Ha ha ... surely :)

I read that maybe Lucid want have no more a Metacity, because they have
a goal to do something similar what google-chrome haves. It's for the
tabbing... But a Metacity is always needed. Don't matter if it's Gnome
2.xx or Gnome 3.xx. So I go on ... :)

There is a lot of time till the Lucid-Artwork-finish. I hope I can
produce something nice... I will play with some ideas. :)

[ubuntu-art] Metacity for Lucid

2009-12-14 Thread Oliver Scholtz 1
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Artwork/Incoming/Karmic/Humancity

I created a new Metacity-proposal for Lucid. Unfortunately I did a
mistake (don't know why, because I gone to the Lucid-page and pushed on
"create new concept page") and created a Concept-Page in the
Karmic-rubric. But the Concept is for Lucid. Somebody can correct it?

simpler, but with a obvious message. At moment I am unlucky with the

It's a good notice. The only what we want is a consistence (monochrome
icons) in the panel. Apps and system-menus should be stay as they are.
The replacing or inheriting those new monochrome icons is a good stuff
for the panel-look, but it's destroying (replacing) the original setting
in the hicolor-theme. Will say... it's better let these solution from
gnome-look at moment and wait for Lucid.

I like it. :)
Only I have blue against the yellow in your screenshots. The panel is
boring. But if's not pixmap, so there's nothing to do. The Gnome-panel
is a horrible stuff. :( ;)
The metacity-buttons don't haves changes if you're over it. But the
buttons are very very nice. ;)

Download, music and video aren't nice. Download is to neon and the
shadow too strong - the music-note isn't the nicest ... but okay!? -

For the moment all my motivations has gone ... differents things in my
life got more importance. I don't think that they aren't fitting well
with Breathe-Set. Normaly they will be seen in smaller sizes and it's
looking nice, doesn't it?
Okay ... there are missing only 3 icons for completion. If I don't find
back with my motivation; Sebastian wouldn't have any problems to finish
them...

I am still observing ... all goes a good way. Will see when I *feel* for

But I am still thinking that all final icons needs a handish reparation

It's all at moment ...

Ahh ohh yes. I think that the Navi-Icons shouldn't haves this
light-reflection from 22 and above ... and they can be *a little bit
smaller*, too.

I made a test. All in all it's okay now. But scalable is buggy as
always. I propose to use the 128px-PNG's for scalable till we find a
solution for fix it with the real svg-files. I tried a lot of things ...
include to convert it in a plain-svg-file - nothing. :/
I think the problem is a bug in lib-svg and blured objects which are
inside of a svg-file. I searched in Google about this bug, but it seems
like that nobody is nerved with this!?

In Evolution we have a bug with message-sended-folder and replay-all.
(Attach)

I think I will fix start-here in 22x22 (24x24) and all envelope-icons
22x22 (24x24) for a better aspect.
(Yes - I will catch them all from the bzr-source.)

[ubuntu-art] [Breathe] Inkscape Bug

Yes. I have it in "start-here" and for say a quick and actual example
"video-display" haves it in the feet. "gtk-media" will have it maybe,
too. But, of course, we have some more icons in svg (scalable) where are
missing some little details in the icon and makes the aspect more flat
and poor - different. I don't know where the Bug is? In Inkscape or in
svg-lib form Gnome?

:-) It's only a personal opinion. If we speak about Gnome-Colors, so I
let you now that Erectus-Human is much prettier in my eyes as
Gnome-Colors-Human for Ubuntu. So I don't like the folders in
Gnome-Colors etc. ;-)
But Breathe will be the next level - you will see.

Gnome 3 is on the way, too. Here we will have again a new style and a
break with the old. I know that gtk-2.x and tango got and haves many
fans. But nothing is for ever. ;-)

Everybody haves his own opinions. Shout it out can make feel better ...
but it won't stop the prozess, because the decisions are taken and
acepted by many many people. ;-)

I made some experiments, but no improvements. With rendering to PNG all
goes like a charm. But as SVG some objects don't appears. I don't know
why and I couldn't find the mistake. Seems to be a Bug in Inkscape.
Is no support for Inkscape? - I already haven't looked for it...
Would be fine to know how to get all objects visible as SVG in Nautilus
etc.

