Wow Robert,

That is quite a list isn't it?
On another note. I like the way you sign
yourself as TM Class of 1994. I guess that makes me TM Class of
2006.

DOCTOR TOLD ME I HAVE CATARACTS PRETTY BAD IN ONE EYE. HE SAID THAT
  STEROIDS CAN CAUSE THESE.

SINCE I HAVE READ ON HERE THAT SOME ARE TAKING STEROIDS, YOU MIGHT LQQK
INTO THESE SIDE EFFECTS. I KNOW YOU MIGHT HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO TAKE
  THEM, BUT FYI.

I have the same question: is the increase pressure part of my active
disease cycle? It makes sense, but I did not realize that the
increased pressure could bother my vision after a while. My Dr. keeps
asking me "how's your vision"...Bev

My last tap showed increased pressure. My
neuro called it Pseudo Tumor Cerebri and said, "Well now we have something
else to add to your list of rare neurological disorders." I said, " I am
not looking to expand the list."
He loves the diagnosis part of his
job. I try to prevent him from using those skills any more than he
  has to.

   But it can evidently cause
blindness and so I have to have my eyes checked for damage from the
increased pressure on the retina. It can also cause headaches but I
cant say that thats my case. I have migraines that come and go but they
were here before the TM or the PTC.

I am wondering now if an increase in
pressure is part of the active disease cycle and if its common to TM or
MSers when a tap is done during an attack?
  Sandy

DARE I GO THERE? ME THINKS NOT. BUT FRANK DOES INTIMATE ONE SALIENT
POINT, AND THAT IS TO GET TO KNOW YOURSELF, PARTICULARLY YOUR BODY IN IT'S
CURRENT CONDITION, VERY, VERY, WELL SO YOU CAN MONITOR WHAT IS GOING ON
WITH IT. PARTICULARLY, AS WE AGE, WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT IS NATURAL WITH
AGING AND OTHER UNRELATED ISSUES, AND WHAT IS PROMPTED BY OUR RESIDUAL
EFFECTS OF TM OR OUR MEDICATIONS... EXAMPLES:

ACID REFLUX YOU CANNOT FEEL DUE TO PARALYSIS
HEART PAIN FOR SAME REASON
LEG CRAMPS DUE TO BLOOD VESSEL BLOCKAGE, PARTLY DUE TO TM AND THEN AGING
BONE DETERMINATION
VISION PROBLEMS
BACK PAIN
MEMORY PROBLEMS AND CONCENTRATION
COLITIS - POLIPS - DIVERTICULOSIS[ITIS]

DO NOT ASSUME YOUR SYMPTOMS ARE DIRECTLY RELATED TO TM, DEVICS, MS ETC.
YOU AND YOUR DOCTOR SHOULD RULE OUT OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSES BEFORE SETTLING
ON THE FACT IT IS TM RELATED.

Re: [TMIC] Vision

2006-02-02 Thread pjv1234
I will always remember the weekend I realized I couldn't read with my 44 year
old eyes. I couldn't see anything close up. It had nothing to do with the TM
that hit me at 53. To my horror my first glasses were bifocals a true sign of
old age!
I had my eyes tested since TM and there was no change in my RX. I was happy to
hear that the TM and meds hadn't caused any damage to my eyes.
You're right Bill, we need regular check ups, but it's so easy to put them off.

Grace can your vision be corrected with glasses or is that too simple?
 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:
 Good morning folks,

Grace, I so hope your vision does improve after finishing the IV Solumedrol.
Not to discourage you but my eyesight did just the opposite. Let me say I
really have no idea what caused it but I can't help but wonder if the
steroids or other medication caused mine to deteriorate.

I have worn glasses most of my life and have always tried to have an eye exam
ever couple of years if there were no problems. Because of the TM I had not
has one for 3 years and I'm sure the only reason I thought to go now was my
eyesight had gotten so bad I could hardly see to drive. I could not see TV
very well from across the room. When I had the exam a month ago, my eyesight
was 20/80. The legal limit to drive in GA is 20/80. Boy, what a difference
 new glasses has made.

I did not write this to discourage you, I wrote it to encourage you to have
your eyes checked on a regular basis. Maybe if I had gotten mine checked
sooner they would not be this bad.

Also hello to everyone. I still don't post alot because all of you have much
more wisdom that I do about TM. But I read the posts everyday and more
important than that, my wife reads them everyday. I think reading them has
helped her to understand TM more and therefore she understand what is
happening with me when I tell her some new symptom has popped up. Thanks to
 all of you.

Re: [TMIC] Vision correction.

2006-02-02 Thread Grace
My glasses (Bifocals) don't help. With Devic's, often patients go
completely blind in at least one eye, with diminished vision in the other,
if not total blindness in that eye also. Some patients do regain a bit of
their vision, though, so I am going to continue to hope for the best.

My son is moving home to stay with me until I move in april. Bless his
heart. I'm starting to have a really difficult time getting around and
with my sight so messed up, I'm fearful of being alone. I hate this
disease. :-(
