[SlimDevices: Touch] Had to restart due to system error

2015-04-21 Thread Apesbrain

This morning both of my SBT had this message on screen. Don't think
I've seen this before or at least not in quite some time. Just curious,
what causes this?

[SlimDevices: Touch] Cannot Access Radio Stations

2015-04-21 Thread johnreid

When I try to access radio stations, I get the following comment -
actually, until I looked at the log, I never saw the instruction to
check the proxy configuration, but then I don't have any proxy.

[15-04-21 16:18:21.0029]
Slim::Networking::Discovery::Players::_players_error (146) Unable to get
players: Connect timed out: Invalid argument - please check your proxy
configuration (http=127.0.0.1:14068)

I have a D-Link DIR-628; on it, I have a Blackberry Playbook, a
Blackberry smart phone, an Android smart phone, my wireless printer
(Epson Workforce) and the Squeezebox Touch.

I can access my audio data base from both the Touch and the Web
Interface. There is no problem finding my music and playing it on the
Touch and through my system. Currently, my firmwear is: 7.8.0, Signal
Strength is 56%, LMS version is 7.8.0 and I am running Win 8.1. This
problem emerged about two weeks ago, and at first I thought the problem
was with the router. However, since I was able to add an Android phone
with no problems and all the other instruments work, I think it may be
the Touch.

I have tried re-setting the Touch several times as well as going into
the diagnostics and looking at network and wi-fi and re-setting to
factory settings. There is no change. Since the Touch can see and play
my Music on one of my HDs, I am at a loss to understand why it cannot
play any radio stations, whether I access them from my apps or direct
from my Squeezebox account. For example, one of the stations is:
http://classicalstream1.publicradio.org will play on Foobar with no
problem and used to play on my Squeezebox account. I cannot access
Tunein because of the report above --Connect timed out: Invalid argument
- - so I am at a loss as to what might be the problem.

[SlimDevices: Touch] sbt edo and Schiit Yggdrasil

2015-04-21 Thread photonblur

I asked Schiit if the Yggdrasil dac is compatible with squeezebox touch
edo
usb out and was told:
If USB Audio Class 2 is supported without drivers it should work
Does sbt edo meet this criteria?

Thanks,

pb-

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Announce: Enhanced Digital Output app - USB Dac and 192k Digital Ouput

also recently purchased a UD-501 for my other SBT.) I quickly
discovered that when I connect the two with either an optical or coaxial
cable, the DAC takes a second or two to adjust to a change in frequency
 (-e.g.- when I play a 96/24 file after a 44.1/16 file), and a I lose a
bit of the music. (This does not happen with the UD-501.)

One way around this might be to install the EDO and use a USB
connection. However, a search of this thread reveals there have been
some problems in the past getting the EDO to work with the Teac UD-501.
Have the problems with the 501 been resolved? Has anyone tried it with
 the 301?

By the way, my Squeezeboxes are currently running 7.7.3. Because the
Teac DACs can handle DoP, I may be moving to 7.8 or above soon.

You might need the newest version of LMS to get the latest version of
the audio scan code so that LMS can scan DSD files . The Touch firmware
would not matter that much ,but it will get at 7.8.1 when you get 7.8.1
or 7.9 .
Nope I don't know the oldest version you can use and still get audioscan
0.95 . This might actually depend on the server platform and CPU .

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Announce: Enhanced Digital Output app - USB Dac and 192k Digital Ouput

2015-04-21 Thread paulster

I can't comment on the compatibility with your DACs, but if they support
DoP then you shouldn't need to upgrade so long as your version of LMS
can deal with 176.4kHz or 192kHz files. DoP means you have DSD in a PCM
container, so you can just use DoP FLAC files with all the usual
tagging, etc. You just have to disable the volume control so it passes
it bit-perfect, and you're done.

2015-04-21 Thread paulster

You don't need to use DSD files if you're using DoP. They're stored in a
PCM container so LMS will scan the usual tags. The only exception would
be using 7.9 and SqueezeLite, where you can scan DSD files but have
SqueezeLite pass them to the DAC as DoP. DoP files can be stored in
FLAC, ALAC, WAV, etc.

Hmm. I saw this article, which led me to believe that 7.8 was at least
preferable, if not necessary.

http://www.easysqueezebox.com/index.php/articles/dsd-files-on-squeezebox-an-introduction/

I do have the ability to use JRiver to create DoP files.

But in any event, before I head down this path, I'm hoping for some
insight on the compatibility of EDO with my DACs. I note several rather
confusing (to me) posts relating to kernel 12, some of them apparently
arising after the user moved to 7.8.

Yes I was thinking of the play DSD plugin it actually makes DoP on the
fly for you from your DSD files and that would work with a Touch to with
EDO . I don't remember the exact file format used they are two kinds of
DSD files one useless that can't store any tags and one tagable format
.

I actually use the play DSD plugin to get PCM as none of my equipment
supports DSD , but that's rare you can usually get most recordings in
PCM anyway , I have 1 or 2 DSD only stuff .
