Re: [Trisquel-users] Need help with Frost and FMS on Freenet
I tried that and it told me I already have the newest version. H.

So I found a log of sorts. Looks like its giving me a connection refused error. Any ideas? Re: [Trisquel-users] Need help with Frost and FMS on Freenet
Please see the attached screenshot. That is what pops up ever time I try to run Frost. I have all the latest versions of Java and my default is the latest version. I wish I had more info. Thanks.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Need help with Frost and FMS on Freenet
These programs are pretty much only downloadable while on the Freenet network, so I can't provide a link. Although I believe if you search "Frost Next", I believe theres a github to download it. Both Frost and FMS are essentially messaging/forums to talk to other users. I can't ask anyone on Freenet since I can't get FMS to work.
[Trisquel-users] Need help with Frost and FMS on Freenet
Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help me since I have no idea where to ask this question. I recently installed Trisquel 8 on a new PC and everything is running great. I got Freenet up and running fine as well. But I can't seem to get Frost to run or FMS. With Frost, it keeps telling me I have an outdated version of java. So I downloaded everything java I could find in the synaptic package manager and made sure my defaults are the newest version of java. But still, it tells me I have an out dated version. Any idea why? I can't even locate a log file. I have included a picture below of the shell file. Any help is appreciated. As for FMS, I don't really have much info other than when I try to run it, nothing happens. I even checked 127.0.0.1:8080 and nothing can connect. I'm not the most tech savvy, so any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Need help installing Freenet on Trisquel 8
Hey guys, Im having issues with Frost again. I hadn't used it in a long time, but when I opened it today, it keeps telling me I'm using an old version of Java. So naturally I updated my java, but it still doesn't work. Here is the log. Any ideas how to fix the issue? Thanks. Re: [Trisquel-users] Need help installing Freenet on Trisquel 8
Thanks. I was able to get Frost to work! But now I'm having issues with FMS. I downloaded and extracted the needed files. When I click on the FMS icon, nothing happens. I guess this is normal in linux, but when I go to localhost:8080 it doesn't connect to FMS. I even waited an hour or two and tried again, but to no avail. So I tried running it in the terminal, and this is the error it gives (there were no log files this time): ./fms: error while loading shared libraries: libfreeimage.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Any ideas?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Need help installing Freenet on Trisquel 8
Hey guys, I have a question about installing Frost on Trisquel. I thought I'd bump this thread since it's Freenet related rather than start a new one. I downloaded and extracted Frost. I updated my open-jdk to make sure I had the latest version and did this for openjfx as well. However, when I click on the frost shell file, it creates a .log file in the frost folder but doesn't open frost. In other words, theres no interface for frost. Any idea what is causing this? Sorry, I'm a noob. Thanks for any help.
[Trisquel-users] A question about ipv6
Hi guys, sorry to bug you with another question. But I use openVPN on Trisquel. When I check my IP on ipleak.net it will show my ip address on the right where it says ipv6. On my Windows PC, I disabled ipv6 and it fixed the issue. However, I'm not sure how to disable it on Trisquel. I found some commands on other forums, but when I did them it broke my internet connection and I had to reinstall Trisquel to fix it. I suppose it could be the servers I'm using, but it leaks my IP on ipv6 on all of them. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks for any help.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Need help installing Freenet on Trisquel 8
Thank you! It worked!
[Trisquel-users] Need help installing Freenet on Trisquel 8
Does anyone know how to do this? Do I need sun java or something else? I followed the instructions on the freenet site, but they didn't really help. I'm able to download the files but not sure how to install. I'm a linux noob, so any help is appreciated.
[Trisquel-users] Sparse file issue w/KVM
Hello, I've installed KVM and and everything is fine. I've been trying to create a VM with Whonix OS. I am having some issues with the file size when I run: tar -xvf ~/Whonix-Gateway-*.libvirt.xz and tar -xvf ~/Whonix-Workstation-*.libvirt.xz When I run these commands, it eventually errors out and tells me I'm out of space. I am not sure why since I have over 100GB on the partition. So I checked the size of the qcow2 file, and it's 100GB! I asked this question on the Whonix forum, but they said they believe it is a host operating issue (Trisquel 7) with sparse files. Any ideas? (These are the instructions I've been following FYI: https://www.whonix.org/wiki/KVM/Installation_Screenshots)
Re: [Trisquel-users] Post install FDE?
Thank you!
Re: [Trisquel-users] Post install FDE?
Thats kinda what I thought. Is there any 'free' software I can encrypt with? Similar to Veracrypt?
[Trisquel-users] Post install FDE?
Hi, I installed Trisquel on a Libreboot T400. When I was installing, I chose other options so I can partition the volumes. Now, how do I go back and encrypt everything? I did choose to encrypt home, but that's all.

