Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Music Folder empty problem
I'm experiencing the exact same problem, upgraded today to 7.5.3 hoping it might be fixed but problem is still there. -- spinvis spinvis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=42045 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80127 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Music Folder empty problem
My Squeezeboxserver runs on Linux, not Windows, but I know file permissions are a critical issue with Linux. In Linux, Squeezeboxserver sets up its own user, but it needs access to the files owned by the regular user. You might check the directory security settings for Windows to see if everyone has appropriate access to the music directory and files. -- mlsstl mlsstl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9598 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80127 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Music Folder empty problem
It seems not to related to permissions, because sometimes it works, sometimes not. -- shen shen's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=5787 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80127 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Ah it's working again after the Xth restart. Hope it stays working as I use this functionality quite frequently. -- spinvis spinvis's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=42045 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80127 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Music Folder empty problem
I've got the same issue too. The only situation where the music folder does not appear 'empty' is right after the (re-)installation of the squeezebox-server software in windows. It works only however until the computer is restarted. Then, folders are claimed to be empty again. Access to the music via album or track title etc. is at the same time of course possible. This problem is annoying to the greates possible extent. Having a Squeezebox Touch seems not about 'free your music'. Rather it increasingly creates the pressing wish to free oneself from this buggy product. -- Bamboleo Bamboleo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=41187 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80127 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Just recently however the problem has become permanent on this version (7.4.3). Restarting squeeze server doesn't help anymore - and I am now very frustrated to not have folders as this is how I navigate 99.99% of the time. Any help suggestions welcome. As I said earlier I have solved this problem by using a Segate external drive to store my music files, and I have been thinking that the replacement(extra)HDD I had recently fitted, had a slightly different way of dealing with the files, maybe due to the (non)relationship with win/media player. I came to this conclusion after the fact that it is only music files it had a problem with. Maybe it is squeezeboxserver and the way it deals with some HDD's after reading your experience. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Music Folder empty problem
How did you connect the internal WD drive to the Touch? Was it a SATA drive or an older PATA drive? Did you use a USB-SATA or USB-PATA converter? If so, which brand? I've used a USB-PATA converter, and that worked OK but was super slow, especially with a 4200 rpm drive. OTOH, using an internal WD drive means you may not have powered the drive with an AC adapter. In my testing, not using an AC adapter will cause the drive to spin up/spin down intermittently. -This appears to the Touch software as if you're unplugging and replugging the drive in and out of the USB connector. - I've seen some postings on the forums say that not using an external AC power adapter is OK, but we've received a lot of customer support calls from people who do this and then wonder why it doesn't work. *An external power adapter or supply is mandatory for USB hard drives plugged into the Squeezebox Touch. * So, the root of your issues with the internal WD drive could be: 1. Funky USB to drive converter, and/or 2. No AC adapter on your internal WD hard drive. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Music Folder empty problem
I have managed to fix it, by swapping the music files to an external drive on the PC a seagate one. Why it did not work on the new internal WD HDD is still a mystery, its formatted exactly the same as the Seagate. ajWaldo -- ajwaldo ajwaldo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=39007 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80127 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
