Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Further Dim Display on 'When Off' Screensaver

2011-03-18 Thread 505

Just go a Squeezebox Touch, and wanting this too. I've now achieved this
by hacking the code a bit, but it's not the most elegant solution.
Trying to write an applet to do this, once I find out how to properly
code an applet.

I you need this now, connect via SSH to your Touch, and modify the file
/usr/share/jive/applets/SqueezeboxFab4/SqueezeboxFab4Applet.lua

Line 139, replace getBrightness() with settings.minimalBrightness
Line 229, replace self:getBrightness() with settings.brightness

Restart. Now, after 10 seconds of not using the Touch, it will dim to
the minimal brightness setting. When using the remote, or touch, it
will set the brightness to the manual brightness setting. It only works
when the brightness detection setting it set to manual.

I hope a I can release a proper plug-in for this, with easy
installation.

This must be related to your DAC going temporarily off when it briefly

sort of delay built in so that a brief drop of signal doesn't cause a
 problem.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch for 24-96 flac to home theatre receiver

2011-03-18 Thread squigly1

You guys should be in sales. I should be picking up the SB Touch
tomorrow morning. I found a place a bit cheaper than the $350 I was
seeing online.

By retiring my old computer I didn't necessarily mean disposing. I
would have had a new one by now had it not been for the Intel Sandy
Bridge chipset issue/recall. I'll keep in mind an SBS.

Thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Newbie seeking expert advice

2011-03-18 Thread Mike K

The thing is working now!

I stopped using the use iTunes checkbox and just directed the SB to
my music files...bingo!

I will need to import the album art, but what I have there is showing
up. The art has to be imbedded into the music file as you guys said.
iTunes does not do this (again as you guys said) so I cannot use the
iTunes artwork import feature without modifications. Anyway, when I did
use it, half of the artwork was incorrect. No exaggeration, half of it
was wrong.

I will input 20 or 30 albums a night for a few weeks and before you
know it, I will have it up to date. I do have to run a scan to get the
art to appearunlessunless I am playing the album on the SB that
I am pasting the art into. Then it comes up right away. The server skips
and then the art pops up. Strange.

For the odd songs that have no album art I plan on using an image of
the artist and if I cant find that, I am going to design a custom
filler myself to insert.

Anyway, all seems to be well, and soon, I will be able to listen to it
for more than an hour.

LOVE the touchscreen interface! LOVE IT!

My thanks to everyone. I would never have figured out the art thing
without your assistance.

Mike

Okay, that's easy. For Logitech US you can find replacement Touch power
supplies at
http://buy.logitech.com/store/logib2c/en_US/DisplayCategoryProductListPage/categoryid.28136200?WT.ac=sc|downloads||dd.
Note that you need to buy the PS and changeable plug-plate separately.

[SlimDevices: Touch] Most of Internet Radio seems to be MP3 Format..............

2011-03-18 Thread Cut-Throat

Most of internet radio seems to be MP3 File Format. That can't be good
right? It doesn't seem to matter what kbps that they stream at if the
File Format is MP3 and is compressed as hell.

Does anyone know of any good Jazz Stations in the country that stream a
lossless program?

But it's still MP3, which means it's lossy! -- I have listened to it,
but it is not near as good as my local FM station.

I am also sure that the bps number is meaningless if the File format
that they are streaming is MP3
