For sure it doesn't reduce my work and I suppose that of some other translators neither. It would be better to talk about such a change to translators *before* introducing such new processes. Also I can not see, why there should be less knowledge involved. As far as German translation is concerned we have a well established procedure using codereview which is much better laid out for our purpose than the pootle interface. I see practically no advantage for us (German translation) in using pootle, it will create more work instead. I would really like to keep the well established and productive process for the German community. [tryton-dev] Using Pootle to translate Tryton
Hi, I have setup a Pootle instance to ease the translation of Tryton. The instance is running at http://pootle.tryton.org/ If you are a current translator, please create an account, I will give you administration right for this language. This will give you the right to request update from the source, push/commit the translation and manage access right for this language. If you want to help to translate, you can create a user and make suggestion by default. You could also request from the administrator of the language to get direct translation right. If you want to manage a new translation, you can request to me to become the administrator for this new language. This will not change the translation timing. I mean that the pofiles will be update at the freeze of the repositories and the pofiles will be committed to the module repositories at the end of the translation period. But the translators don't need any more to use mercurial and Tryton as those operation will be performed by the release manager. If you have issues with Pootle, please send a message to https://bugs.tryton.org/issue4791 The server is still running for now with the CherryPy built-in server but I will soon change it to run as FastCGI. For the internal process description, you can read https://bugs.tryton.org/msg21524 I hope this will boost the translation process by allowing more people to help the existing translation process and/or translate to new language.
