Teus Sorry, its squeezebox.server and squeezebox.server.cache on the Touch. On an external SBS there is a scanner option. The ones listed are the only ones that I see are related to the server, so set them to debug and see if you get any useful information. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Will it play back 24/96 from USB storage without lag?
John, I did set exactly those two to Debug. But... no extra information. During the artwork scan at 33% I did get the Out of memory error I reported before, without any information on what file/folder was scanned in the log. As far as I can see I have cleaned the whole disk of larger images, including images with other names than folder.jpg/cover.jpg and all tracks with large embedded images. I have no idea what to do next. So I think I'just go on builing a new library. It would have been nice to be able to use a copy of my main library, but it seems impossible. In another thread there is a discusion on file names used for images. It seems to me something is wrong in this area. I had two folder with both images folder.jpg and SmallArtwork.jpg and noticed in the database that the latter was used. That's the reason I deleted all image files with other names than folder.jpg (which, as I said, didn't help). They are probably in the server.prefs file on the Touch which means you have to SSH into the Touch and edit the file. I'm not at my Touch right now to give details. It will be later today before I can give some specifics. Do you need help in the logging into the Touch part and editing files with vi? Let me know and I'll include that as well. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Will it play back 24/96 from USB storage without lag?
Just got my Touch today. Playback stutters, buffers every five seconds with a good majority of my 24/96 files. Disappointed that I have to drop another $200 on a home server for streaming. I'm also running the latest FW (auto-updated via wi-fi during first boot). Non 24/96 FLAC files are stopping to buffer every two to four minutes or so. Is there any way to hide certain folders when connected via USB so that only certain folders are scanned? -- romis138 romis138's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38730 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79713 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

romis138;555700 Wrote: Should have went with the regular SB and encoded everything in v0, I guess. You did BUY the regular SB. As far as players go, there are only the Touch and Transporter available at this time. The Boom and SB Radio have speakers and were not designed to hook into a stereo and the Receiver is out of stock (there are some Duets here and there but include the Controller). So player only Touch and TP at this time. As to buffering, did you let it finish everything before trying to play the 24/96 files? Are they above -5 when you ripped them? Mine are ripped at -5 and are playing OK. I do notice a light pause before the first track starts to play, but no music is missing and no buffering. FLAC below 24/96 using TinySC starts playing immediately which is why I probably notice the pause. -- iPhone *iPhone* Media Room: Transporter, VTL TL-6.5 Signature Pre-Amp, Ayre MX-R Mono's, VeraStarr 6.4SE 6-channel Amp, Vandersteen Speakers: Quatro Mains, VCC-5 Reference Center, four VSM-1 Signatures, Video: Runco RS 900 CineWide AutoScope 2.35:1 Living Room: Duet, ADCOM GTP-870HD, Cinepro 3K6SE III Gold, Vandersteen Model 3A Signature, Two 2Wq subs, VCC-2, Two VSM-1 Kitchen: Squeezebox BOOM Bedroom: Second Boom Bathroom: Squeezebox Radio Ford Thunderbird: Duet, Mac Mini Ford Expedition: SB Touch, USB drive iPhone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13622 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79713 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Will it play back 24/96 from USB storage without lag?
AFAIC, I tried v7.5.1 (official build) and I still have problems with certain 24/96 files when using TinySC. I re-encoded them with different compression levels, but that did not make any difference (of course these files play flawlessly when using the external server). Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Will it play back 24/96 from USB storage without lag?
All my 24/96 files play on the Touch without any problem. BUT only when scanning is successfully completed. As long as any scanning process is running, 24/96 files will not play without stuttering. This seems as intended to me: on my other server I also don't play music when (re)scanning is going on. Another point is the scanning process itself. I have tried to let the Touch scan an exact copy of the library of my main server, but it always stops somewhere during the artwork scan with an out of memory eror. I have tried to fix this by making the artwork smaller, but without success. I now have decided to start from scratch and copy files to a new disk in batches. So far no problem. I have enough music for a 'holiday collection' (3200 tracks), but intend to go on to see where the problem lies (my main collection has almost 2 tracks). [SlimDevices: Touch] Will it play back 24/96 from USB storage without lag?
When playing back from a USB hard drive with sufficient power (external power), will the Touch struggle playing back 24/96? I have heard that the server the SB launches can hog quite a bit of memory and am wondering if that will impede 24/96 playback performance - if so, by how much? -- romis138 romis138's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38730 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79713 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

The TOUCH will not do any transcoding when running in TinySC Mode. IIRC, I did play some 24/96 FLAC files. I think the issue is what compression value one ripped with. Mine were all done at -5. -8 takes way to much processing power for TinySC.
