Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Volume readout in dB?
Every step in the volume range is 0.5dB. So if maximum level (volume 100) is 0dB, and you set the volume (for example) at 80, output level is -10dB. I'm sure we can create a patch for this which can be installed through the Patch Installer applet, if I interpret the MusicInfoSCR code correctly it calculates the dB value with the formula: -abs(($vol / 2) - 50) Is it the same for the Touch/Radio or should it be calculated some other way ? jstraw;533683 Wrote: Is this a graphic I can replace on my own? I'm capable of doing the imaging. Yes, you just need to create an image that contains all the meter positions as those I linked in my previous post. There are two ways to install it: 1. Login with ssh and replace the following file: /usr/share/jive/applets/WQVGAsmallSkin/images/UNOFFICIAL/VUMeter/vu_analog_25seq_b.png Or 2. Create a zip file with the file in the following structure and install it through the third party Patch Installer applet which is in my testing repository: /share/jive/applets/WQVGAsmallSkin/images/UNOFFICIAL/VUMeter/vu_analog_25seq_b.png To be able to install it with the Patch Installer applet someone will need to create a repository xml file entry for it, but if you just provide the zip file we can arrange that. The disadvantage with installing it manually is that you will have to repeat the operation after each firmware upgrade, with the Patch Installer all installed patches can be configured to automatically be re-applied after a firmware upgrade. If you create a new visualizer image and decide to install it manually, we all appreciate if you at least post the image here so other users also can use it too. -- erland Erland Isaksson 'My homepage' (http://erland.isaksson.info) (Install my plugins through Extension Downloader) (Developer of 'TrackStat, SQLPlayList, DynamicPlayList, Custom Browse, Custom Scan, Custom Skip, Multi Library, Title Switcher and Database Query plugins' (http://wiki.erland.isaksson.info/index.php/Category:SlimServer)) erland's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3124 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77117 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

I think the Lavry is ever so subtly better, but it is in the territory where I have to really work at it to notice. So, in that sense, the analog output of the Touch is definitively superior to the SB3. This seems reasonable to me - I've always found/felt the Lavry to be quite transport-insensitive...OTH it always sounds like the Lavry. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch Good Practises
an update: somehow or other (and possibly loading a n applet and subsequent reboot) tinySC had got itself confused. ejecting and remounting USB drive didn't help. Eventually the Touch rebooted and after the subsequent USB remount started to scan - finding 53,927 files and started to scan them (estimated time 2and a half hours). I then put on the radio (triode's iplayer applet) and tim eleft for scan started to increase! Similarly playing some tracks, from the part scanned library worked (with 5s delay and one hiccup after 2/3s play). Scan time left started increasing again. Switching to my normal server and scan appeared to be continuing (file count increased) but time left was frozen at 596523:14:07 (had previously been hours/minutes). So, unsurprisingly, any extra tasks will increase time to complete a scan. [SlimDevices: Touch] How to check the progress of a scan of the USB drive?
Got my SB Touch today (my thanks Logitech) and very nice it looks too. At the moment, I believe it's scanning the attached USB drive (which will be used as it's music source). I've got roughly 1100 CDs cut onto the HD and was wondering how I check progress of the scan whilst it's running? Any thoughts? I have read elsewhere that it can take roughly 5 times longer than it would on a PC. Last time I did a scan on my PC, it took roughly 45 mins, so should I be expecting a scan to take 3 hours? me either! :) all smilies firmly in place.. And your right, if you can directly switch between sources it's alway better. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Display info character size
JohnSwenson;532972 Wrote: In addition to the no artwork mode there are two sizes, referred to as small/large, or touch/remote or 3/10. The small size is used when you touch the screen, it has smaller text and buttons. The larger size is used when you use the IR remote, it has larger text and no buttons. The 3/10 means 3ft or 10ft, the distance that mode was designed for. Thus if your Touch is much greater than 10ft away even the larger size may be too small. Its a little bit smaller than the largest font on the SB3. In my case the rack is about 15ft away and the largest SB3 font is just big enough, but the 10 Touch font is just a little too small for comfort. If you are in this situation some form of controller with a local screen might be best. I'm going to use second Touch for that! John S. I've been pleasantly surprised at how readable the text is from a distance. (Testing methodology: I SSHed to my Touch and tried 'mount' commands for 'smbfs' and 'nfs'. The 'smbfs' command fails immediately, even for a valid Samba-ized UNC path; the 'nfs' command returns an RPC connection refused error, suggesting that it would mount an appropriately configured NFS drive.)
