Kevin;

Check the OS level permissions on the privileges file. The only time I
wasn't able to access an account I found the permissions on the
privilege file had been changed. Then try connecting with VSG and
hopefully that will create the privileges you require.

I did that. It's an NT system, and permissions on this file (attrib
+a) is the only thing set, and it's set the same on the accounts that
are working.

[U2] [AD] Boulder, CO Pick Job [/AD]

2005-11-14 Thread Results
FORWARDED WITHOUT ENDORSEMENT
From:

Chuck,

We had corresponded several months ago regarding a Pick developer
position in Colorado, which you had posted on your User Group. I
actually have another Pick UniVerse development opportunity in the
Boulder, CO area, and was wondering if you would be willing to forward
this email out to your group again. The opportunity is a contract
position where the individual would be working for a software
development firm, using Pick in a development and conversion role. I
would greatly appreciate any assistance. Any interested candidates can
contact me at

Why not just use Windows' hyperterminal? I think it has a kermit option.

Try checking the actual windows permissions (especially the owner) on
the file. I've seen some strange things happen with them.

How was this account created?

Thanks for the suggestions, hyperterminal works as a client as does
Wintegrate, I needed something to work on the server end, the other end of
the process.

In unix, from Wintegrate I would login to the host, drop to the shell prompt
and fire off Kermit. This would sit waiting for commands that Wintegrate
could integrate with in its Kermit Process.

However I cannot find such a facility for Windows, apart from Kermit 95 that
loads some OS level copyright protection that I have concerns with
particularly in the light of Sony's copyright protection software issues.

RE: [U2] Problem with privileges file

2005-11-14 Thread Kevin King
We have resolved this by having the Administrator copy the privileges
data file from another account that we know to be working to overlay
the one we know is not working. That did the trick. The vendor, on
the other hand, recommended we take the whole account and overlay the
account that was experiencing the problem, then manually correct the
hundreds of pointers that were in the source VOC. Frankly, such
shotgun-blast idiocy should be punished.

The only difference between the old version of the file and the new
version of the file was the missing information about the privileges
file. Everything else was identical. Unfortunately, I don't know how
the account was originally created; that was all done by the vendor.
