DAVEH:  As I said before, when Jeff made that comment, it caused
me to wince.  I think Jeff responded in error, unless he was thinking
along the lines I just mentioned.  I can't imagine any LDS person from
the bottom (Jeff) to the top (Pres Hinckley) not believing in the virgin
birth, death and resurrection of Jesus.   That is the way I remember
you defining "Christian", and that is doctrine that LDS theology subscribes
  to.

 He then backed down, maybe.
THIS MORMON JESUS BEING THE BROTHER OF SATAN IS SUSPECT AT THE VERY
  LEAST.DAVEH:  I explained
that relative to the pre-mortal existence.  I understand you don't
believe it.  In fact, you said something to the effect that you
really don't care about any pre-mortal existence, if I remember
correctly.  It is that lack of interest in something that is so
important which I find so interesting.  That is why I am in
TT.to find out why Protestants would ignore such an important part
of the gospel and their eternal progression.

This is where you don't understand Christians.  All
Christians preach the same gospel.  The gospel is the death,
buriel, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  This is where we
  all agree.
DAVEH:  Then you would consider LDS folks to be
Christian too, since we believe the
such!?!?!?!?!?Michael D:  Dave H, and Glenn,  on a point of
interest ... If someone said he believed in Jesus who was born of a
virgin, died and resurrected, but was fathered by a super-evolved ape,
and is/was himself one, would that qualify as the same Jesus as
Christians, and LDSers, believe
in?DAVEH:  No to both questions.
Michael D: Well, the conclusion is obvious, I am
sure. The Jesus LDS folks believe in was created by the Father, who was once
a man (haven't gotten a definitive answer from Dave H. yet as to how He
became such. Of course, there was a non-LDS offering recently  {Perry,
I think} that summarized the LDS teaching thus: God, the Father of
Jesus, resulted from an infinite regression of Gods... Is that accurate LDS
Dave H??? If not, can you offer fruther enlightenment?)  and is
now an exalted man: as is the Son whom He created, who was an
angel, the brother of
satan, who became a mortal man, and has now achieved the state
of exalted man, thus making him a God like His Father. And He is working to
make us all exalted men , thus making us Gods like Him and His Father.
Did I get that right, Dave H?
Contrastingly, Born-again Christians believe that God
the Father is eternal: having no beginning nor ending, He alwasy was God and
never was anything else. Jesus is also eternal, having no beginning, nor
ending. Was never an angelic being, but always
divine, was the creator of satan, and all other
things that ever came into being. He took on human flesh an thus becoming a
man, and having been glorified, is now Lord of all creation, Not just by
virtue of creation anymore, but by virtue of redemption and
reconciliation.
The Mormon Jesus, and the Jesus of Born-again
Christians share great diffeerences which set them eternities apart from
each other.

The answer, of course, is that I dearly enjoy reading and sharing posts with
the kindhearted Believers on TT. But the truth is, in real life I would
never associate with the toxic people I find here. I don't need hateful,

I think that Iz would prefer, David, that we not make her departure an
ongoing topic. BUT: I concur that she is NOT the most caustic. Why do what
you do best? Define 'caustic' then, review her posts over the past year.
She'd get much more than an honorable mention, David.

Further:Please be more specific as to the 'ad hom' & 'foul name that I (you)
cannot even repeat in good conscience'. Are you referring to my remark
describing you?

Lastly, I suspect Iz would never use the language you did to describe
herself. I suspect that even her husband would not. Reign yourself in just a
tad, David.

Peace be upon you, David. (It'd appear that you lost your 'peace' during
that post.)

You know,  I actually gave my comment some thought.  But, as I read her final post,  I realized that I needed to make my point.   I will not discuss  it further, David,  since she is gone (she has left before, by the way.)  I have as much fondness of her and she has expressed towards me.   Just being honest.

Re: [TruthTalk] Unsubscribe please

2005-12-31 Thread Dave

thus,
Bro, Nazis ain't Protestant

DAVEH:   Your logic is flawed on this, G, and you seem to be stuck in a
box trying desperately to separate Nazism from Protestantism.

When the Nazis seized power in 1933, the Protestant churches had
suffered a decade of steep numerical decline; in that year, however,
they began to gain members. For millions of German Protestants the Nazi
regime signaled a revival of Christianity after the decadent, morally
uncertain years of the Weimar Republic. Many Protestants, including
pastors, became keen Nazi party members and officials. When, after
1937, relationships between the Protestant churches aim the Nazi state
deteriorated and churchmen were dismissed from official posts, there
was much disappointed protest.

