Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch hard drive on net?
Claus_m;540115 Wrote: Hi, I also tried to activate the access from my computer to the USB device connected to the SB-Touch - but it does not work. The sharing is activated in the SB (sharing Settings/Advanced/USBSD Storage/Sharing) and I can see a very long name in the explorer under My Network path. But I can't access it (and can't see a folder etc.) - i get always an error message. And there is also no chance to enter the password. Are you getting the error network path not found error? I was getting that the last few days but I finally fixed it by unplugging my Touch and resetting my router. Now I can enter the password and it works. -- oofda oofda's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36801 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77709 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
[SlimDevices: Touch] Problems connecting to network USB hard drive
When trying to connect from my Squeezebox Radio to an external HD connected to my Touch it says... Problem Connecting We couldn't connect to Squeezebox Touch (USB). Make sure your computer is turned on and connected to your local network, and that Squeezebox Server is currently running. (yes, it is running) My other problem is that I can't connect to the Touch from My Network Places. The touch shows up in the workgroup but when I try to connect is says... \\Squeezeboxtouch is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found. My computer account is in administrator mode. Sharing is enabled on the Touch and I left the default u/p on the Touch. I've forwarded ports 3483 and 9000 to the Touch's IP address 192.168.1.4 but I can't ping that address in command prompt. I'm running XP home. What am I doing wrong? Anyone else with this problem? Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Static IP
JohnSwenson;538759 Wrote: Thats why I said to plug it into a laptap rather than a router or switch on the LAN. Most people are not running a software DHCP server on their laptop so connecting direct to a laptop will make a connection without servicing the DHCP request. John S. That's what I did and I don't have a software DHCP server running on my laptop. My Touch had a IP address (192.168.1.5) assigned to it by DHCP already so I did the method you described in your first post and chose a new static IP address (192.168.1.144). Then I reconnected to my wireless network. After that I checked the diagnostics screen on my Touch and those two IP addresses where blinking back and forth. I thought maybe the static IP I chose would show up after I rebooted my Touch but only the old DHCP assigned IP showed up. I repeated the same steps after I turned off DHCP on my router, (turning DHCP back on after I saw my static IP show up in the diagnostics screen) and now I have a static IP. -- oofda oofda's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36801 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77625 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Static IP
JohnSwenson;537754 Wrote: Right now there are two ways to set the IP address, either ssh and modify the files, OR try and connect to a machine without a DHCP server and it will then ask if you want to setup a static IP. The easiest way to do this is run a cable from the Touch to a laptop ethernet port (NOT the switch or router on your LAN), assuming the laptop is NOT running a DHCP server. Go to settingsadvancednetworking and choose the network type as ethernet, this will try and connect to a DHCP server over the wire. It won't find one, then give you the option to use a static IP, say yes and enter the address. Unplug the wire from the laptop and go back to your normal connection (wired or wireless). Yeah its a little messy but you don't have to edit the files on the Touch. John S. This won't work unless you disable the DHCP server of your router before you try to assign the static IP. You can turn it back on afterward.