I noticed and I have a problem with Inkscape. Sometimes blured obejects
appears in Nautilus and in life use and sometimes some blured objects
not. I think it's happens if you have a object transparent and blured. I
will check it out ... ;)

I don't understand nothing. :-)

The link shows a icon with a perspective we normaly don't use. Daniel
made a icon with the same aspect, but in the front-view. (It haves the
same characteristics like the icon in your link.) And it doesn't look as
a port form oxygen. It's looking similar, but it's different.
In my opinion I am totally agree with Daniels icon here. ;-)

BUT: I noticed after compiling that the zoom-icons were deleted than and
I miss for example the go-previous + symlinks in 24x24.

Bugs:

- Missing "plates" in 24x24:
* no go-down in 24x24
* no go-previous in 24x24
* no object-flip-horizental in 24x24
* no object-flip-vertical in 24x24
* no object-rotage-left in 24x24
* no object-rotage-right in 24x24

- all:
* the current zoom-out > should be named zoom-original (svg-source
need be renamed)
* the true zoom-out is missing

- edit-cut in 22x22 and 24x24:
* shift icon 1px to right!

- gnome-dev-ipod.svg:
* not working

It's all right now. ;)

How I say - I fixed it all for me. ;)

Better :)

I think the list should be quite short. You are a good "filter". ;D
And yes in the submissions-page are many icons which needs a strong
overwork already...

So you will upload than only the gtk-media-icons if the complete set is
done! seek- skip- forward and seek- skip- backward. Alright. ;)

So I wish a lucky hand in your work.

I think that tangonish (outline) in 16x16 is always the better desicion
if posible. ;)

Suggestion:

- Transmission is a nice new candidate. It's similar to oxygen, but our
own work.

- gkt-media: media-eject, pause, start, stop, record can be taken as
"try out", too. ;)

- document-new, folder new are sure canditates, too. Of course, if you
like the new glymph. ;) (Edit-cut: here I think the outline could be a
little bit stronger in 22x22 and 16x16.)

Shadow: Even Sebastian uses *different* shadows. **Depend of the kind**
of icon different shadows are needed. The handmark and style of every
artist is always different. But I think we are always trying to come so
near as possible to Sebastians style. gtk-media is out of debate. They
are "unice" and absolutly my style. Maybe it's very difficult to be
copied by other artist's ... :D

No. :) I think it's well now.
It's better now you make a repass trough folder-remote, system-run (128)
[it's yours?], document-revert (paper from Breathe please) and go-next +
go-previous (small sizes! for kill the iregularities) with slowness and
PERFEKTION. ;)

In finishing make sure that all "plates" are on their place, the layer
of the icon well named and the def. cleaned up.

It's a enough work so far ...

Honestly I don't like edit-paste and view-refresh at all. I fixed it,
yes, but I don't like it ... :/
On edit-paste I like only the 16-version. View-refresh I used it in KDE.
In this kind yes ... but I had always the impression that it was too
fat!

I think it's better to delete it and start again with both...

mhhh, I understand Daniel. It is not a easy job and he is missing the
closer communication with all maintainers of this Set. Feel alone is not
very good for motivation. ;)
It would be maybe better this way:

Daniel: I will make the new computer-icon.
Cory: show us ...
...
Me: The screen is nice, but the feet should be smaller and more round.
Cory: Do it in white and the shadow stronger ...
Smartboy: Hey I like it!
Thorsten: It's to glossy. :( # (the bad guy) :D :D :D
etc. etc.

:D

It's only a example, but what I want say is, that everybody is important
and needs some support and maybe more attention. The leader or somebody
with good reasons should stop a wrong way quickly, so we save the
artist's frustration, time and energy. ;)

The last three days was very productive and round, because we had
feedbacks and communication each other (together). This is what this Set
needs for go ahead more quickly and maybe with attracting more
artist's ... and very important: the actual artist's happieness. :)

Okay it's not always possible, but I will try to give feedbacks always I
can ...

Daniel: "ANIMO" ;)

The small sizes of it aren't good in bright themes. I supose a dark
outline on it. In the small sizes, it shouldn't have letters inside - of
course. The panel (down) can be smaller, too.

Would be nice, if Sebastian can/could upload a new version of it.

I don't know if we can do it so soon. I already haven't fixed them. What
I mean you see if you open a svg-file of them and look for the
"plate" ... yes you wouldn't find nothing. ;)
I want fix it ...

