There's a web-based version of Accuterm:

http://www.asent.com/atie2k2.asp

I played with it a few years ago and it seemed to work pretty much the
same as the full blown Windows version. I never implemented it because
our remote users have access to the full version via a Citrix server, so
there wasn't much need.

I had similar problem once because programmer had used some PC based

[U2] UD Basic Heading

2006-09-26 Thread Bill Haskett
I found a "work-around" for this. It seems there is a UniData bug with the
BASIC Heading not being properly cleared from a called subroutine.

My "work around" was to "EXECUTE \LISTPTR\ CAPTURING OUTPUT" at the end of
the scrolling subroutine. Now, when the report generator calls a BASIC
report subroutine, which captures a report with a BASIC heading, then passes
it to a scroll subroutine, this scroll subroutine will now execute the
aforementioned statement before returning to the report generator program
that started the process. For some reason, the HEADING area gets cleaned up
properly, which exiting the entire call stack would do too.

Doing a "EXECUTE \LIST VOC 'VOC'\ CAPTURING OUTPUT" doesn't work. Don't
know what it is with LISTPTR but it works. Aren't work-arounds great?

Hi Bill,

It's strange behavior with an easy fix:
BPIOCP (all by itself)

For example:
156: IF OUTPUT = 'SCREEN' THEN
157: BPIOCP ;* ALLOWS HEADERS & PAGING TO WORK
158: END ELSE
159: PRINTER ON
160: END

"HELP BPIOCP" tells all.

Hope this helps,

>>> [EMAIL PROTECTED] 09/23/06 11:41 AM >>>

I'm using UD v7.1 on Win 2K3. An application we've converted
from Pick is having some problems with the BASIC heading. We're
running in Pick mode with the following options on: 2, 3, 7, 14,
15, 23, 32, 34, 43, 46, 48, 54, 56, 59, 64, 66, 75, 78, 83, 89,
91, 92, 104, 105, and 114.

It seems if there's a UI structure like:

Login > Run BP MainMenu > CHAIN SubMenu > Call ReportMenu > Call Report

At the completion of each of the above the application moves
back to the left one step.

The problem I'm encountering is the BASIC heading isn't cleared
from the subroutines until navigation moves all the way back to
the "MainMenu" (out of the entire call process). For instance,
I run a report, to the screen, with a BASIC heading in it. When
the report is complete the user moves back to the ReportMenu.
If I call a tcl shell subroutine that executes a list command,
like "LIST VOC", the heading built in the report displays. Paging
and cursor positioning is also corrupted as the next report I run
in the Report process doesn't display properly either, nor are
the screen display messages. It's as though the HEADING memory
area isn't cleared upon completion of the called subroutine as
it should and this interfers with all screen display. I should
note, this doesn't happen in UV as the same software is running
there.

I've read the manuals, especially the UDT.OPTIONS manual, and
can't find anything that would affect this. Does anyone know
how to correct this?

As always, thanks.

[U2] Auto-faxing a print job - RICOH Aficio 2035e/2045e [UD]

2006-09-26 Thread Burwell, Edward
We have a RICOH Aficio 2035e/2045e printer and it supports faxing and all
kinds of good stuff. Has anyone figured out how to send a SINGLE print job
"packet" to a printer like this, such that the printer says, "ok, instead of
printing you, I am going to fax you to 123-456-7890".

I'm hoping that I can put a "header" on the print job that contained the fax
number and some indicator that the printer would understand, and act
accordingly.

We are on Unidata 6.1 and AIX 4.3.3

Thanks.

[U2] SOA - A Developers Tale session Dropped from IOD Conference....

2006-09-26 Thread DAVID WOLVERTON
I gathered it was an End User speaking on developing an application with a
SOA interface in U2, so I'm bummed. I thought this would have been
interesting and very informative...

