Hi, Are you by any chance using the TCAmanipulate extension? I had that installed, it was giving me some problems (because of deprecated function calls). I used the Tamper Data addon for Firefox to debug the HTTP requests that were done. Since the CE elements are added via IRRE, this is all done via AJAX (so you're not seeing what really happens). What would perhaps help is to open the AJAX request in a new tab (via Tamper Data). This way I found out what was wrong with my installation. [TYPO3-english] Bug in TYPO3 4.4: MM relations fail in BE when localized?
Hello list, I have found a problem in one of my extensions. At the moment I don't know if it's a bug of TYPO3 of if I there is some config missing... Summary: When a field with m:m realtions is translated and uses a language fallback, in the translated record not the correct entries are shown, but the single record which uid is the same as the number of related records in the original record. The Installation runs with TYPO3 4.4.4. In my extension I have some tables but only two are important here: I have a table entries for contacts and a table function to describe the function of a person within a division. As the same person can have different functions in different division, I use m:m realations with an additional table. The order of the entries is also important. When creating the records in default language, everything is fine. I create contacts and add them to the different functions. Works in BE and in FE (my plugin). The failure occurs when I translate the records. Localization of contacts is still no problem. There are some fields to be translated (address, vita, ...), some not (image, ...). I use 'l10n_mode' = 'exclude' and 'l10n_display' = 'defaultAsReadonly' to get some fields not to be translated and to have a fallback. But I have a problem when I localize a function record. It doesn't make sense to change the relations of contacts and functions between divisions. So I have set this two options 'l10n_mode' = 'exclude' and 'l10n_display' = 'defaultAsReadonly' also for this field with the m:m relation. The record's should be displayed, but they should not be modified in the translation. The Failure itself with an example: In the default language there are two contacts selcted: Mr. Klein and Mr. Meier. But in the translated record, none of these two records is shown, but a different one: Mr. Schatz. And the uid of Mr. Schatz is 2!. If I add a third contact in the default language, in the translated record I see another contact: Mr. Schmidt. It's the contact with uid 3. - very strange: Original record:Translated record: 1 entries entry with uid = 1 2 entries entry with uid = 2 3 entries entry with uid = 3 ... Is this a bug, then I will submit it to bugs.typo3.org, or do I have forgotten to setup something, perhaps? The localization features are enabled in both tables. And localization of the records itself is working (and done with the default localization functions of TYPO3), but not for the relations between the records. In my FE plugin everything is fine. The db entries are correct. Only the output of the data in BE is wrong. Hello, I've got a set of static HTML files, and I'd like to put their contents into TYPO3 as separate pages. Doing this manually will be cumbersome, as this task will have to be repeated regularly (the HTML files are generated from documentation of our product). Therefore I am looking for a way to make this automatically, from a script which would create pages and fill in columns with plain HTML elements accordingly. I already have means to extract data. I am now looking for a way to make automatic upload. I googled a bit, but it seems that my usual keywords return nothing related to my problem. What are my choices? Does TYPO3 have any kind of remote API? Should I think of writing a TYPO3 extension that would mass-create pages? [TYPO3-english] Extension developer helpers or speeders
Hello, List. Can't say, that I'm new to extension development, but also I'm not really experienced one :) I have developed a number of various extensions and every time learned something new about development. Most of the time my extensions were quite simple and 'kickstarter' was my only friend in development. But once I faced a fat task with business logic, different access levels and other scary things :) I also started with 'kickstarter' only, but development took too many time and my power, and most of the time I spent not to project specific, but to form generation, field validation, data listings, various access checks. I tried, failed, tried another variants, improved them, made bottlenecks a bit speedy and so on. At the end, project succeeded and I got much more experience, then ever before, but I was overtired and took a vacation to recover myself. So, when I got next even more fat project, I decided to use some already existing solutions, that will take care of routine. And my mixture was 'powermail' + 'powermail_frontend' - many thanks to authors of these extensions! :) The development was much more faster, then before, but still I had to concentrate at some routine tasks. Also I couldn't achieve my task with hooks only, so I changed some part of the original code (shame upon me) - and I don't like such a way. Finally my question is: what is the best practice for extension development? Are there such extensions, that may speed up development by taking care of some routine, like form building, data check, search, record editing, also same for BE modules. Also developer should not be limited to the list of actions, that extension provides. F.e., If I want to make some AJAX calls in forms or add multi-level validation (first user fills and saves form, but it is not visible for moderator, until user presses 'validate' button, then moderator may edit and save form data, but it is not visible to administrator, until moderator presses 'validate') or something more complicated, I should be able to do it with my own extension - without changing the code of helper, that I'm using. I've seen, that big amount of extensions uses 'lib' and 'div' libraries. Also 'wfqbe' often appear in this list. Additionally 'extbase' with 'fluid' become more and more popular. But I'm not sure, that they are what I'm looking for. Or I'm wrong? Sorry for such a big message and probably stupid questions. [TYPO3-english] 4.5.0 and usability
Hi, Again you developers have done great job, thank you and bows to you TYPO3 core developers! There's always something to improve though ;) so here is the thing I find now a bit worse than before. When creating a begroup (or beuser) there is in Access tab the field Allowed excludefields. Now everything is in alphabetical order. Before they were in kind of groups, one extension properties in one group then the next and so on. This alphabetical order is very hard to cope with since many extensions + core use same terms. There is this nice question mark button that gives more info - thanks for that improvement. Even the field size is smaller nowadays, this makes it a bit harder too to get the bigger picture. [TYPO3-english] TT-news RSS Feeds with $XXX Type Characters Breaking the Feed
All,
I have an RSS feed set up on my site that uses particular tt_news
category to create itself. The problem that I am having is that the
RSS feed gets broken or not formed correctly continually because in
the content of the tt_news record (mostly titles and short text) have
characters like ldquo instead of a and other characters that are
similar to this all proceeded with symbol.
This tends to break the entire feed and it is readable in Firefox, but
not IE and not Chrome. Can anyone help me to set something in
typoscript or in the tt_news settings that will either not allow for
this characters, skip them, or reformat them in regular text? Or some
other fix... More details are below. Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone, I'm trying to find some information on the front-end users of TYPO3 but Google won't help. Maybe some of you have experience with the following questions? 1) is there a maximum number of front-end users? I am looking at about 40,000 users. Each user will only log in once. 2) how many users can be online at the same time before the system starts to get slow? What can I do to improve performance? 3) is it possible log in users via a hash? Or is the only way by user=xxxpassword=xxx ? What I am trying to achieve is to have all those users update their profiles. Therefore I want to import their data into the fe_user table. I want the whole thing to be integrated into my TYPO3. If any of you know about the way to have each user only update their personal data without using the fe_user table for this (Powermail? How can I insert data into the form if I only have a hash?) that would be appreciated as well. Remember that it is a bit risky to send even a hash via url but it can be done. On my blog is even example code how to log in a user when you have the login and password.
