Stop spinning. Just use your computer if that is what you want. I have no problem with that. You can even use your computer as a LMS server. I use SB Touch + Triode's EDO app coax out into a DAC. I feed my Touch from a Synology NAS. I play back hi res material up to 176/24 with what I consider a sublime result. The SB Touch is a fabulous network player, it is silent, with iPeng (or SB Duet controller) you have a fully functional (touch screen) remote + playback option on iPhone - what's not to like? Triode and Soundcheck. Both if you: thanks for the good work! I now have EDO working in my system with a Metrum Octave DAC. I will apply Soundcheck mods later. I run 7.7.2 and have SB Touch do the work as my server/network was not up to the task with 176/24 flac. The config is: Synology NAS 209+ hardwired to Netgear Wifi router hardwired to SB Touch COAX out Metrum Octave DAC The Metrum Octave DAC locks onto 176/24 but not 192/24. This is as expected. Experiments with a reclocking unit between the SB Touch beckons as it would be nice to play back all my 9 192/24 files at their native resolution ... Thank God All my HD Tracks Rolling Stones material works. :) I would also like to test if music files that are upsampled to 176/24 indeed do sound better through the Metrum than if played back at their native resolution/sampling frequencies. I changed the FLAC settings from native to sox and now the 176/24 Love in Vain plays through the Metrum as I speak. Now for 192/24 which isn't supported by the Metrum Dac - although some users have reported that their Metrum Octave DAC will lock on 192/24 material. Let's try Antonio Forcione Sabine Sciubbos's Meet Me in London track Caruso ... NO LUCK. Which means that I am limited to 176/24. It does not matter much, but it means that I will have all my 192/24 files (all 22 of them ...) downsampled - most likely I will convert them and store them on the server @ 96/24. There is also the chance that a Hardware USB to SPDIF converter like JKenny's Hiface MK. II will enable 192/24 playback and improve SQ because it reclocks the audio stream (II believe). That is all for today's testing. Now its on to some music! Hello. Sorry if this have been covered before. I did search. I have an SB Touch with the Triode enhanced digital out installed. I also will soon have a Metrum Octave DAC attached via coax out. Now, I would like to know if I can make Logitech Media Server upsample all my music to either 176/24 or 192/24 prior to sending it via cabled ethernet to my SB Touch. This is because reports claim that the Metrum Octave DAC sounds better when fed upsampled music. Alternatively, I know that I could use a USB to SPDIF-converter (with upsampling) to do this but I like to keep things simple (and inexpensive). Any thoughts? Bob. So are you using the John Swenson design or the Logitech Wall Wart? I also see some interesting DIY projects in your signature. A modded Nap 250 and a DIY pre. Hmmm. I am about ready to buy the ingredients, only I am such a noob that I don't know how many of each part to get. But I'll take a hard look at it in a moment. I just had my first soldering and de-soldering session and I think that John Swenson's psu will just be the kind of project that I can manage to finish in style at this point. I've got all the tools, bar a lab psu, and will have a few test sessions before I go on to the real stuff. Hi there. I will want to build a psu for my SB Touch, and I have followed numeous threads on that exact topic in far too many forums - and now my head is spinning from all that information. Now, I have immense respect for John Swenson (and a few other regular contributors to this forum) and I would like to try to build John's PSU. Photos of the innards of one of an actual build of the John Swenson psu would be very helpful as would a BOM list (although I suppose you can easily glean that from the schematic?). Thanks!