[Trisquel-users] Issues creating a VM with QEMU/KVM
Hi, I installed QEMU/KVM and the Virtual Manager. Everything seems fine. When I create a VM and attach the ISO, the last step gives me a Kernel Panic - not syncing: Attempted to Kill Init - and crashes my PC. Any idea how to fix this? Im using a T400 with Libreboot and Trisquel 7.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Need help installing PIA VPN...
So, I was able to get it to work. I installed it and created the connection in the network manager. Thanks for your guys help! And thanks Mangy Dog for the tweaks! I did those.
[Trisquel-users] Need help installing PIA VPN...
Hello. Me again. As if you couldn't tell, I'm brand new to Trisquel. I apologize for so many questions. So I have PIA VPN and I'm trying to install it on a T400 w/Trisquel and Libreboot. First I followed these instructions. https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/installer/download_installer_linux Everything seemed OK, but when I click on the icon for PIA, nothing happens. So I tried these instructions. https://helpdesk.privateinternetaccess.com/hc/en-us/articles/219438247-Installing-OpenVPN-PIA-on-Linux I was able to get a connection to PIA, but the icon still does nothing. How do I get the icon to work and access the settings? Help!
Re: [Trisquel-users] Virtualbox on Libreboot w/Trisquel?
Thank you. On the Libreboot says this: "Compatibility (without blobs) Hardware virtualization (vt-x) The T400, when run without CPU microcode updates in coreboot, currently kernel panics if running QEMU with vt-x enabled on 2 cores for the guest. With a single core enabled for the guest, the guest panics (but the host is fine). Working around this in QEMU might be possible; if not, software virtualization should work fine (it’s just slower)." So, does this mean VB would work, just be slower? What about KVM? I'm wondering because of the vt-x is not enabled normally on these machines and without the host BIOS I dont think I can enable it.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Virtualbox on Libreboot w/Trisquel?
If VB isn't good, which VM program would work? This is on an old Thinkpad T400 with Libreboot and Trisquel 7.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Anti-virus software?

Re: [Trisquel-users] Anti-virus software?
Thank you! I plan on using PIA since I've had a very good experience with them. Will there be any issues setting this up? I apologize for these newbie questions, Im very new to all this! lol

Re: [Trisquel-users] Anti-virus software?
Thanks guys! What about a firewall? Would I need that? Sorry, I'm new to this setup.
[Trisquel-users] Anti-virus software?
Hello, I was wondering if anyone can recommend any good anti virus programs that would work well with Trisquel and Libreboot? Or,...is there a point to have antivirus software with this setup?
[Trisquel-users] Hardware?
Hello, I recently acquired a Thinkpad T400 with Libreboot and Trisquel 7 installed. It also has an Atheros AR5B95 wireless card. Basically my question is this: I want to have this machine be fully dedicated to Linux and FSF approved software. In general, I would like to add any additional hardware to it that will help it run better, and be as secure as possible. I know this is a wide question, but what are some hardware options I can add to it to help it be more secure and just plain run better and be fully dedicated to FSF and Linux? Go easy on me, I'm new to Linux so I apologize if this question is too general. Any help is appreciated.