We talk always to much ... finally we have more confusing and breaks in
the fluid of creation. Glyphs are changeable. Some sketches of ideas
would be nice, because with say "I'm unsure ..." don't helps a lot. How
we now in wich kind of glyphs are you thinking!? ;)
But at the moment we can *take* it till we get the final decission?

If you go this kind: 48-32-22-16 not. But if you compare it with
in-out-original-bestfit-48 - in-out-original-bestfit-32 etc. ... yes. ;)
I never saw them nicer so far and the symbols inside are markant and
very good seeable. This is very important - I think.

In this kind of icons I have experience and many hours of anger... It's
very very dificult to get them better. ;)

[ubuntu-art] [Breathe] view refresh is refreshed ...

2009-04-30 Thread Oliver Scholtz 1
and ready for the real life.

Breathe/submission

Oliver

PD:

Daniel you are crazy quick and with this "tempo" we have the
actions-field finished soon. But some of your Icons are very good
sketches and needs already a final touch - with slowless and
perfection. ;)

Sebastian can do the final quality-control and make some corrections if
needed. <-- What about this?

Yes, because it's very overloaded ... than it works sometimes. ;) In
general use fix line-strongs like 0,5 - 1 - 1,2 - 1,5 - 2 etc.

If you zoom and your grid (#) is on you can see the blocks. Every block
is a pixel. If you are in the middle of this pixel, the final result is
blur. So shift your lines and fillings so good you can in this
quadrants. ;) okay? :)

mail-read and mail-new are awesome. ;)

mail-mark-junk, the red should be more intensive.

mail-reply-sender should have a darker outline in the arrows (small
sizes).

mail-mark-important:
In the 22x22-icon the "!" can be moved a little bit more to left.
The 16x16-icon need a new "!" drawed for see better that this is a
"!". ;)

But all over ... very nice. ;)

Be sure that all icons are on their "plate" and correctly placed...

I mean that it looks rough ... ;) Or in spanish:

Tiene un aspecto bastanto duro. Los pixeles blancos no siguen una linea
contunia. En algunos lugares tampoco el borde oscuro. Tiene que estar
todo mucho mas fino. ;)

mail-recive:

The cover from the ver. 2 and the arrows form the ver. 1 is better.
Arrows in motion are to blur and confusing in small sizes. ;)
Place the arrow (yellow) a litte bit better. :)

But you are uploading a lot of icons which aren't in centered in their
"plate"-layer! Please fix all your icons (less the zoom ones) and put
all in their dedicated "plate". If not the script wouldn't work later
and we have a problem. ;)

Thanks :)

PD: The view-refresh-icon is in general nice, but it looks very very

You made a actual Breathe-Set from the PPA and all in moment new
included Icons you can find in submissions. I would make it too, but it
will take to much time for me... But I think a new actualication will
come soon and I can save all this work to do it myself. ;-)

I saw the network-icon with the green lines in your screenshot. I don't
get the right feel with it. Maybe the white lines will fit better with
the web-icon what is below of the network-icon. :-?

If you think the icon is made of glass the effect is correct. If you
think all is made with a other material so the filling should be
inverted. I personally like the glass-feeling. :-)

In general!!! I like the attached look more...

1st-version:

like the colour and the light mix of glos and gardient.

2nd-version:

don't like it. This colour is okay. Black would be my absolute fav. ;)
In the 2nd-version it's better to have the bright line below and a dark

Folder:

48x48: right - top isn't well.

16x16: too dark outline. the right edge goes out.

Battery:

left - top of the battery is too bright.
on the right side is a little blur-error. (128x128, 48x48, 16x16)

Maybe it should be fixed for be perfectly ;)

A windows-flag is visually better for all theme-colours (bright and
dark), but "Wine" *is* a glass with liquid. Something else is too
radikal. :) So it *must* be a glass with wine ...

Hey what happens with the windows-flag ... so there are Windows-Apps
inside. ;) :D

One ask? How are the ideas for Wine? The glass wine is not really a good
icon, because in 24x24 and dark themes it isn't well for seeing it.
Maybe the Windows-flag would be better? Hey it's only a opinion ... :D

So, now we have the colour-ask. :D
Lila or Orange ... or something different?

All your decisions. ;)

PS: Like the Lila one more ...
