Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Amplifier recommendations for "new" Touch
Just go for anything that catches your eye within your budget & that has reviews that you identify wirh. I have three Touchs in different areas of the house, with very different amps & sets of speakers. I love it but it certainly isn't perfect. It just works for me. Especially when everything is synced.. On Fri, 09 Apr 2021, 23:36 fletch, < fletch.9zu...@no-mx.forums.slimdevices.com> wrote: > > Well here is what I am talking about on Amazon. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SBT streamer function and MQA
Almost everything I have read from properly independent reviewers, i.e. NOT people who are paid to review top end audiophile stuff, who have looked at MQA in detail, have said that it is simply not worth spending a single cent on it. In essence, it is considered a proper fraud .. only some people can "hear" the difference .. but nobody can measure any improvements at all. They can measure differences but normally because MQA is actually not "better" than the masters - one might say that would be impossible - https://archimago.blogspot.com/2016/01/measurements-mqa-master-quality.html Archimago is highly respected because he never just "opines" .. he always backs up his views with measurable detail .. Why would you want to do that? I don't think it can but there really is no point in any case. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Album art question
Why don't you just MP3tag the whole album & ensure that the album art is included that way. I always have the folder.jpg or png included in the tags AND in the track folder. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Today vs 2012; What's different today in the Squeezebox world?
My experience is that wifi really won't allow anything above about FLAC 5 to work smoothly without rebufferring. The easy way to check this is just to play a series of tracks ripped to low kbps up to the high end 'high res' stuff. The difference can be up 5,000 kbits per track. So a recent download can be at >5kbps whereas a track you dowloaded or ripped a few years ago could be at 128kbps. The latter is unlikely to cause any rebufferring whilst the latter definitely will - over wifi. Of course, to have a reliable wifi system is now perfectly possible with the current gen of mesh systems etc but you may still have to physically wire the Touch into the network if you routinely listen to highres stuff. For instance I would not bother with installing the EDO stuff on a Touch that only relies on wifi connect. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] New difficulty play Hi Rez files
For sure. Much better use physical connection for hi-res. Wi-Fi is not good enough at all - copes with ordinary FLAC but over about 1000Kbps, it will stutter & rebuffer over & over On Sat, 25 Jan 2020, 22:14 gellie, < gellie.9d8...@no-mx.forums.slimdevices.com> wrote: > > So I’m still having intermittent drops. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Rebuffering (again)
Do you also use Squeezeplay?? I often find that I have to "sort" the players so that when they synnchronize, I do the Touchs first and THEN add Squeezplay. I also make sure that the Touchs are not linked to the Wi-Fi router but to the satellite (I have an Orbi set up) ... All this started to happen to me when I reripped my MP3 collection to FLAC .. I guess the sheer "weight" of the files was/is a little too much for the Wi-Fi unless it is managed properly.
