I joined this site years before I bought a system that's freedom friendly.
Even then, It's not complete yet, I'm still trying to find money to complete
it.

When I joined, I was mildly interested about a 100% libre system. You know
kinda like those people that make videos about Windows 98 and ask if it's
still useful today doing daily tasks. But, now with centralized proprietary
stuff constantly violating my trust, I thought "I wouldn't be surprised if my
Bios was spying on me" and than I thought "Oh wait, it probably is thanks to
IME/PSP".

Do you know what NVIDIA GPU your system has? If so it might be possible to
give a pointer on what kernel might be needed, or if it's a very recent one
then even new nouveau kernel modules may not support it well.

Debian 10's default kernel is 4.19, whereas Trisquel 8's is 4.4. It's
possible that your hardware is better supported by the newer kernel.
Trisquel's repository has a 4.15 kernel you could try, and you can add
jxself's[1] repository to install 4.19.

Not all of us use Trisquel. We all just try to do what we can.

[Trisquel-users] I cant join the community =(

2019-09-10 Thread peoy1988
Sorry, but I can't joine the trisquel community. I tried installing trisquel
on my computer, but I got a screen resolution of 600x something. I tried
every way to get rid of VESA and replace it with the open version of nvidia
driver nou (something), but without success. I also tried to configure the
xorg.conf.vesa file. I ended up installing the latest version of Debian where
everything worked "out of the box" without any commercial drivers. I think
it's a shame because I like the trisquel philosophy of being completely free.
