[Touch-packages] [Bug 1316873] Re: Left mouse button stops working
Had this problem for an age and found no resolution. Followed #11's issue source and unplugged my headset and USB dongle and mouse immediately started working perfectly. I would suggest people remove any other input devices and see if there is a clash somewhere. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1316873 Title: Left mouse button stops working Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This problem has plagued me for a few years across different laptops and Ubuntu versions. Current I am experiencing this on a Dell Inspiron 15z running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. It typically starts after I have used the chat or call feature in gmail, by clicking on the phone icon in the left chat margin. I am a Firefox user and have not tested this with chrome etc. It has not happened if i dont install google-talkplugin so it is quite possible that the plugin is to blame. Symptom === The left mouse button on all attached mice - USB , Trackpad and touch - will not do anything however the right mouse button continues to work. This happens to all applications and also to the desktop. The keyboard continues to function as normal. When this occurs , my solution is to Alt-F4 close all windows and log out of the X session. When I re-login the left mouse button works as normal. This is an irritant and work disruptor as I have to save all browser and desktop applications to safe state before I logout to reset the mouse. [Touch-packages] [Bug 953875] Re: Encrypted swap no longer mounted at bootup
Same here using MATE 16.04, I fixed ( At least I think did ) the UUID problem at /etc/crypttab and now I'm asked for the passphrase at boot. This will also be put into /etc/fstab. As after installation the UUID does not exist, such systems don't have any actual swap. UPGRADE FIX === An upgrade to Ubuntu 15.04 ("vivid") will detect and comment out these broken swap devices from /etc/fstab and /etc/crypttab. If you actually want to use those, do these steps: - Find the swap device that was meant to be used in "sudo fdisk -l" (it should say "Linux swap" in the last column), remember the device name (something like "/dev/sda5") - Find the UUID in /etc/crypttab (the long alphanumeric ID after UUID=) - Run "sudo mkswap -U 1234... /dev/sda5", replacing "1234" with the above UUID, and /dev/sda5 with the device name from step 1. - Edit /etc/crypttab to append ",offset=1024" in the fourth (last) column of the cryptswap1 line; ensure that there is *no space* between the "cipher=aes-cbc-essiv:sha256" and the appended option. If there is a leading "#" in the file, remove that too. - If there is a leading "#" in /etc/fstab in the line starting with /dev/mapper/cryptswap1 line, remove that. - Run "sudo update-initramfs -u". [Touch-packages] [Bug 1611945] Re: /dev/disk/by-path not properly populated for (e)SATA port multiplier disks
A quick search digs up that the path is created by this: https://github.com/systemd/systemd/blob/09541e49ebd17b41482e447dd8194942f39788c0/src/udev/udev-builtin-path_id.c#L349 . This code in that region was added in https://github.com/systemd/systemd/commit/ba86822db70d9ffd02ad78cd02b237ff8c569c7a but doesn't account for the fact that there may be multiple targets (each serving up a different ATA port 1)... Prior to that it doesn't look there was anything to build ATA paths at all? Additionally if my analysis is correct then this affects HEAD systemd-udev too. I guess it would be good to know what the paths looked like back in 12.04 (perhaps they were SCSI based?) and whether you get any paths of that style on a system like 14.04 or 16.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1611945 Title: /dev/disk/by-path not properly populated for (e)SATA port multiplier disks Status in systemd package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: We have a just-installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS machine with a number of disks behind port-multiplier eSATA ports, all of them driven by a SiI 3124 controller (sata_sil24 kernel driver). Our machine sees all disks on all channels, however under 16.04 only one disk from each channel shows up in /dev/disk/by-path/ (all disks show up in /dev/disk/by-id and /dev/disk/by-uuid). For our usage this is a severe defect because we rotate disks in and out of the external enclosure and rely on mounting specific slots in the external enclosure through /dev/disk /by-path. This did not happen in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, the release that this machine was previously running. According to 'udevadm info --export-db' and 'udevadm test-builtin path_id' and so on, systemd's udev stuff is assigning all drives behind the same port the same disk/by-path data (ID_PATH et al). In 'udevadm info /sys/block/sdX', the 'P:' and 'E: DEVPATH=' values show a difference in the target portion of PCI path, eg: P: /devices/pci:00/:00:01.0/:01:00.0/:02:00.0/ata1/host0/target0:0:0/0:0:0:0/block/sda P: /devices/pci:00/:00:01.0/:01:00.0/:02:00.0/ata1/host0/target0:1:0/0:1:0:0/block/sdb However the 'S: disk/by-path', 'E: DEVLINKS=', and 'E: ID_PATH' portions do not. For both devices above, we see: S: