I would use aplay first to prove you can play to the DAC and work out what the device name needs to be. (put a 24bit wav file on an sd card and then play direct from it using aplay to work this out) Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94512 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Is anyone using EDO with a Benchmark DAC (in particular one of their DACs with USB)? They have a new DAC coming out as well. http://www.benchmarkmedia.com/dac/dac2-hgc I have an older Benchmark DAC I that I'm fond of. I use with a touch, but it is pre-USB. I use the S/PDIF connection from TOUCH. garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=94512 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Trouble switching mysqueezebox and library
It is usually automatic provided you don't do anything with it . But if you try to use it it will try to wake the server and maybe give an error message while your waiting. However if you starts listening to an app or radio when the local server is unavaible you notice that it switches over to mysqueezebox.com , logitechs online server somthat you can have radio or whatever you wanted to listen to. When you want to go back to your local server you chose "my music" on the player . Or it should be aviable in the player tab in the web-UI anyway as being " on mysqueezebox.com" and you should be able to switch it back , but that only works if you have the correct mysqueezebox.com login set in your local server and it is able to conect to Internet ! To query mysqueezebox.com if any of your players are there . What browser do you use ? a reload of the page may be needed ? Ime Firefox works very well with LMS . If deliberately want to switch to mysqueezebox.com even if the local server is running there is a menu for that tucked away in the settings somewhere , this menu can be moved to your home menu , just use hold your finger on it and the context menu pops up and you have an option for that . Thanks. It's been months since I've gone into those settings, so I've totally forgotten where they are (too many menus and submenus for me). I'll check. The screen where you select the DAC as digital output. Once the DAC is selected, when you go back to that screen it has the name of the DAC with [info] after it... if you select it, it shows a screen with all that data. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Trouble switching mysqueezebox and library
An update: I was looking around in the advanced settings just now, and went to the player tab where my Touch wasn't being seen. I assumed that was because the power on it was off, but when I went to check it the power was on (I had just come home from work, and my daughter said it turned on by itself). Even with it on, and after a couple of refreshings, the Touch still didn't appear. I selected 'My Music' on the unit and it connected with the Library. I refreshed the page again, and the player now shows up. I could see how my problem with getting audio might be because the Touch needs to re-connect with the Library, but in the case I describe in my original post, I select 'My Music' and the Touch says it connects with the Library, but still no audio. It takes a power on/off to get it to work. Is there a setting to keep it connected to the Library? I just now occurs to me that my library is on my laptop (Macbook), which is off most of the day. Is the problem on the server end? I do always make sure that LMS is running before starting the Touch, so I assumed the connection would be automatic. Am I wrong? Thanks again, everyone, for your help! In the meantime, I'll keep fiddling with it. My > laptop/netbook and tablet all work fine with DHCP. > The DHCP server doesn't know about the fixed addresses, you have to explicitely assign IP addresses that are not in the "pool" the DHCP server uses. The only way tofind out what addresses the DHCP servere uses is to log in to the router and go to the DHCP configuration page. For example my router uses 100-200 as the DHCP pool, so stuff below 100 and above 200 are fair game for static addresses. But some routers will use 2-200 as the pool, others use 100-254 as the pool, so there is no way to choose something that is guaranteed to work, you have to find out what your router is doing. On most routers you can change it to whatever you want, so even if your SB stuff is in the pool you can change the pool. There is another issue, if the computer running LMS is running DHCP, some routers will change the IP address every time it renews the DHCP lease. In some environments this changing IP address of the server can cause the players to not find the server. To get around this problem I set my server to a fixed address and let DHCP set the address of the players, for me this seems to work much better than the server address changing and the players being fixed. Hi, I've just purchased a new Touch, and loaded everything up ... except when I play through the touch the sound is completely distorted. I was previously running my music to a Transporter, but that died (in the most frustrating way ... everything looked like it was working ... except no music .. ugh). Anyway, I'm running ... Mnyb wrote: > But there is wav input plugin, but this aproach is unsiutable for movies > the delay is severe. Waveinput is not available for all OSs. Rather than "delay is severe" I think unpredictable - some users have got it down to about 0.25-0.5 sec whereas for others it resolutely stays at 5 or more secs. There are some app which can play movies and a user can adjust the video/audio timing (e.g. mplayer, vlc ?) but they are not for all users and there is no guarantee that the audio sync with video will be achieved. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96741 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

As astoundingly stupid as it sounds, the MySB.com password field being blank is correct. :) What you want to look for on that LMS settings page is any mention of "invalid". If no mention of "invalid" then everything is likely AOK with LMS seeing MySB.com. [SlimDevices: Touch] Can the squeezebox be used as a USB DAC?
Hi Let's say I have a squeezebox touch connected to my stereo amplifier and I can play my music from my laptop in good conditions, using the dac of the squeezebox. What solutions do I have to stream the music of the movie I watch on my laptop on the same stereo system ? I read that streaming the sound of the movie via the squeezebox will work but there will be a delay which means that the images of the movie and the sound of the movie will not be synchronized. I don't mind using a USB or any wired connection to the squeezebox to avoid delay. But I would like to avoid directly pluging my laptop to the amplifier without using an external DAC because I believe the sound will not be good using the soundcard of my laptop and a jack. Any suggestions? thanks matthieu_ber's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=57567 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96741 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
