Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] My marvelous SB Touch with a perplexing puzzle
Well I got stuck into learning about and making changes with mp3tag and everything is now fine. That last piece of advice from aubuti was well made. It took me quite a while to work that one out! Thanks to the advice given here I am even happier with my marvelous Touch than I was before. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] My marvelous SB Touch with a perplexing puzzle
David Rhodes has been PG's guitarist for 25+ years. He might easily have been listed as one of the SO's co-componists. I'll re-download some of those albums and check their tags. I think I remeber Bittersweet to be one of those albums with broken tags. -- mherger Michael - http://www.herger.net/slim-plugins - AlbumReview, Biography, MusicInfoSCR mherger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82793 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

As indicated in my earlier post I do struggle with Tags although I am learning more day by day. Is there a way I can retag all of these albums myself? I've tried with mp3tag but have been unsuccessful so far which is probably due to my inexperience I suspect. Is there a simple and straightforward procedure I can adopt to overcome this problem? Yes, you can retag your stuff. Hmmm, it doesn't get much simpler than mp3tag. Maybe you should start a new thread and post your questions or issues with trying to tag with mp3tag and there are lots of folks here to help. -- garym garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82793 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Note that after changing tags with mp3tag (or any other tagging program) you have to do a clear-and-rescan on Squeezebox Server to get the corrected metadata to show up in SBS. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82793 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
[SlimDevices: Touch] My marvelous SB Touch with a perplexing puzzle
Hello everyone, new member of the forum here and a new Touch owner too. I have had my Touch for two weeks now and think it's marvellous in every regard. So easy to set up and to use and, for my tastes, absolutely stunning sound. I'm very happy with it indeed and would like to thank the members of this forum for their wise words and encouragement to potential purchasers. I run Squeezebox Server on my computer and play mostly 24bit Flacs with no problems at all. However I do have a rather small perplexing problem you might be able to help me with. I subscribe to the BW Speakers 'Society of Sound' music download service and with some of their tracks, not all, I have the following problem: a single album when loaded into the Server will show on the Touch as two albums with just one track on 'album one' and the remaining tracks on 'album two'. Another album with quite a few tracks actually splits into three 'albums' with a few tracks on each! The album title in these examples repeats itself five or so times in a cascade on the screen. Prior to obtaining my Touch I experimented with Squeezeplay Beta on my computer and by way of a test have found that the problem occurs on Squeezeplay as well. I have to admit I'm not too knowledgeable here and therefore I tend to take things slowly and check everything as I go but I just can't work out what may be causing this problem, some sort of file corruption I suppose, although I have re-downloaded a couple of the problem albums to no effect. As stated earlier this problem applies to only five albums downloaded out of twentfive or so in total. If anyone has any ideas on this I would greatly appreciate hearing from them for which my thanks in anticipation. -- Cholas Cholas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40960 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82793 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Sounds like one of the tracks has a different album name (maybe the name is subtly different...a space a hyphen etc). Also you'll see the disc tag and maybe the disc number is different or maybe the artist or album artist is slightly different. Anyhow, looking at files and their tags in mp3tag will probably let you see what's different. -- garym garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82793 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] My marvelous SB Touch with a perplexing puzzle
What particular albums do you see this with? I've reported tagging issues to them about a year ago. But my procedure still is download, rename artwork, check tags :-(. Pretty often they're missing year or genre information. Though they seem to have improved: today's download (Portico Quartet - Knee-Deep In The North Sea) seems to be fine (listening to it on my Transporter as I type ;-)). I'll probably collect some more information and let them know about the findings. -- mherger Michael - http://www.herger.net/slim-plugins - AlbumReview, Biography, MusicInfoSCR mherger's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=50 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82793 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] My marvelous SB Touch with a perplexing puzzle
Thank you for these two swift replies. I must confess I hadn't appreciated just how important tags are. To garym: I do use mp3tag and will now follow your advice and see what I can discover. To mherger: The albums I am experiencing difficulty with are: Benjamin Grosvenor This and That I'm getting three albums. David Rhodes Bittersweet I'm getting two albums and, oddly under the same artist I'm getting Peter Gabriel's So album which is one of my own CD rips. Gwyneth Herbert Ten Lives I'm getting two albums a different spelling of her name and only one track on each album. Howie B Good Morning Scalene I'm getting two albums Trio Goya The Heart of Invention I'm getting three albums I'm also getting an Unknown Artist which isn't even on my list!! Thank you both again. I'm now going to get stuck in to looking closely at Tags. -- Cholas Cholas's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40960 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82793 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

David Rhodes played keyboards on that album. Sounds like you have extra artists in the tags. (While it is technically correct to have that data, you can easily get too much information in the tags to make things useful.) -- snarlydwarf snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82793 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
