Fermate wrote: First of all: Does local host in this context mean the Squeezebox Touch or the Logitech Media Server? I'm not sure it matters that much as the problem only manifests itself for a few users which means it is probably a system setup issue rather than a plugin code one. Q2: After I have selected the track to play (Spotify or WiMP) or the radio station, does the data traffic go directly from the Squeezebox to the router or thru my server? Depends on the player and your setup. In Ireland we do not have Spotify or Wimp so I can only guess. For Touch players with default settings using http - then radio station with AAC and MP3 play directly from station to player with a separate back channel of program info going from player to LMS. OGG streams will also play direct. I don't know what happens in Wimp or Logitech Spotify. With Triode Spotify I believe there is a propriatery protocol which means Spotify sends to LMS, LMS decoes and sends audio stream (OGG I think) to player. Q3: By security software, do you mean Virus control at the server? Firewall at the server? -or packet inspection in the router? Anything (that inlcudes ISPs traffic shaping, routers, firewall, network optimisiing s/w, virus/trojan checkers, traffic monitors, proxy servers, etc.) that can examine/stop/delay/change a packet coming from station to player or LMS The server run on a dedicated W7 PC with #8220;Microsoft security essentials#8221; and firewall ON. I will turn off both and test more tomorrow. Some security s/w needs to be uninstalled to check if it is at fault as otherwise the s/w may still be handling packets. Neither of the plugins for Spotify/ WiMP or the Internet-Radio plugins have any settings for changing protocols (?) I only suggested the change for BBC plugin. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96670 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Fermate wrote: I see. Is there other parameters I can adjust or other things I should test? (Like install the BBC and check/adjust to see Iif I get the same problem as Mardler) I was wrong about the connection reset message - it can also be generated by LMS. Personally - when trying to find a problem, I avoid changing the system wherever possible. In this case stick to a well defined prcoedure which produces the error and make one change at a time. An alternative way of trying to isolate the problem would be to install LMS/Spotify/Wimp on an old PC/laptop and see if the problem is reproduced. If no problem then the issue is probably in your LMS and not network or router. Also check your server log to see if there is any message. To determined if connection reset is received by LMS or player can you enable logging for network.protocol.slimproto to INFO and try playing. If the connection reset is received by the player and not LMS it will be in the slimproto log message. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96670 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] can i run SBT s/ware totally from usb
I wonder what the effect would be of using a USB splitter w the Touch would be. Some people want to use the Touch as standalone. Would a spliiter w a stick w full LMS on one port and a HDD w their library on the other give them any additional functionality or possibly eliminate issues w tiny LMS ? dasmueller's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38035 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96922 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Nope full LMS is already on there just some stuff turned of in the startup script, that's because the Touch does not have the memory to run the full version if it could it would already do that . Touch has no swap so it would probably crash as soon as someone used the web-UI for example . My LMS on my server already uses more memory than the Touch has in total . It's a hardware limit Touch is to weak to be both server and player at the same time so server is simplified to the limit where the whole package barerly runs. That means no web-UI etc . Bad compromise , Logitech should have made a bit simpler Touch without onboard server and then a more advanced one with storage and more CPU/ram call it a base station or whatever to avoid server in the name ;) Any machine cabaple of running the server is simply to expensive to also be a player , so this compromise would not work Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96922 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] I'm a bit confused.
Thanks to all regarding exhausting explanations. My SB radios won't connect to the LMS on the TOUCH so I either have to use it with mysqueezebox.com as a straight forward radio or try and get it to connect to the USB which neither radio will do. The TOUCH however streams music from the USB stick without problem. It also can access mysqueezebox.com favourites too. So any ideas on why the radios won't connect to the TOUCH LMS when it's clearly up and running. I am damn sure it has worked before. I will happily settle for using my local USB LMS on the touch and the six presets for radio as I know how to do that. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] I'm a bit confused.
There is only one LMS onboard the Touch and it should get activated when you plugin an USB drive . If there is no USB drive it is not active afaik ? While the USB drive is connected and Touch is clearly using it you should be able to go to my music on the radio and it should connect if you have multiple severs running you should have an option to pick one of them . All players are really on the same network ? Not some adhoc arrangement where you in reality has two separate network ? It can get that way if you use two routers or conscript one as an ap and set it up in a certain way ? That said it is pushing it expect the tiny server on the Touch to serve a bunch of players ? It is buggy and unstable all on it's own, just saying not trying to crash the party for you :-/ a real server is just better Mnyb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4143 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96873 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

garym wrote: 3. TinyLMS running on TOUCH. If one plugs a USB HDD or Card to the TOUCH, this activates the TinyLMS inside the TOUCH. This is a limited version LMS. You can't install plugins (well some can be hacked, but I'm speaking in general). You have no webGUI with TinyLMS. I've never used tinyLMS in my TOUCH players, so I'm not familiar with how it handles things when the HDD is not connected. Maybe it automatically switches to mysb.com. Not sure. Does this mean that a Touch always, even after Logitech shut down mysb.com, will be able to play from a usb-disk and that for example a radio can sync with it and also play those files, and more important will the android app be able to control and play the files (post-mysb.com)? The main constraint with TinyLMS isn't that there isn't enough RAM to hold LMS, it's the feeble processing power. Storing LMS on a USB stick won't make the Touch's CPU run any faster, and the I/O would be slower. aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96922 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Not that I'm really into 192 files but just out of curiosity... Does anyone have an idea why I can't play 24-192 files using Touch 7.8 EDO V-Link 192 USB converter S/PDIF EE Minimax DAC? I was able to play the same files using Touch's S/PDIF output to the DAC. Am I missing something?
