Re: [TMIC] Weird feelings around eyes

Frank and all
It's been 3 years now from onset (5/32/03) and I have not had any new
events so the tm diagnosis still stands. My face involvement began in the
hospital within the first week of onset. The right side of my face, nose,
lips and mouth were numb and tingling. When I sucked in with my lips my
mouth felt like I had just brushed with a super minty toothpaste even if I
hadn't brushed. It stayed like that for months. Now my face is my indicator
that I have over extended myself and need to rest.

I know it is weird, but my neuro says it is another unexplained symptom of
tm. He is a good friend of one of the doctors at the tm center at JH and an
excellent neuro, so I trust him. He follows the same protocol as the center
and tries the same drug therapies.

But, then again, I have always been a WEIRD one. So...

I have had facial involvement from tm. It intensifies when I am
tired/fatigued/too hot. It really affects my nose, lips, chin and cheeks.
I have the eye muscles twitches, too.

I have never read that TM can affect the facial nerves.

the facial nerves do not come off the spinal cord.

It sounds like MS to me. You may just have to wait for an abnormal MRI.

 Good Luck

[TMIC] Weird facial feelings

2006-05-18 Thread Debbie Martin
That is so interesting. I also burn my mouth frequently, but don't realize
it when it is happening. Were your arms affected to? Sometimes mine drive me
nuts. My hands always have little spasms going on and they can really hurt
at times. My face isn't painful, just extremely irritating when the itching
starts. Then there is the tickle that runs along side my nose that seems to
stay. And when my nose starts itching it is rather embarrasing. I just have
to keep rubbing it. Ahhh...tm can be quite humorous. Walk like a drunk and
scratch like and addict...what a sight!

 Debbie,
I also have facial involvement and so do many others. The face nerves that
are involved for me are at C2. It is my right side and after 8 years, when
I
breath in through my mouth it still feels warm and without any temp
feeling.
I also at times burn the inside of my mouth because I can't tell the
temperature. My very first symptom was a burning on the inside of my right
nasal passage, almost like I had gone swimming and had water in my nose,
yet
much more intense. At the first symposium in 1999, a gentleman spoke about
how his sneezes start and then stop when it hits the numb area. I was very
happy to hear that others had the same symptoms.

Re: [TMIC] OK, another *graphic * question and another smile

2006-05-05 Thread Debbie Martin

I just have to add that this post did make me giggle, but
fortunately the fart did not escape! I, too, have had the same issue. I do think
it has somethingto with a lack of sphincter control. I sure have had my
share of little pops when I really don't want them to happen. So, I guess I am
not much help with a solution, but I can offer much empathy!

OK, maybe not so graphic and I am sure will make ya giggle or
smile BUT I have this issue. I know we all have poop and pee issues and I have
learned to deal with them. But I am also farting alot! I bend over, I fart. I
lean , I fart. It's not the gassy smelly ones, but just noise, but it still
can be loud sometimes and its damn embarrassing! So my question is, is there
anything I can do? I am going away in June with friends and would rather not
be farting around them...I'd be mortified!Krissy ZoddaTri

Re: [TMIC] Flu shot anyone?

2005-11-09 Thread Debbie Martin

I did not have a problem with the flu shot last year. My
neurologist feels that there is a greater likely hood of getting much sicker
with the flu. So, I took the shot and did just fine. I will get another this
year.

I want to know who is getting the flu shot? I
have mixed feelings about this. Last year I was just out of the hospital and
steroided to the max and was told I did'nt need to take it. I am a walking
wounded, back at work as a hospice nurse now. I am afraid not to get for fear
of the fluand afraid of my immune system going nuts either way.
Not been dx'd with MS but that is still looming out there as a possibility any
input is appreciated. Also, does anyone have "sinking" spells, all at once it
just feels as though all energy has drained not sleepy just wiped out? today I
had this happen and my feet were tingling and legs felt terribly waek almost
trembly! Am I weird or what?