disk/by-path/pci-:02:00.0-ata-1 E: ID_PATH=pci-:02:00.0-ata-1 Naturally only one device can have a /dev/disk/by- path/pci-:02:00.0-ata-1 symlink, so instead of four disks per channel in /dev/disk/by-path we see one. Ubuntu release: 16.04 Package versions from 'apt-cache policy udev systemd': udev: Installed: 229-4ubuntu7 systemd: Installed: 229-4ubuntu7 'journalctl -b' reports that during boot systemd does report some 'appeared twice with different sysfs paths' notes, eg: Aug 10 13:34:21 verdandi systemd[1]: dev-disk-by\x2dpath- pci\x2d:02:00.0\x2data\x2d1\x2dpart1.device: Dev dev-disk-by \x2dpath-pci\x2d:02:00.0\x2data\x2d1\x2dpart1.device appeared twice with different sysfs paths /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:01.0/:01:00.0/:02:00.0/ata1/host0/target0:3:0/0:3:0:0/block/sdd/sdd1 and /sys/devices/pci:00/:00:01.0/:01:00.0/:02:00.0/ata1/host0/target0:0:0/0:0:0:0/block/sda/sda1 However it doesn't seem to be reporting this for all port-multiplier drives and their partitions. If it would be useful I can attach full 'udevadm info --export-db' output or the like. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1610543] Re: After upgrading to 16.04, greeter does not handle double screen anymore
Here come the news for today: the greeter's aspect changed, showing two resolutions (my external and laptop screens do not have the same proportions) displayed on screen (as it did with 14.04, the background is displayed twice on the larger - external - screen, with both proportions), while it was only displayed once since the upgrade. The problem is that, once I clicked to get the display, I was unable to write on the login pop-up: I could select a region (by a left double click) in the login box, but typing on the keyboard had no effect!.. I started to click here and there, hopping to solve the problem, and succeeded: I had to click on the top bar (with date, language and accessibility selections, ...) to get back to only one display of the background, and be able to type the login and password again. I hope my story would help, either by the turnarounds if someone else get a similar problem, or to locate the bug(s) and solve it (them). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to lightdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1610543 Title: After upgrading to 16.04, greeter does not handle double screen anymore Status in lightdm package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Hello. You need to be using inputMethodComposing: TextArea.displayText has different semantics - it's the text with no formatting, but not aware of the input method. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to unity8 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1595910 Title: review input field: send button issues with predictive OSK Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu: New Status in unity8 package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: Steps to reproduce: * Make sure predictive OSK is enabled * got an app in the store and start writing a review * Just write one word, no space after it (so that it is underlined for text correction things) => actual: The send button is disabled even though the text field holds a word => expected: The send button should be enabled Most likely the Send button is enabled/disabled based on inputField.text, while it should be inputField.displayText instead. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1578319] Re: QMLStringAppTestCase rejected by Unity8
** Changed in: ubuntu-ui-toolkit (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to ubuntu-ui-toolkit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1578319 Title: QMLStringAppTestCase rejected by Unity8 Status in ubuntu-app-launch package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in ubuntu-ui-toolkit package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed Bug description: I'm trying to run the ubuntu-ui-toolkit autopilot tests on today's image. First off, they could cause unity8 to crash, which is bug 1578258 which can be resolved with https://code.launchpad.net/~gerboland/qtmir/ual-catch-exception/+merge/293805 That causes unity8 to report it rejects some of the test apps the UITK AP test tries to launch: qtmir.applications: ApplicationController::createApp - UAL failed to create app for appId "ubuntu-ui-toolkit-gallery" : Invalid app ID: ubuntu-ui-toolkit-gallery UITK AP is launching like this: /usr/bin/ubuntu-ui-toolkit-launcher -testability -I /usr/lib/modules /usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/qt5/examples//ubuntu-ui-toolkit/examples /ubuntu-ui-toolkit-gallery/ubuntu-ui-toolkit-gallery.qml --desktop_file_hint=/usr/lib/arm-linux-gnueabihf/qt5/examples/ubuntu- ui-toolkit/examples/ubuntu-ui-toolkit-gallery/ubuntu-ui-toolkit- gallery.desktop which is not using upstart-app-launch - which would explain the fail. desktop_file_hint is not a supported means of launching an app (and can go away at any time), so UITK should change to use UAL in its AP tests. This indeed used to work until recently, but a recent refactoring broke the desktop_file_hint behaviour. Since it's not a supported behaviour, it should not be relied on, so it would be better to fix UITK than restore the old behaviour.
