Hi does anybody know how to get braille working in orca? I'm using v11 of ubuntu, orca is talking, and I've went into the orca prefferences and to the braille page and enabled braille and pressed the apply button but I still don't get any braille all I get on the display is that message screen is not in text mode and I don't know how to get it into text mmode. Also is there a good tutorial for the blind to help me to get a good fiel for ubuntu? Thanks for any help anybody can give me. Think I discovered something
Hello, ok so I got ubuntu installed and think I might have come across a bug. I tried booting the disk on about 3 system with the same result, when ever the cd finishes booting I don't hear the drums, and a friend of mine tried it out on his system and he didn't hear the drums either. I suspect this might be happening to some others as well. What I discovered, is that the reason why the drums sound is not being heard, is because the volume defaults to all the way down, and this can be varified if you happen to have phisical volume keys on your keyboard or laptop and you press the volume up you can hear a kind of knocking sound that gets louder or softer depending on whither you're turning the volume up or down.-- Ubuntu-accessibility mailing list Ubuntu-accessibility@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-accessibility
help with the live cd
Hello everyone, I downloaded utunto 11 last week and have been trying to get orca to talk so that I can install it, how ever, I can't get it to work . In ubuntu 8.4 I could boot to the cd, press enter to select english, press downarrow once to tell the installer that I want to install, hit f5, key in 3 to load speech, and press enter twice and orca would come up talking, how ever that doesn't seem to work in the current billed so I was wondering if there is something I'm doing wrong? Also, in an earlier version I was able to get my pac mate braille display to work but I don't know how to get that to work either. I've been searching on the net using google trying to find some decent instructions on how to successfully boot to the live cd for ubuntu11, infact, I spent all day doing pretty much that and finally came acrossed this list. I'm gonna have some more questions later, however, right now I need to get the basic problem out of the way. Thanks for any help anybody can give me.
