the Dr if he was just getting tired of fooling with me. I almost lost it with him. almost allowed the baclofin do all the talking! for lack of a better way of putting it,,i stay pissed off a lot. but i would rather be aggravated that panfully jerking TM love it or hate it it is the same result,,misery, pity, and pain. I thank God for this list! --- On Thu, 12/30/10, Dalton Garis malugss...@gmail.com wrote: From: Dalton Garis malugss...@gmail.com Subject: Re: [TMIC] OT: REQUEST To: Akua a...@artfarm.com, tmic-list@eskimo.com Date: Thursday, December 30, 2010, 11:25 PM Please, friends; For some of us this is the only refuge wherein we can deal honestly with our frustrations, our isolation and our sense of hopelessness from what has taken over our bodies. Those who before, we had considered friends and family, have long since taken their leave of us. We must under all circumstances, try to support one another. No one other than our own selves can say what our mental and emotional progress is supposed to be through this great life trial. All things will pass away and good deeds alone will remain. To the truth of this, every divinely revealed Book and Testament has declared. Certainly, when we leave this life of pain and disappointments, we will be asked of our doings, and our capacity to sustain each other during times of difficulty and to maintain our relationships regardless of hardships, will place us in safety. Re: RE [TMIC] OT: REQUEST
John, If you've been taking hydrocodone for two years, you probably are addicted (What ever that means) to it. I would recommend going to a real pain clinic. Find a pain clinic connected to a large teaching hospital- a hospital that is intimately connected to a medical school. The first clue that you are in the right place will be that the doctor will have, or will line up, a TEAM consisting of physiotherapist, occupational therapist, psychologist, maybe a social worker and the doctor and nurse. Opiods don't work very well with Central Neuropathic Pain. The combination than works for most of us is : Old fashoned anti-depressants like Nortriptyline, anti epileptic medication like phenobarbitol ( much fewer side effects than neurontin, and less expensive), and Dextromethorphan. Dextromethorphan is used for stopping a cough, just like hydrocondone, but it is the same as morphine but right handed. Woh, Woh, stop right there. So it's the same as morphine which is at least TEN times as strong as hydrocodone, but is nonaddictive. How does that work?? Look at your hands, count the bones. You will realize that, if you are normal, you have the same number of bones in each hand, but your hands are different- you have a right and left hand. Morphine is left handed, and so works well at stopping some sorts of pain. Dextromethorphan is better at stopping other types of pain. You take different doses of Dextromethorphan than Morphine. The maximum dose is 60 mg. twice a day, if you take more you may start having hallucinations. You may not know if I'm telling you the truth. I am not sell medication, nor am I offering salvation through prescription pills. I used to be a family doctor (M.D.,C.M.)trained at one of the best medical schools in the world ( Not Caribbean, but Canadian), have had T.M. for ten and a half years. I have looked for and found some of the best specialists who care for me. I also read the appropriate medical journals to learn of new techniques before they are even prescribed- I try to make every physician appointment a teaching event for both myself and the doctor. Good Luck on your journey. If I can help, email me. Frank

Frank I nkow that your the man when it comes to good suggestions anmd things to practice. I jst want to know now should i start lessing the dose of the hydrocodone to get off of it or wait fr someone at a pain clinic to trade for it? it just seamed odd to me,taking only hydrocodone 5's,small dosage, that i would be in any addictrion trouble. taking it twice a day with atavan sure helped the pain in my side but perhaps something else would too. living on 26 dollars a day makes prospecting kind of tough. --- On Fri, 12/31/10, fr...@franksheldon.com fr...@franksheldon.com wrote: From: fr...@franksheldon.com fr...@franksheldon.com Subject: Re: RE [TMIC] OT: REQUEST To: john snodgrass jcs...@yahoo.com Cc: tmic-list@eskimo.com Date: Friday, December 31, 2010, 11:58 AM John, If you've been taking hydrocodone for two years, you probably are addicted (What ever that means) to it. Todd I did the same thing about 6 weeks after I got home from the hospital. I was at the computer paying some bills. When I finished, I got up to go to the bathroom and completely forgot that I couldn’t walk. Needless to say, I landed flat on my face. Fortunately, I didn’t hurt myself, but I thought okay how do I get up since my hubby was outside cutting the grass. I was lucky that my P.T. therapist showed me what to do in case I would fall. As I was going down all I could think was oh s__t! Well, what she showed me worked. I have gone down at least 2 more times, but I have been lucky that all I bruised was my self esteem. We all must remember to be very careful. I hope you didn’t hurt yourself.
