[Touch-packages] [Bug 1324292] Re: re-add support for selecting text for copying
Our support for text selection and resizing seems to not be working very well. Using rtm build on krillin with webbrowser-app 0.23+14.10.20140910~rtm-0ubuntu1 oxide: 1.2.0-0ubuntu1 Testing using the following web sites: cnn.com, mobile.nytimes.com, m.espn.go.com, ubuntu.com 1) very difficult, or impossible to get the selection rectangle to show up at all. Press and hold does not seem to be triggering it. Often I just get a single word highlighted. 2) times I do get the selection rectangle to show up, I can't resize it to anything smaller than the paragraph which it seems to select by default. I can't get it to select just a single line or multiple words within the lines. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to webbrowser-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1324292 Title: re-add support for selecting text for copying Status in Oxide Webview: New Status in Web Browser App: Confirmed Status in “webbrowser-app” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: in the qtwebkit browser we had the ability to create a selection region with handles for resizing. needs to bring this back for oxide based browser. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1365497] Re: Inform user when a video format is not supported
@Jim it would be good to do the check at a low level like you suggest, either qtubuntu-media or media-hub as many different apps could request playing media of unsupported types, so checking that at the service level makes sense. Would be good for media-hub to not crash either but I guess that would be less important if we can ensure that it will never try to play anything it cant' handle. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to mediaplayer-app in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1365497 Title: Inform user when a video format is not supported Status in Media Hub: New Status in Media Player App: In Progress Status in “mediaplayer-app” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: When a video format is not supported the result is at best a black or green screen, a black video with audio, or worst case a crash. [Touch-packages] [Bug 1342123] Re: evolution-calendar-factory always running with high memory usage
To clarify, out of the box on krillin with no calendar sync even enabled, evolution-calendar-factory uses 32MB which is the 4th highest process in memory usage. This is with an empty database of no calendar events or alarms. I'm assuming evolution-calendar-factory gets loaded by indicator- datetime initially such that the indicator can show calendar events. If you have a large database of calendar entries (i.e. after you've done a google calendar sync), as Pat reported this process can grow to well over 100MB. It seems to have no upper bound, and since the evolution backend for calendar is simply a flat file of type .ics, e-c-f appears to load the entire file into memory. e-c-f really needs a sqlite backend or something such that it can manage it more efficiently. Someone needs to investigate what can be done in the short term reduce the memory usage if possible. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to evolution-data-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1342123 Title: evolution-calendar-factory always running with high memory usage Status in “evolution-data-server” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “indicator-datetime” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: At boot the process is using over 100MB on my mako (build 129) I sync'd a fairly large set of calendar events from google previously Does this process need to be running all the time? [Touch-packages] [Bug 1339016] Re: Initial sync of the calendar takes a prohibitive amount of time
We use syncevolution, which communicates with Google on the remote side and evolution-data-server on the local side to store events. There is no API in syncevolution to limit the scope of events retrieved. We need to look into modifying it to do so, and to optimize it's operational time as it's ridiculously slow (this in part is likely due to evolution- calendar-factory using a flat file to store the calendar events). Renato has indicated there is a newer version of syncevolution which has recently been released that may improve the situation. The next step is to try this new version and see if it helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to evolution-data-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1339016 Title: Initial sync of the calendar takes a prohibitive amount of time Status in Sync monitor for Ubuntu Touch: New Status in “evolution-data-server” package in Ubuntu: New Status in “syncevolution” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Mako running 116 Initial sync of default google calendar ran continuously for 90 mins before I terminated it The ics file grew to 8MB I can see two major things from the log: - it syncs all past events (I would suggest starting with the current or previous month if necessary) - it adds recurring events repeatedly (is the query using the wrong API and receiving events by timeframe rather than as raw event data?) This is fine, but the list shows a telephone icon rather than a message icon. If I select the telephone icon, the contact is added to the message and all is fine. This isn't a major issue, but can be confusing and is inconsistent with the dialer app's call log, where if you click an item in the call log, a list is displayed that shows a telephone icon with 'Call now' and a message icon with 'Send text message'. This is with image, 57. 1 - there is no visible way to distinguish the contacts app vs the contacts view in the dialer other than a subtle hint that there are more tabs in the top panel. As they have different features available this can be a bit confusing. 2 - the list is too long to search and even with the letter shortcuts can take some time, search should be restored even if with a short term fix 3 - when adding a new contact, the gray help text to fill in the fields is not at all visible, probably needs different font treatment, not matching the mockups 4 - there is no filtering support so the All Contacts phrase has no context unless its as opposed to favorites, but with no favorites seems very odd. 5 - the ability to go directly to a letter is nice, perhaps we need some indication that this option exists, although once learned its fine. Its also not accessible if you have favorites, the user needs to scroll up first. Perhaps Favorites category should also collapse and provide an entry to the quick select. There was no interaction from user. Possible solution: The snap decision should stay on screen for the amount of time the app asks it to, being always app dependant. A 60sec. time-out is too short due to use cases where an action from user is mandatory. Use case example: A class 1/2 SMS arrives after user triggered a USSD command from dialer. These type of SMS always requires a response from user (CANCEL or a further COMMAND).
