[TV orNotTV] Re: What the Heck is a 'YouToo'?
I suspect they meant to type September 19, based upon this notice on Time Warner's eastern Wisconsin system: http://www.timewarnercable.com/Wisconsin/learn/programming/legalnotices/legalnoticeSE.html In addition, from time to time we make certain changes in the services that we offer in order to better serve our customers. The following changes are planned: On 8/15 Sleuth becomes Cloo. On 8/28, TV Shows On Demand will no longer be on 511. On 8/31, TWCable How To On Demand joins the lineup on 456. On 9/19 American Life becomes Youtoo. On 9/27 Country Network will join the lineup on channel 988. On 9/29, Photoshow TV will no longer be on 410. Tom Wolper, to Joe Coughlin: Wow, they're going to be as raunchy as Fuckbook? Calculated risk for a channel like that. Apparently there are some zealous Facebook fanboys who might find this thread on a Google search and flame us. They can get in line, like all those gwelbs allegedly to flame us over a certain former Idol contestant. I live for this. -- BOB -- TV or Not TV The Smartest (TV) People! [TV orNotTV] Re: What the Heck is a 'YouToo'?
Service Electric, who's carried this channel for quite a few years, refers to it in its (TV Guide-branded) interactive program guide as YouTV. Which is unfair to anyone else using the name elsewhere. When I tried americanlifetv.com, another URL it owns, it trapped to www.youtoo.com/betainvite, where the graphics suggested it is an online TV creature in the social-site world. Nothing else on the page save spaces to enter one's name/email to register therefor. No, I'm not going to. -- BOB -- TV or Not TV The Smartest (TV) People! Until research, I believed ALN was still owned by the Unification Church (the folks who own the Washington Times). Anyway, the new network looks to be a better distributed, but worse looking RightNetwork. -- TV or Not TV The Smartest (TV) People! I did a whois search for youtoo and came up with a guy in Plano, TX who registered the site with Go Daddy. A further search shows the guy who registered the site is in charge of online marketing and technology for American Life TV. -- TV or Not TV The Smartest (TV) People! Of course, that's the one bit of information that doesn't have a citation or anything. And well, searching for the network in Google or GoogleNews has proven useless (though Google is no longer correcting Youtoo into YouTube). The only news article I have seen is of a small cable system dropping ALN because it turned into Youtoo. http://j.mp/oKUk1n This is possibly the first network whose birth is not chronicled by some sort of press release somewhere. -- TV or Not TV The Smartest (TV) People! Re: [TV orNotTV] Re: What the Heck is a 'YouToo'?
Looking at the listed programs, (which I confirmed some via the electronic cable guide), I am now thinking Youtoo is an elaborate joke. https://plus.google.com/100411347312960881344/posts/cLypzjLguz7 Good job there, unseen humorist. You obviously spent a lot of money but you completely fooled me all day. Congratulations. -- TV or Not TV The Smartest (TV) People!