Catholicism, however, never appealed to the Nazis. (Hitler said on a
number of occasions that he was nearer in spirit to Protestantism.) Principally
this was because Catholicism was internationalist in outlook, while
German Protestants were for the most part fiercely nationalist. But the
Nazis's detestation of Rome derived also from their skewed notions
about the papacy. The Vatican was, of course, a foreign power, which
disqualified it from having any right of influence in insurgent
Germany. It was also regarded as the culpable party in a centuries-old
perversion of Christianity: materialist, luxurious and, above all,
Jewish. (Hitler asserted a belief that all the most notorious
Renaissance popes were Jews, the front men for the great Jewish
conspiracy to achieve world domination.)

...Interestingly,

the paganists were a minority, much derided by Hitler and Goebbels,
who remained nominal Catholics and paid church taxes to the end.

...the author claims Hitler was a lip serving Catholic, but yet is
seems obvious that his heart was with Protestantism.  The above site
can be found at...

http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1058/is_16_121/ai_n8702389

Pictures you referred to can be found at...

http://www.nobeliefs.com/nazis.htm

...As you run down through the pictures, please note the crosses on
the graves of the Nazis.  From what I've heard promoted on TT a short
time ago, those crosses represent Christians.  (I suggested they
represented people who had died.)

Now, if you read further down the page...

Mass meeting of the German Christian Movement
13 Nov.1933

A radical wing of German Lutheranism and the main Protestant branch
supporting Nazi ideology, the German Christian Movement reconciled
Christian doctrine with German nationalism and antisemitism.

..and

Ludwig Müller, a Nazi sympathizer, and a candidate of Hitler, was
elected to the position of Reich Bishop in 1933 as Hitler attempted to
unite regional Protestant churches under Nazi control. Hitler did not
practice separation of Church & State.

Berlin, Germany, November 17, 1933.

...you will notice a picture of LM.   A few pictures later, you can
see LM performing the Christian wedding of Goring, with Hitler as his
best man.

Shortly thereafter, you can imagine the influence Catholicism had
on Hitler in his youth that failed to stick from his Mother's cemetery
picture

Hitler's mother's grave

Klara Hitler was a pious Catholic mother who raised Hitler according to
her beliefs.

Hitler felt grief-stricken over his mother's death. She was buried
alongside her husband in Linz, Austria. German soldiers here pay their
respects to the grave in 1938.

Note the Christian cross on her monument.

so it becomes obvious that Hitler had roots in Catholicism that
were merely catered to for political purposes.  He seemed much more
intent on focusing on Protestantism.

As you get closer to the bottom, you can see pictures that
reflect

Deutsche Christen (German Christians)
The Deutsche Christen (DC) became the voice of Nazi ideology within the
Evangelical Church (the Religious Right of their day) and approved by
Hitler. They proposed a church "Aryan paragraph" to prevent
"non-Aryans" from becoming ministers or religious teachers. Most church
leaders solidly supported the "Judenmission." Only a very few number of
Christians opposed Nazism such as the "Confessing Christians" (a Church
movement not recognized by the Protestant orthodoxy) headed by Dietrich
Bonhoeffer. The support of Nazism by the majority of German Christians
and German Christian leaders shows the danger of mixing religion with
government.

The photo on the left shows Christian worshippers of Christ and Nazism
on the march in front of the Berlin Cathedral. SS guards stand at
attention. The head of the march shows members in party and SA uniforms
while pastors follow in the rear.

Note the flags with the Christian cross with the swastika in the middle
(also described as the Double Cross).

.Rather interesting, isn't it G!  Kinda puts to rest your
theory that Nazis ain't
Protestant.

IMO, to the extent that what you describe is
historically accurate, this simply reflects what the church 'catholic' does with
power. It (power) actually does corrupt. This is so throughout the history of
the church.

thinking Hitler was not a threat to them.

Hitler admired the structure of the rcc and that he organized his

DAVEH:   The author seemed to think otherwise...

Catholicism, however, never appealed to the Nazis. (Hitler said on a

..To me it seemed he gave lip service to the RCC to keep them
from getting restless, so to speak.  Then there is the diplomatic
effect such a pact might give the RCC folks, both inside and outside
Germany.   In effect, he was marshaling forces that included large
numbers of RCC troops who would be both allying with other RCC factions
(viz., the Italian troops) to fight against RCC folks in the allied
countries.  Any goodwill gestures he could evoke before the conflict
would be to his advantage during the conflict.

deteriorated and churchmen were dismissed from official posts, there
was much disappointed protest.

