Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SBT/EDO with KEF X300A Speakers
OK...here's a silly question; that the experts already looking in here, can probably answer...so I don't have to post another (silly-question) thread :o I host my LMS on a "dedicated" PC, that is not my primary PC; it just hosts LMS and serves some other duties. In the short-term, I'm going to move that...and connect it to the X300As. I've never used that PC to play; just to control my 4 other Squeeze devices. What's the best/easiest way, to turn that PC into a -player-...that I could remote-control from the SB app on my pads; as well as continue to host and serve LMS? Yeah, and I think you've hit the nail on the head nicely. While I don't know how to do what you've suggested...I'm not an idiot, and can ask questions and follow directions with the best of them. That being said...I agree; I don't exactly have a ton of time, to invest...for an untested/unproven solution. I have Googled, and seen some of the postings you reference; i.e. "alsa" issues, etc. While I don't even know what that means...lol; it seems to me, to be unresolved. So I guess the answer is...I'm assuming, for now; the SBT and X300A is -not- a viable solution. Didn't want to steal one of my Touch's anyway...lol. I'm looking into alternatives, and if the SBT works "easily" with these speakers; well...I could always give it a shot then. Using the SBT shell command are no more complex than changing the kernel or all the other tests you've been doing. I don't use EDO and do not have a DAC so cannot provide any definitive help. But from this thread - different kernel have been used to sort out issues with USB support. However, looking at other forums the problems with X300As on Linux seem to be associated with Alsa mixer controls which is a different type of problem. I don't think X300a (or its DAC chip in another device) have been tested on SBT/EDO before so unless Triode (who is usually v. busy) is going to do some guidance, you need to get a better undertsanding of the problem. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101479 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

An alternative approach would be login into the touch (using ssh) and then check if the X300a is connected ok at a USB level (look at dmesg) and then look if they appear as alsa devices ( /proc/asound) and then try aplay to play a 44/16 wav file straight to the speakers. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101479 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SBT/EDO with KEF X300A Speakers
Can I assume, the EDO and/or SBT; are using some form of Linux, as its OS? Because I am seeing reports, that the X300As driver...does not play nice with Linux. I guess some have had success, with a "hack"; updating a kernal, and so forth (but that's not with SBT, to my knowledge...and way over my head, so I'm not interested anyway). Any feedback...about whether I have ANY shot at getting this to work; or should I start looking for another solution? :( Thanks CDLehner's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21868 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101479 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

I'm sorry to say...even with a powered hub; it seems to be doing the same thing. CDLehner's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21868 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101479 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] SBT/EDO with KEF X300A Speakers
There is also something iffy with USB drivers on many ARM platform hence the HUB will assist . I would try a powered one . Not sure that unpowered ones have the chipset you want . My thinking is powered because the Touch is possibly struggling to provide the power to drive the USB connection in the speakers, and is rebooting as a result. The stock PSU is adequate to power the Touch, but not necessarily other devices. I could be completely wide of the mark - I have been before and doubtless will be again :) Chris :) Stratmangler's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20387 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101479 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

With that not working...a hub is my next step. [SlimDevices: Touch] SBT/EDO with KEF X300A Speakers
So...I just picked-up these new KEF speakers. Wish I'd paid a little more attention, to the available inputs. I was hoping for optical s/pdif in; only USB-mini and 3.5mm. So...an SBT, using USB-out would work nicely; though I hadn't planned to have to rob one of my SBTs. But I can't seem to get it to work. Connected to the X300As, when I go to EDOs digital output settings > select audio output...I see the KEF there; but with its output selected, the SBT just keeps re-booting and re-booting.
