It is far more complicated to this with an engine (esp. if you have to implement it yourself). I don't know about the performance but the looks of clearlooks is better to me. It is actually not that hard to tweak existing theme engines (the hard thing is to write them, there are many many devils in the details). As I've stated a few times already having a clear list of simple items we would like fixed will make it much more likely that someone with the skills and motivation will write a patch suited for upstream (possibly me, but no promises ;-P). The stuff that is much harder to change is the subtle user interaction things. Like being able to drag windows by mouse-dragging on unused parts of the menubars. See fx http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=500437 which is relevant for New Wave. But I think that used pixmap is a bad idea and not best way to make a theme, especially if we would hope to use it as default in Ubuntu. The pixmap engine is slow e not performing. The pixmap engine might be used only for little workaround and I think it is already used enough in NewWave. Increase the use of pixmap engine is not good idea. First of all: I like that very much! Just had the following idea: what about removing the outer orange line of INACTIVE windows - this would extremely highlight the active ones and make the desktop more clear. Also I am not sure about these lines at the panels. Maybe they are a little bit too stylish instead of functional? -flo -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art

Once again, I will ask everyone to respond to the email with the Subject included. Just saying "icons are great :-)" means absolutely nothing without looking through others mails to figure out what you meant. -- Ken -- ubuntu-art mailing list ubuntu-art@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-art