Catholicism, however, never appealed to the Nazis. (Hitler said
on a number of occasions that he was nearer in spirit to
Protestantism.) Principally this was because Catholicism was
internationalist in outlook, while German Protestants were for the most
part fiercely nationalist. But the Nazis's detestation of Rome derived
also from their skewed notions about the papacy. The Vatican was, of
course, a foreign power, which disqualified it from having any right of
influence in insurgent Germany. It was also regarded as the culpable
party in a centuries-old perversion of Christianity: materialist,
luxurious and, above all, Jewish. (Hitler asserted a belief that all
the most notorious Renaissance popes were Jews, the front men for the
great Jewish conspiracy to achieve world domination.)

...Interestingly,

the paganists were a minority, much derided by Hitler and
Goebbels, who remained nominal Catholics and paid church taxes to the
end.

seems obvious that his heart was with Protestantism.  The above site

the graves of the Nazis.  From what I've heard promoted on TT a short

represented people who had died.)

It is interesting that Izzy unsubscribed last year on Nov. 22.  Perhaps it is a holiday thing with her.  Thanksgiving last year.  New Years this year.  She probably receives many during the holiday season and does not have time for TT because she is busy loving others who appreciate her ministry and service.  Perhaps some of us should be concerned that we are considered swine unworthy of pearls.  Which of us are sheep and which are goats?

Peace be with you.David Miller.

Every person, Dean, is of that nature. (including
Christians) I assume that (the Christian part) would include YOU? Have you been
so little time on earth among believers that you've failed to notice this
reality? I've always believed, virtually of course, in the utter genuineness of
Linda's Christian character (along with the other TT participants that
constitute the Christian contingent on TT). I'd say to you what I said to DM,
Dean. Review her posts for the last year for 'conduct unbecoming'. One does not
have to look too hard.

cd: Lance every Christian has to deal with choices of right or wrong on a daily basis and sometime we don't always make the right choices (which I do often)-but I will only judge according to biblical parameters which are: Is there sin present of a commandment nature? If so my choice then is to rebuke with love or -if ignored -a stronger rebuke. In either case once repentance is shown then I am to show that person a high degree of love. When making that decision about a fellow Christian they must be given every benefit of the doubt as too falsely accuse one of Christ's is walking on dangerous ground. This is why St. Paul stated that if eating meat offended his brother then he would never eat meat again-as not to offend.I see no sin in Izzy-I see a full sister that I love.Lance have you reviewed your posts for the last year for "conduct unbecoming"? I personally think we are all in for a whipping of chastisement nature.

Then Dean wrote:

A Baptist Preacher/Pastor as JD is.

Then John wrote:
Looking for that explanation, Dean. Looked like an insult to me a
really agressive one, at that.

Now, Perry comments:

John, I did not see an insult in what Dean wrote. All he is saying is that
the one being to paid to preach is "A Baptist Preacher/Pastor as JD is [a
preacher/pastor]."

No need to be so sensitive. I really do not think Dean meant anything by it.

People, understandably, intervene on
behalf of those for whom they care.

DAVEH:   Which is why I'm chatting with you about this, Lance.

Family members may speak harshly, on
occasion, to one another

DAVEH:   I would like to think that fact does not justify its
continuation.

These same family members may not permit
the same liberty to non-family members

DAVEH:   I've certainly mentioned my observation of a double standard
in TT before.   Though I let it justify my subsequent posts, in
retrospect I regret having made that justification, as it lowered
myself, rather than lifted anotheras I think the Lord would
preferred.

DM should appreciate you, one whome
he apparently sees as a family member, speaking on his behalf.

DAVEH:   I suspect DM appreciates and loves each and every TTer for a
variety of reasons, each for perhaps a different reason.  Being the
black sheep of TT, I doubt that I really fit into anybody's family
here..but I don't think DM would want to exclude me for being
different, so to speak.   Though one does not necessarily have to appreciate another,
IMHO.one should respect another.  As you know, that is one of my
weaknesses, which I intend to work on during my tenure in TT.  Perhaps
we can travel that journey together, Lance.

What's the problem with "reading him"?
Same argument some have with God; they like the