If the SOA session at 4:15 on Wednesday is cancelled, I wish they would move
TUU-1458A (Securing U2 for IOD SOA) into that slot! I know of a couple of
us who would like to attend that session, but have an imperative to see the
SystemBuilder Technical Overview to see the "Version Next" that makes SB+ a
part of VisualStudio...

And actually, the SystemBuilder session should be interesting! I'd
recommend anyone who has active development at least look at SB+ again -- in
my mind, the costs involved with the RunTime aspect are likely mitigated by
the standards and speed to completion, ESPECIALLY if you're doing mainly
'in-house' or 'small base' coding and development. SystemBuilder shields
you from the 'interface changes' that usually plague small development
efforts -- the reason so many products are still character based is the cost
to get to GUI. SB+ sets out so that each shift in the paradigm has been
evolutionary instead of 'start from scratch' -- we're hoping the
evolvoltioin to Vista Aero presentation works as smoothly.

Anyway, the SB+/SOA classes at the same time was another of those conflicts
that surprised me -- I could see putting UniData and UniVerse classes at the
same time, as those usually are two different groups - people are aligned
with one or the other - but SB+ and SOA Archictecture I didn't see as
mutually exclusive. Especially when IBM should be doing whatever they can
to get more people reviewing and into SystemBuilder with the upcoming
changes to make it an 'add-on' to VisualStudio! U2 has always been missing a
'front end' - SB+ **IS** that front end. And if you can use VisualStudio to
boot (aside from Microsoft now getting their development tax as well!) then
we will have a GUI anyone can develop with.

See you at IOD...

Mac,

It sounds like Windows permissions could be to blame here.

First of all, make sure any user you set up to log in to Universe has
permission to connect remotely to the server.

Also look at the directories that are being used for the Universe
accounts, do your users have permission to use those?

An administrator will have all of the above, but a normal user won't
unless you set it specifically.

Subject: [U2] Windows 2003 - Login Problem

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help with this issue -

We have a Windows 2003 R2 Server running UV 10.1.3 - The problem is that
all
users need to be setup as Administrative Users in order to be able to
login
to the telnet service. If they are setup as normal users in the AD,
after
entering the password, they lose connection.

If anyone has a solution to this, please advise

Thanks

RE: [U2] Windows 2003 - Login Problem

2006-09-26 Thread Robert Paterson
Specifically, the permissions for the users who need to access the
Telnet service should be:

Log on locally
Access this computer from the network

If these are set and you still have problems, you will probably need to
take it up with your IBM Support people.

[U2][UD] UniQuery SELECT WITH Limits

2006-09-26 Thread rayd . jones
Suppose you are discontinuing a product range and need to know how many of
your customers are likely to be affected by the decision..this is
how I tackle it.

I populate a select list with the product codes or "strings" I am looking
for, and then run it against the file I am searching as follows:

1) edit the list RAY.LOOKUP.LIST (with hundreds of strings) or simply save
the list if you can obtain them elsewhere.

2) set up an I-type to read the list into the @RECORD buffer. (Incidentally,
I can't be bothered to waste half my life typing &SAVEDLISTS& so I use an
alias called "TEMP", ).
RAY.LOOKUP.LIST:
  TRANS(TEMP,"RAY.LOOKUP.LIST",@RECORD,"X")

3) Set up an I-type which uses the "Index" verb - this also tells you the
position, or Zero if it is not found.
RAY.INLIST.CHECK:
  IF INDEX(RAY.LOOKUP.LIST,PROD.CODE,1) = 0 THEN "N" ELSE "Y"

4) run the query "Select Contract with Ray.Inlist.Check = "y"
This will return a list of contracts whose Product code matches one of the
entries in the saved list "Ray.Lookup.List".

Granted, you have to set up one dictionary "pair" for every query of this
type, but in the last 12 years I have only amassed 4 pairs but when you need
them they are worth the effort.

ps I like to look in on the list once in a while, sadly U2 is no longer our
mainstream product (SQL).

Keep buzzing!
